I also sometimes just start writing what I think would go well with the plot and add or subtract what works. It's a chaotic process but it helps.

Also! Finally decided exactly where Garvin's timeline is soooo- Appearance updated to include a piercing and tattoo that I hadn't been sure on yet. Everything else is the same though. Literally just wasn't completely sure on the timeline for him getting adopted. We're good now. I have all of that figured out now, haha.
