Dev nodded. It was reasonable, they could get up there quickly, do some stuff that'd guarantee them a good grade, and not have to walk or bus up there.

As for his address, however... yeah, that was not happening.

"I'd prefer if we can just meet up in the library on site then go there whenever's convenient," he told Orsion as such. Yeah. That worked. He could just do something like that, and they'd get it done quickly.

Dev spared a glance at Orsion before looking around the rest of the class. "Did the professor say we needed to tell him what we're doing? Or should we just go and quickly do some research while we have time. It'd shorten the amount of time we'd need to spend later, at least." The rest of the class, Dev noticed, was either fighting over what they were doing, actually doing work about whatever they had chosen, or... fighting over what they were doing. Dev could have definitely said it was probably a bad idea to have decided the groupings for them considering how many of the othes were in disagreeal, but... what could he say? He just wanted to get it done as fast as possible, unlike what appered to be the majority of the class.

Orsion bobbed his head lightly and glanced up toward the brown haired student once more. His green eyes scanned over him for a brief few seconds. He... he'd be a good partner. Someone with his head on his shoulders, who wouldn't just leave him behind to do all the work. Yeah.

Unlike most of the other students who were either working on things or fighting about it.

"I can tell him what we're doing," Orsion offered with a tip of his head, pushing a hand through his hair. "I'll meet you at the library... hmm..." he glanced down at his watch on his wrist. "... how about two thirty? I've got an extended lunch today, if that works for you? I don't know your schedule."

The young man stood up again, tipping his head. "Let me tell him real quick while you look at that," he stepped past Dev and made his way down the steps toward the professor. "Yeah--we have figured it out. We're going to do some research on the old fort just north of here by the lake. Yeah, it's interesting," he gave him a thumbs up and paced back toward Dev.

"Two thirty work for you?"

Dev nodded briefly. "Two thirty should work well enough for me." Briefly thingink bagc, he quietly nodded to himself - it shouldn't clash with anything, hopefully. A bit rushed, but hey - they both mutually understood to get it done as fast as possible while getting a good mark, which... meant such.

He looked around again, somewhat understanding they were meant to be studying for it somehow. How? Usually, Dev's first idea when he actually wanted to get something done was burrow himself into the library and not come out until the next class. Which, he guessed, was exactly what he should be allowed to do.

"I guess I'll see you then," he nodded respectfully at Orsion before turning away and making his way to the library. At least he had a similar drive to actually get it done, and wouldn't be just sitting back and mostly doing all the work - while Dev did like working alone, and sometimes when they conflicted, groupwork was uncomfortable, but Orsion seemed chill enough that it wouldn't entirely be too much of a concern.

He hoped, at least. Then they'd get it done in record time.

Orsion gave him another thumbs up as the young man walked away to get to wherever he was going. This young man was particularly strange but whatever. It was just for a project and he wasn't going to ask any questions. The less time wasted... the better.

But, if he was being honest, Orsion was starving. He had missed a bigger breakfast that morning and now he was regretting it.

Half an hour later, he had finished eating and now drove his way toward the library. The young man pulled into a parking space, glancing up as the leaves of the trees around the library fluttered in a crisp breeze. His hand grabbed the backpack from his passenger seat and swung it around to his shoulder as he made his way up the stairs of the building and into the foyer.

"History?" He asked the librarian at the desk. She pointed left and he followed her directions, making his way down the shelves until he spotted a familiar brown haired student.

"Hey, Dev, right?" Orsion sat down at the table, his voice low and respectful. "You find anything good yet or just the same ol' boring Fort stuff?"

They had built the fort in the early days of war, they fought at the fort, the fort was then abandoned because nobody needed it anymore.

It was relatively usual garbage.

Dev shut the book he was leafing through with a satisfying clack. Honestly, only half an hour in and his brain was just filled with pointless facts. "Not much, really. Stuff we already know about it, what most people know. It was built. It got used like once. It got abandoned." Dev sighed in frustration. "There's got to be something in here somewhere that goes into more depth than that. Why it was used, why they stopped using it, stuff like that." He cast a disparaging look at the book he had been checking. "I'm not finding it at the moment, though."

With that, he looked back up, realizing... Orsion was here, which meant... he looked at the clock on the wall and realized it somehow was already 2:30. He hadn't been paying attention to the time, had he?

"Right. Well, I guess let's just go to our favorite fort and have a look around to see what it is, I guess?" For that was what Dev had almost forgotten that they were doing, so stuck in a rut in his research. He stood up and stretched a bit, back cracking slightly - he was not old - and looked at the book he had been looking through. Sighing briefly, he bent down picked it up.

"I'll put this away quickly, I'll find you outside in a moment if you'd like?" He couldn't just leave the book lying there, really.

Orsion wasn't terribly surprised at the information that Dev was giving him in return. It was used, it was abandoned... the likes.

Orsion rested his weight on one foot, his hand tucked into one pocket while he mulled his thoughts over in his head. The books around them were doing something, for sure, but he had a feeling that if he asked around the museums they'd probably have more information. After all, that was their job right?

It wasn't until Dev stood up and spoke that Orsion pulled away from his thoughts before he tipped his head with a brief nod. "Sounds good enough to me," he pushed one hand through his hair and stepped back to look back toward the door. "I'll meet you by the doors," he waved one hand and made his way back toward the door.

The old fort was north, they could take a back road pathway that was way more fun and less busy to get to it. Besides, Orsion liked driving the backroads. There was something about being way out there in the trees, between the fences of farms, looking out to the lake and then coming up to the old fort.

He wasn't going to lie, he drove that road often.

Orsion pushed a hand through his hair as he walked through the doors and leaned against the metal railing just in front of the stone steps. His green eyes scanned the sky, checking the weather silently. It was a crisp day but there wasn't a cloud in the sky. They'd have good enough weather to go trekking around the old fort.

Dev dumped the book back onto the shelf where he had gotten it and headed out to where Orsion was waiting for him on the steps, Nodding a farewell to the librarian behind the desk, he stepped outside, finding Orsion right where he said he'd be.

"Alright... I guess, let's get going. No point wasting more time." He fell into step next to Orsion. "Where'd you park your car?" Truth to be told, since he personally didn't have a car, he barely even knew who had one or where they were meant to park it. It just... wasn't relevant to him. At all. So he didn't really know, or care.

Hence why he just kind of had to follow Orsion as they made their way through the campus. Heck, even if he knew where the carparks that they could use were, he had no idea what Orsion's car looked like.

All in due time, though, he guessed. It wasn't that big of a deal. Instead, he turned his mind over the sludge he had absorbed in the library.

Old. Used before. Abandoned for unknown reasons. The textbooks were not giving them much more than they already knew. Next to a lake. In shambles. He honestly didn't know that much about it, but surely they could find something about it? It was definitely a local feature that had to have been written about somewhere. Maybe he hadn't been looking in the right place?

Orsion glanced back as the doors opened. His eyes followed Dev as he stepped up beside him and kept pace with the other young man. "It's just down this way," he gestured down the sidewalk, "the library at least has a lot of parking--sometimes they'll do testing and whatnot," his hand waved idly, loosely. Along the sidewalk, cars of all kinds were parked and a few scooters. Bicycles were also abundant and chained to bike racks, rests and the likes.

"That little car up there," Orsion lifted his hand to point toward the red car. "That's mine."

The little red Pontiac Fiero was a sporty little bugger of a car. The sports car was honestly intended as a commuter car--which was a little strange considering its unique build and similarity to the firebird. The 6 cylinder engine and manual (or standard) transmission made for a rather fun car to drive.

"This little thing is a two seater--it's a 1985 model, which is fairly new but, luckily, it also came with the power steering issue fixed. Apparently, that was an issue in older models. It's just a five speed manual--pretty standard."

He opened the door and sat down, tossing the back into the trunk. Yeah, there's some rumors about things catching fire--but if you just keep up on your basic maintenance, you're not going to catch on fire. Who knew?"

He shook his head, scoffing lightly as he turned the engine and backed out of the space, keeping an eye out behind him. The drive was smooth and ... mostly filled with Orsion rambling about the car, other cars, the fort itself, the backroad he was driving and also the lake.

Heaven forbid, he shut up.

Dev let him speak, only replying where he needed to with the briefest "hmm" and "yep". So, he was definitely someone who enjoyed talking - not that it bothered him, because he could definitely nod along and "listen" well enough. Really, he was saying something about... another car? That was somehow related to... his car? Dev hadn't been following what exactly he had been saying, but nodded in agreement once more as he seemed to pause as if waiting for his approval.

"... mmm." Dev was definitely not zoning out ever so slightly. No, not at all. Wahoo.

In his defense, he didn't have the heart to tell Orsion that he didn't really care. And what was the harm in it? Orsion could just... happily chatter along, and Dev just had to nod his head in agreement once in a while. No offence to Orsion, but... he could listen, but he didn't really care that much.

In all honesty, he was just looking out the window, watching the rolling countryside as Orsion chatterred about... the road they were on. Hmph. When did he get to that topic? Deverick zoned out again, choosing instead to nod his head and look at a passing field of cows with more interest. At least they weren't rambling about... Dev had lost track of the conversation by that point. Welp.

More or less, Orsion did enjoy talking. He did not enjoy silence with others because it left him alone with his thoughts, his worries, struggles--the likes. Where, in return, if he filled the silence around others, he didn't have to worry about any of those thoughts creeping up and making a mess of things.

The old fort had stone walls that still stood up around the lake, the wood had seen better days, crumpled and rotted. One of the walls had fallen, revealing the empty interior of the fort itself. Old pier logs remained in the water as a guide to where the original pier and boat dock were.

The water was calm. For a brief moment, it almost looked... pristine. Like a moment out of a photograph.

Orsion pulled to a brief stop, pulled the handbrake, turned the engine off and stepped out with a brief stretch. He lowered and set his hands on his hips, looking at the fort.

"I guess it could be kind of freaky in a way," he commented, rubbing the back of his neck for a brief moment. "More or less? I guess?"

He shook his head clear of his thoughts and glanced back at Dev. "Let's look around and see what we can find, eh?"

He didn't bother waiting for an answer, making his way over the grass and wild foliage up to the base of the fort. Now that he was close to it... the fort was much larger than he had expected.

"Huh."
