So, Eve has very kindly allowed me to submit new images for the currently in-game gear, "Lineart Upgrade"

This gear as many of you know, changes the base lineart of wolves to enhance fur texture & tweak lineart. Primarily, it massively edits the Female Beta pose to make it look nice.

Welp, the new update to the base game art basically does what my lineart already does, minus perspective fixes and claws, and the result is now having wolves that are extremely way too dark when it's equipped.

So!

What are any feedback / edits you'd like me to consider when re-doing this gear art? Is this gear even desired anymore?

Current changes planned:

-decrease (or eliminate entirely) fur contrast enhancement

-increase amount of highlights + make them more subtle (so the gear shows up well on dark coats; the new game art update doesn't seem to affect dark pelts overmuch)

-fix the missing claw on the Omega Female pose

-fix the Beta Female pose's front leg clipping slightly (the lineart -almost- follows teh actual edge of the wolf leg but clips slightly oops)

I'm looking for feedback on tweaks desired. This is only for the Lineart Upgrade gear. None of my other gear can be updated, and all future texture-editing gear I had planned are currently on hold for re-designing or canceled, because they no longer work with the new fur contrast.

Please don't propose new texture-editing gear, I'm sorry. I love ya'lls creative ideas but I am not seeking new art prompts, only how to fix what's already in-game.

I'm no longer willing to create major edits or pelt pallet color-matches that might break when base art is updated. I donated way too much of my time to see it get upended overnight with an unexpected game update, and I can't handle going through that again 😅 But I'm willing to fix the one that's already live in-game, because a lot of people loved it and used it. It almost broke 3,000 items in-game, and that feels like a hell of a lot of love for my silly pixel art.

Thoughts? Should I even bother with this project?

I don't know how many people plan to use the lineart upgrade anymore now that the base game art's been updated to do what my gear did.

It was very time consuming to do. I might have pushed the gear out in like ~3 days when i first uploaded it, but its because I took time off work and just sat and did art All Day Long and ignored my sleep schedule, so it was easily 20+ hours of work to do the original art. I anticipate editing taking anywhere from 5-12 hours total, from start to finished upload.

That's worth it to me, if at least 15 other players want this done, and I've already secured permission from Eve to perform the update if I provide her the new image files.

What if you made it an extra hair gear? Ear tufts, extended tail fur, or just more fluffy in general? (Double check this doesn't already exist)

I'm sorry your art got nerfed, but lineart isn't gear. It's part of the base art, and is subject to change. I would prefer if custom gear sticks to that realm.

I won't change the nature of what the gear does-- there's 2,900+ copies in the game, and I wouldn't want to surprise people with a drastic change.

My goal would only be to bring it back to what the original nature of the gear is

I did have ideas for fur extensions though :3 there's several versions of that in the game already, but every one is a different art style and a slightly different take on it

sneak peek at the new style tweak, i'm focusing on more highlights than shadows this time since the fur work is mostly already done, so it'll probably be most noticeable on dark pelts like the Bonfire shown;
