Are you sure it's saved as a .gif file? Which image hosting website are you trying to upload it to?
Does the gif show up in your pgotos when you're not trying to upload it? |

I'm confused-- This stickied thread lists ImageBB as an acceptable hosting site, but this post says it is no longer allowed; Which thread is correct? (I'm assuming the "it's no longer allowed" is the one to follow as it was created in 2018 and this one started in 2017?) |

That thread's super old, and I wish they’d just update the main post with the right info. But if you check out the latest post in that thread (I’ve linked it here for you), a former Game Mod explains that ImgBB is allowed again. Ahhh, thank you! Yeah that post was the first one I encountered on the website when I was reading all the rules posted everywhere (I so, so, so badly wish everything was in just, one nice manual with a table of contents), then someone directed me to this one, and I have been a confused bean XD I'll make a habit of checking newer replies to a topic.
