i think i played back in 2020 or 2021 (on a different account that got lost to time), but when i joined again, (and probably on my old account too) i always had trouble managing my finances. like i would get mush and it would be gone about two seconds later. i can't deny that this still sometimes happens, but i'm definitely not as broke as i was lol.

Other.

I tried to play multiple times, but different reasons caused me to leave. Life was busy, so that's part of it.

However, I did find that I never had enough mushrooms to really start anything properly and get too far into anything. Navigation wasn't an issue.

I did feel like I was lacking a little bit in things to do in the beginning. The reason is that you could only explore every thirty minutes and had only so many explore moves. Which makes sense, but there wasn't much else to do except wait. I would forget to come back after a while.

The game guide lacked detailed information. For the most part, things are generally covered. However, you can find much more information in the forums. I joined the game the first time when Wolf Play was brand new. There wasn't much to go on yet, so it was just a learning experience for everyone.

Mush for starters, but also understanding what is good and what isn't. To use HEE words, what is a triple S and what is a triple E or W. After that it is the explore. Getting enough CP on the wolf, knowing what is good, and the very low mush return for so long. Mush is hard to obtain. In interspersed in that is navigation, especially forums. But I like the game and I fully understand things being learned and tested. So thank you for the game.

Building a good explore team was hardest for me - especially with the aspect of adding character points. If I did it all over again I'd probably just buy wolves with character points already added (or lots of talents) for my explore team. I also didn't really have as good of an understanding of which character points were important for what when I began.

For me- it was not having enough mushrooms and not being able to aquire apples easily enough. I think it would be a good idea to make apples easier to get in more ways, and mushrooms to have more value (Somehow). Someone had said the value of a mushroom was basically equal to a penny, I agree. If players had more currency to start with, I fully believe it would improve the quality of the whole game, and not to mention happier players.
P.S- An idea came to me: You could still charge IRL money for apples; just make players able to aquire apples more easily. Like you could trade a certain amount of mushrooms for apples. Ex: 45-50 mushrooms = 1-2 apples.
Hope this helped!! :3

Even when I made my alt account, (aka this account) I still struggled with finding the pallettes and the pack colors but then I remembered. I usually struggled with rules I think

Other. The lack of clear, concise documentation of the game mechanics in a single spot made understanding the game and its rules not so easy as a new player.
A lot of folks in this thread have talked about how difficult it is to get mush in the beginning. It is very difficult to get mush in the beginning.
You get mush from Exploring. You need to be able to hunt successfully to keep your wolves fed to be able to keep exploring. I ran out of food a lot in the beginning and did not have the mush for more food or for healing potions when I needed them. That was a long time ago, and now the Hidden Falls exist - but that's relying on the goodwill of other players to help alleviate the grind beginning players have to deal with.

There is definitely a winning strategy for beginners to getting a good Explore team, using CP wisely, grinding mush successfully - but you have to ask other players how. Otherwise, good luck! You're gonna need it.

this! exactly this!
i've played since like 2020, this is 100% accurate

Having enough mush to do anything, breeding for quality wolves, buying explore moves & buying CP to build my wolves
It was hard getting enough mush or apples to do this until a more experienced player bought one of my wolves for apples and gifted me some mush (this was back in 2018 when I was a new player)

in our personal experience, breeding has been the biggest issue. we wait 4 days (which is a lot longer that what we feel it needs to be, but that's not really the problem), and out pops... nothing. just bones. wolves not worth it to stay. very rarely we'll get one that we like that is a dud, but that hardly ever happens and we hardly ever keep it. it's increasingly hard just to breed anything good, especially when it comes to rarity and more so defects or boosts. we've had an oddly good amount of luck with our starter pair and getting boosts, but they are practically just useless and words on a screen, kept just for the fact we get slightly more important in wolfplay terms.
another thing that sucks that a lot of other people have been saying, but the keeping mush and gaining apples. back when we played a long time ago, it was about 1k = 1 apple, which we feel is stupid expensive. now it's 500 = 1 apple if we remember right, but still pretty expensive, especially for new players. we feel it shouldn't be stupid cheap, but still easier to obtain. for example, it'd take a solid 12k (which doesn't seem like a lot but trust us, it is, especially for new players) just for a decent amount of apples nowadays, and half that back before we quit for a bit.
typically the game is fairly fun though, despite any issues with it. we enjoy exploring casually and playing with the games and customs maker, it's really fun to design things and goof around when we have nothing better to do.
