Kalen watched the one turn tail and run. Which was what he figured. Could he have taken on the both of them? Ehh... it was iffy. But a solid just one of them? Whose head was shoved too far up his butt all he could see was his own ego-colored glasses? Far too easy. Easy enough that as the rogue snapped his jaws at Kalen, the brute of a wolf shoved his shoulder into the rogue's jaws. He wanted a bite? Oh, he would get a bite. Kalen all but shoulder-checked the rogue face to shoulder blade, where there wasn't much meat to grab, and a solid wall of dark fur. "I'll give you two chances to back out and go find your friend," Kalen mused, his green eyes dancing with delight as he snorted back at the rogue. A full on shoulder to one's jaw? Oh that had to feel absolutely stellar. Kalen faced him fully this time, waiting for his reaction.

As the rogue was shoulder checked, he yelped again, this time sounding more like a whine. He shook his head, stumbling back a distance as he looked at Kalen. He had tried to put on an intimidating face, but he was failing terribly as he listened to the man speak. "And be a coward? Absolutely not," he snarled, shaking out his pelt as he refused the first chance to flee.
Dont be so stupid... Ivy thought to herself, wondering why the rogue couldn't just admit defeat. To take his chance to run away and live. Instead, the rogue lunged once more, taking to his back paws as he gripped Kalen's shoulders with his front, his sharp claws digging in. The rogue was attempting to make a power move, to get Kalen down so he could ultimately take him out. Ivy was more than ready to intervene if needed, but she didn't want to risk being in his way either and making the situation worse.

Kalen shook his head, the beast swinging back and forth while he tutted in disappointment. "Pity, I didn't want to have to kill anyone today... but here we are." As the rogue lunged forward, Kalen finally made a first real battle move. His rushed run forward felt like a bull running toward an ill-fated matador. A matador with no sword, no help, no way out. His claws dug into his shoulders but Kalen hardly seemed phased, making sure to keep the rogue on his back when he leapt upward, pushing with his front paws and crashing down to the earth on top of the rogue.

Ivy watched, her heart thrumming to an even fiercer rhythm. A sharp gasp fought its way from her lungs at the way Kalen retaliated, pushing upwards with such power. The moment that the rogue fell to the ground on his back, Ivy knew it was over. There was no way it wouldn't be.
The sounds that followed were that of Kalen crashing down into the rogue and then that of bones breaking, snapping beneath the force and pressure. It was such a sickening noise, causing Ivy to flinch and glance away.
The rogue had stilled, his breathing labored greatly, evidence that at least a few of the broken bones had been ribs. "M-Mercy," he pleaded, true fear now in his eyes as he was bound for death.

If Kalen was entirely honest with himself and everyone else, that feeling of bones and muscles snapping under his back was perhaps the worst feeling he had ever felt. It wasn't the same of chewing down on something, where it didn't really matter. But that feeling? That sound--that seemed to shake into his chest as well? Oh that was not something he wanted to feel any time soon. Still, he forced himself to his paws, looking down at the rogue with cold green eyes. The playfulness was gone, the cold and hard glare remained. "Mercy was offered," Kalen replied with a stone-cold tone. It was neutral, grim and distasteful. "This is justice. If you survive, good luck." He turned finally and looked back at Ivy. "You're okay?"

It wasn't likely the rogue would survive. Not with the injuries he'd just sustained. He'd have a glimmer of a hope if his friend returned, but Ivy didn't foresee that happening either. Her golden gaze lingered on the rogue who wheezed and attempted to crawl away, her attention only shifting as Kalen spoke.
Ivy padded towards him, nodding slightly. "Yes, thank you," she confirmed, looking the male over for any injuries. "Are you alright?" She asked, shifting her weight from one side to the other. She would hate if he'd gotten hurt on her account, but if he was hurting, he hid it quite well.
Ivy waited for an answer, her heart beat finally slowing. She was still weary of this man, but he hadn't given her much reason to worry so far. "Are you in need of somewhere to stay? Even for rest I mean?" She asked next, willing to offer him shelter as well as food if he'd like to rest. Her pack was usually hospitable to those who passed through without trouble, and they'd be even more inclined to help since he'd done Ivy a favor.

Kalen watched the injured rogue drag himself away, certainly hurting and likely not long for this world. There was a slightly pained but mostly cold glare in his green eyes. The same green gaze that shifted when the smaller brown wolf slid closer. He remained still under her gaze, likely searching for any injuries. Perhaps a few tufts of dark missing fur on his shoulders, back and maybe his shoulder. "I'm fine, yes," he bobbed his head. "Yes." Kalen let out a slow breath and shook his head, tail swinging back and forth. "Tch, idiot rogues. Some of us, rogues, need a place and good luck. They definitely don't make it easy." Finally, she asked an unusual question and it caught his attention as he glanced over toward her. "I--I mean, well, I ... I wouldn't turn it down. But I'm not planning on... uh... staying for long, y'know?"

Ivy relaxed as he said he was fine, becoming content with the fact he didn't seem too marred. "Indeed. Rogues like them have been quite bad in this area. I don't really know what's going on, but I feel sorry for those who get a bad reputation because of them," she shook her head, taking a sitting position with her fluffy tail curled beside her.
Ivy tilted her head slightly at his response, wondering if it must had been an odd question. "I see.. Nonetheless, as a thank you for saving me, I'd love to give you a place to stay until you're ready to move on." Her ears swiveled, listening for any sounds in the distance. It would seem that things had went back to normal, wildlife chittering around them as the sun had came out and warmed up the lands a bit. "My pack should be just as welcoming towards you," she explained, hoping that he didn't feel like he should if he didn't want to.

Kalen settled down as well, his heart beat slowing down as the rush of the fight began to wear off. He found himself a little sore but not too bad. "It's... not like that," Kalen finally said quietly. "I just need a little place to calm down... maybe figure out where I'm going after this." His ears swiveled back, showing the slight sign of discomfort at talking so much. Or perhaps listening. "I hope they're as accepting as you say. But it shouldn't be too long, not enough to be a nuisance, y'know?" A loose chuckle escaped as he glanced around. "If you don't mind ... showing the way?"

Ivy gave a low hum of understanding, her tail swishing at her side. How long had this man been on his own for? She hadn't failed to noticed the sense of discomfort, but had decided not to comment on it as she didn't feel it to be her place.
Ivy laughed softly, a glint of a smile on her face. Her pack might be weary at first, but with her at his side, they should relax rather quickly. Ivy was known to be on the skittish, shy side of things, so she wouldn't trust just anyone. "Yes, of course," she nodded, rising to a stand.
"Come along this way. We aren't far," she added, beginning to walk towards the way that she'd came. It would be about a ten minutes walk, five if they ran. Either way, Ivy was itching to be back on two feet rather than four.
