Ok, I have to bring this up as a horse person who has worked with a LOT of studs in my time: There are way too many stallions in this barn to be safe.

Studs (no matter how mildly mannered most of the time) cant be housed in regular stalls, especially mixed with mares and other stallions. They need reenforced runs and paddocks so they dont jump or break through a fence to get at mares or eachother. Stud chains are a must JUST IN CASE they get it in their head to act like a stud, even if they usually dont care.

By my count of players (accepted or not) we have: 6 mare, 2 geldings and 5 studs that are player characters with an unknown amount of NPC horses. If this was just short term housing for a show that would be fine, seeing as most studs need to feel secure and establish territories before they become real jerks. But thats the issue I see here. This is housing for 9 months out of the year, plenty of time for stallions that are "usually well mannered" to turn into assholes.

I know this sounds a bit knit picky, but this is supposed to be a realisitic RP. If you have worked with horses as much as myself or Fae Myst have, you would see this as an issue right off. If this is not a can of worms you want to open, I understand. I just feel it has to be said just incase there are people out there that would love to own a stallion in real life one day.

Unfortunately, I do kind of agree with Feral... and I'm one of those people that has a stallion in the RP. But that's the thing, I fully intend to play Helios as a stallion.

When Lucian has him on lead he is always with a stud chain. This isn't his home barn. While many stallions are fine at home in a flat halter, that is their turf! There are people here with probably very expensive mares and likewise expensive stallions. You cannot let stallions be out of control. One slip up and people/horses can get badly hurt and mares can get accidently in foal to foals that make no sense for that rider. (Ask Feral, her Norman mare IRL was the result of a stallion owner not thinking his Andalusian would jump a fence or cross a road, but damn if he didn't to get to the percheron mares across the way. )

Stallions need precautions.... they shouldn't be treated as monsters or serial killers but at the same time they are not geldings. ( and yes.. I get that geldings can be jerks too. Heck, my HUS quarter horse geldings at home acts like a stud half the time and is a pain. He marks up mares/mounts them/ needs to be watched or he gets into trouble etc). You never EVER should be turning out stallions together or with mares unless you expect fights or breedings to happen.. we noticed on the map there are paddocks for turn out but no Stud Runs. That means for proper exercise you will need to be doing CONTROLED lunging, arranging to have private indoor arena time, or riding them to give them their energy expenditure for the day. Otherwise they need to be in a stall.

At the end of the day it's up to Lucid and Jump. If they are ok with how play goes we bow our heads to them and move on. We want to RP and have fun. If that fun is going to come with having a stud horse then more power to you.

But this is listed as a realistic RP so we both came in expecting "realism" at least when it comes to how horses act/ how mares vs geldings vs stallions are on average. We know we cannot control others and their play styles, we are just stating the reality of the situation based on our real experiences with studs and horses in general for a combined nearly 50 years between us both.

i understand dw. Its just that everyone here might not be on the same experience level.

^^i changed my horse to a mare, and that seems fine, honestly i only wanted a stallion in order to differentiate between she and him, it gets a lil confusing otherwise. <3
