Any animal you kill will give you one experience point.

You can find your wolf's Battle Experience amount directly on your den page (click the 'i') or in its info box on its page.

Pups are wolves that are one year old.

To get a pup --

breed your alphas within your pack to have (a) pup(s)

buy a pup under Realm -> Trading Post.
