Sometimes, you might get a few more as a bonus, if you log in for a certain number of days in a row. Also, there are some generous people who gift character points to new members sometimes. If you see a little envelope image on the top right of your screen, under Packs Online, make sure to click it, it means you have a message, and it might be a notification that you just got gifted a few character points.
