After John had ushered Hondo inside he felt a sense of calming in the dog. John could see that the dog was limping, and that his side looked damaged. He picked up the leash and walked the dog to the exam room, to access the damage. He picked the dog up and set him on the table. He could feel the fear in the little dog. "It's going to be okay," he said in a soothing voice, "I am going to patch you up and then you can go back to your friends." He picked up the dog's injured paw. "Now this may hurt just a little." said John as he squeezed alittle on the dogs paw. "Its clearly sprained, not broken" he told the dog. But luckily its only a sprained rib he thought. As he put a splint on the little dog's limb he told him, " You'll have to stay in a care unit for about a couple days, then you can go back to your friends."
Then suddenly he remembered the other woman still in the enclosure with the other dogs!
