He knew that some soldiers out there would have seen that Samara was a woman and would have tried to have their way with her. That's why he made sure that he was not conveying the same message as that as he danced with her. However, dancing was very harmless and a quite common thing for even two straight male soldiers to do back at base. He just wanted Samara to be aware that he wasn't like that and that every intention he had didn't have a single thing to do with the idea of a sexual experience.

Right now, in the room, they were nothing but two bodies dancing in the fire. The sun must have started to set because now the room was filled with their shadows dancing around as night started to approach.

"Would it be such a shame to admit you've got me flustered?"

He paused a little at her words. He felt his heart flutter in his chest which was a wired unfamiliar feeling to him. He pulled back to say something but then the power went out in the room. The radio stopped and the sound of electric fire alarms beeping filled the air. Just great, power outage. That also meant no heat to the building.

He pulled away, thinking more clearly now. What was he doing here? Dancing with the enemy whenever they were in a not-so-good situation.

He stepped back from her, looking away to avoid the expression on her face,"We need to conserve energy. I don't know how long we are going to be here."

Samara knew things were getting too good and too comfortable in a way. She still needed to plan her future escape and she didn't want to gain any attachments to this man, yet still when he pulled away from her after the power went out she found herself with an unfamiliar sting. She watched how fast his feelings seemed to have changed and it caused Samara to compose herself.

"Right.. Should have thought of that before," she said as she cleared her throat before turning away. She needed to act right. She was a solider of the enemy side and she needed to act like it instead of acting like a dazed young girl in a boys arms. Not to mention, if her commander caught wind of how they had used their time together, she'd be in trouble for not having took him out when she could have.

Vunerability was a dangerous thing. With her head on a bit straighter than before, Samara walked over to one of the windows and peeled back the tape and the bag to peer out. It had grown quite dark and the wind was back to howling. "It's only going to get darker and colder from here.. I'll go see about finding blankets before it's too dark to see," Samara only spared one more glance towards him before starting to walk out to find whatever warm bedding that she could.

He purposely looked away. He didn't want to see the hurt on Samara's face when he pulled away. They couldn't be doing this. They were enemy soldiers. Most importantly, Fabian didn't have time to waste on relationships. He didn't want to be chasing after anyone, especially someone he was supposed to loathe.

His gaze briefly followed the shape of her figure as she peered out the window. He wanted to warn her not to do that but no warning came. Besides, looking out was okay. He looked away before she begin talking about finding blankets.

"There's bedrooms by the bathroom. Don't take to long," He warned her gently, turning his back and going to snoop out some candles. He thought he had seen some in the kitchen. It was going to be a long night for sure.

Looking out of the window had honestly worried Samara. It was growing extremely dark out, especially with the snow being as thick and rough as it was. She knew at that point no one knew their exact location, which could be bad in the end if no one came looking and the snow just kept building up. Not to mention, at this point the air between them would possibly grow cold and awkward, and Samara wasn't sure if she'd be willing to bear through it.

Samara paused at the sound of him warning her not to take too long, but she continued down the hall after acknowledging him with a small hum and a nod. As much as she enjoyed getting close to him and developing whatever kind of feeling that were happening, she was going to try and not let it happen. Neither of them needed it. After all, fraternizing with the enemy could get both of them in a ton of trouble.

Samara went to the bedrooms and rummaged about for blankets and other items they could use to make themselves more comfortable. It took her a matter of five minutes to find everything she thought they could use before walking quietly back to the living room. She shut the hall door behind her in hopes of conserving a bit more heat before laying out the blankets close to the fire. Once done, she rubbed the back of her neck with a soft sigh. They were truly in a big ass mess.

Fabian had to admit, dancing with Samara had felt nice. He liked the way they had danced so close to each other, the feeling of her breath against his neck, and the way she drew circles from his nape. That feeling was nice. He found himself stupidly wishing for that moment to return as he searched for the candles.

He found them and pulled out a lighter. He wasn't a smoker but he learned early on that having a lighter came in handy. Many of the soldiers back on base did smoke and so did enemy soldiers. Sometimes you could make a bargain with them if it included a light.

He lit one of the candles, leaving it in the kitchen and then came back to see that Samara had found the blankets. And she had been quite successful.

"I got a candle," The only light in the room was coming from the fire place. It wasn't much, especially since there wasn't much wood in there. He lit the candle with his lighter and sat it on the CD shelf, moving the radio to the floor,"Hope you like Lilac and Honeysuckle."

Samara had just been standing next to the fire, staring into it in a bit of deep thought. She found herself mulling over their dance and how lovely it had been. She had enjoyed being held close to him and nearly blushed again as she remembered how he brushed hair from her face. Her finger tips touched her cheek as it was almost as though she could feel the ghost of his touch.

Samara jumped lightly and turned to look at Fabian, hoping that her blush had been hidden by the darkness that was left. "Good. A little extra light will be good. Damn near busted my rear end in the hall," she said with a shake of her head. There had been a table in the hall with a few decorations and a flower vase that she hadn't been able to see. "Honeysuckle reminds me of home.. It does pair well with Lilac though.."
"I found plenty of blankets. I think the owners may had been older people. It's mainly hand knit and sewed blankets," she said as she motioned to all the blankets. She may had been a bit over kill with it, but even then she could feel a chill in the room. "Hopefully soon the temperature will stop dropping. There's only so much the fire and blankets will handle," she said with a sign before sitting down in one of the chairs.

Fabian had his back turned so he didn't see Samara jump. His gaze had been on getting the candles lit after all. It was pretty dark in the house but the areas he had been were familiar to him already. He was sure looking for blankets in this house had been a fun journey.

But Samara had them. He only briefly glanced at her when she spoke. In all honesty, he was avoiding looking at her. He didn't want to think of her in any way but the enemy. What happened earlier...that was just typical horomonial factors. Everyone had horomones, that seemed believably the cause of what happened. Maybe if he didn't look at her...maybe he could forget all about what happened.

"I love handmade, knitted blankets. Nothing feels more like home than cuddling up against the fire place with grandma's favorite knitting blanket, hot tea, and a good book," He commented, remembering Christmas. Being in the foster care, he had lots of Christmases with many different grandparents. He would never forget the elderly couple that made him feel most at home with a blanket, hot tea, and a good book.

He chose to sit on the floor, grabbing one of the blankets and wrapping it around his body. It was a knitted one, reminding him more of his life in between families. He drew his knees to chest and gave a sigh,"Do you ever miss them? Your family?"

He was sure Samara had a family. He missed the moments of dreaming what a family would consist of. He missed the joy it brought him to imagine what type of family he would have. Of course, none of it mattered now. He would never know what a real family felt like.

Samara had kind of caught on that he was avoiding her gaze, which was fine. Sure, it hurt a little, but overall it was better because she needed to get over herself as well. She stayed in her spot in the chair and draped a blanket across her legs that been close to her.

"I don't know about hot tea, but I do know you're right about knit blankets and a good book," she said with a small laugh. Hot tea was an absolute sin in the south, especially if it wasn't sweet. Samara frowned slightly as he asked if she missed her family. "All the time. It's just me and my dad now, but I haven't seen him in a good while with the war going on.. He's the one who pushed me to go into the military," she said with a soft sigh.

At first she had never wanted to go into the military, but her dad was so hell bent on it and she wanted to make him as proud as she could, so she joined. Now she had wished she had spent more time with her father. It had been over a year since she spoke with him face to face and she knew he'd be worried when he found out she hadn't checked in.

Fabian would never know what it was like to have a family bu if it hurt as much as the thought of having one...he could only imagine. He knew other soldiers did have to worry about their family and miss them. In a way, he was lucky, he never had to worry about anything like that.

His gaze drifted toward her as she mentioned her dad. She didn't have the type of family that he thought of when invisioning his own but that was okay. Looking at her, he could see how much she loved her father and missed him. It must be tough, to have a relationship like that and not be able to see him much.

"There are perks to being a soldier but also many disadvantages..." He said softly, forcing his gaze to look away when all he wanted to do was study her a little long. He tried to ignore that,"But it's great you have a family-even if it's just your father. I've given my whole life to wishing I had a connection like that."

He hadn't told anyone that he didn't have a family. To the rest of his soldier friends, they thought he had joined being some arrogant kid who wanted college paid for. Little did they know that he had actually joined to gain a sense of family, pride, and commitment. Also being a soldier kept him from being homeless or in jail.

Samara nodded slightly, "Family is a joyous thing, but it can also really try you with arguements, death, and things like that." She kept her gaze glued to the fire as she continued. "I understand wanting that connection though. I love my father so much and he's really set an example in what I want for my own family one day if I'm lucky enough to have one." Samara had always given family a lot of thought. She was so family oriented and couldn't wait to have a family of her own one day.

Samara was starting to shiver more, so she moved onto the floor as well to be closer to the fire. If she knew anything, she didn't need to waste any energy from shivering too much. "It's not too late to try and find someone to share that familial connection with though. Family doesn't have to be blood by any means," she told him as she glanced towards him. If the military had showed her anything, it was that some of the bonds you can develop were unbreakable. She had seen so many soldiers who had sibling like relationships with one another and she had seen the love that can come from being with the right person.
