i dont know what youre using currently but kleki's alright (and browserbased)
i use magma (browserbased) which is really nice to use but you do have to have an account (it doesnt have to be a real email)
krita is a free app (no account required, i think) that's more 'professional' but when i tried to use it it was really buggy so,,,

Yes it means mentions so if your talking to someone you'd put 'M: Name' or if your not 'M: Open.'
