What happens when a wolf is set free in the free range?
are they put in the sanctuary the next day or do they get put in the heavens after a while?

They are either put in the sanctuary or deleted entirely form the game, more often being deleted.

1. If you plan on purchasing wolves, make sure they have Excellent affinity with the rest of your pack. Or if you plan on buying a poor affinity wolf, you can use a Make Friends token from the Apple shop to improve their affinity.

2. Keep up with their hunger and thirst.

3. Make sure none of them have the same dominance. You can change this using character points.

Just as an FYI, pack happiness doesn't affect much in the game except for how quickly your wolves heal after an explore session. They won't leave your pack or die if they're hungry/thirsty/unhappy.
