Of course the criminal had a dog. Why did they always have dogs? He trieid to slip deeper into the isles but of course the dog gave him away. He wasn't sure what to do in this current situation but he knew one thing he could do. He slippped his phone out of his pocket and called one of his cop friends on duty. He knew the isles would hide his actions. He turned the phone all the way down and then on speaker so his cop friend would be able to hear what's going on but the criminal would have no way of figuring out he had his phone.

Of course with his hiding spot found, he decided to to give it up and announce his presence. He stepped out between the isles with hands up. Surrender one might assume. But really he needed his cop buddy to hear what was going on.

"Excuse me, Ma'am," He made sure his voice and hands trembled slightly. He knew nothing else would give away that he was a police officer. After all, he had never seen this criminal before in real life. Just in wanted ads all over the station. He couldn't think of her name,"W-What do you think you're doing?"

He knew he needed her to say what she was doing. He knew if he played the dumb guy in distress that would happen. He needed one more thing to sound believeable though.

"Please don't hurt me. I-I just wanted some water."

That should fix it all up. He knew the clerk kept on looking at him. He just hoped the clerk didn't recognize him and blow his persona, or at least who he was trying to impersonate.

Maverick watches as the man slips deeper into the aisles, now his hackles were up and his ears were pinned. "Maverick. Sit." The Doberman Pinscher reluctantly obeys, but he still had his ears pinned and his teeth bared. His dark eyes still tracking the man. With her dog focused on the second man, her main focus was on the clerk. "Oh, come on. I know your trembling, but surely it doesn't take that long!" The clerk flinches as Rylee adds,"I'll just add, that I played softball when I was in highschool." Rylee tips her head,"Well, whenever I was passing my classes I played."

Her eyes gleam slightly,"And I had a hell of a swing." Maverick lets out a growl, alerting his owner of the second guy moving closer. Rylee turns half of her attention on the second guy as he moves out of the aisles. She listens to the man. An easy smile plays across her lips,"What am I doing?" Mischief enters her cold grey eyes,"Why, officer. I'm robbing this poor man here. Y'know, just getting a little cash." She kept up with the cops of the city, especially the ones that were stationed the closest to where she lived. She didn't know there names, but she did know their faces.

She lazily gestures,"Then get your water, and go." She tips her head,"Feel free to go back to the station." She grins again, though it did not reach her eyes. "I do love it when the cops come around." She turns back to the clerk,"Are you done yet?!" Her voice was sharper now, she wasn't as relaxed, she'll admit that. Now that she had been discovered, she was a bit more alert. The clerk flinches as he hands the filled bag over to Rylee, who takes it. "Geez, took you long enough." She glances down at Maverick,"What do you think, boy? Should we stick around for the cops to arrive? Or should we just go now?"

Dammit....

He might not know the criminal personally but she knew who he was. Or roughly. Maybe she was smarter than he thought she was. Normally criminals didn't put records on cops, or at least the ones off duty. Now he was left wondering what his next move was going to be. He knew that he had captured the information he needed to act. His cop friend would be ready to head out while they spoke. He just needed to distract her and keep her here a little longer.

"O-Okay," He walked over to the water, his back partially turned to her but still very much aware of her. He wasn't really after water. He had spotted exactly what he had needed. It seemed like she wasn't too interested in him though. Perhaps because he wasn't in uniform or had his normal gear. He opened up the door for the water and went to grab it, but instead he grabbed the sales tag bar. That was a bar used to slide barcodes and prices on things and was made of metal. He presumed it would hurt severely if somebody got it with one of these. Maybe hurt enough to make even the most wanted criminal cry.

He did work in retail when he was in high school and he knew that knowledge was paying off. The sales bar came off with silence and he shut the door. He quickly moved to the criminal and right when she was trying to decide to leave or stay, that's when he swung.

"Drop the cash," His swing had been aimed toward her hand. He would be sued if he hurt her severely or killed her. That wasn't his plan and it would never be. He preferred keeping criminals alive.

Her gaze trails after the man as he heads for the water, though now that she had the cash, she didn't really care what he did. She did suspect he would try and subdue her or slow her down for the cops to come. But she didn't know which. "Maverick." The large dog was on his paws at once, standing protectively at his owner's side, loud growls rippling from him. As Rylee turns to leave, the off-duty officer was suddenly beside her. Surprise and shock kept her still long enough for the cop to swing at her hand. "Ah! Shit!"

Maverick bares his teeth and lunges, but with her hand she sweeps down to grab the dog and pull him back. "Down, boy." She had kept her grip on the cash and her bat and as she steps away, she readies her bat. Her eyes gleaming. "Didn't they teach you to aim for something a little bit more painful then the hand?" Sure it hurt, but she had a high pain tolerance. Well... A decently high pain tolerance. She narrows her eyes,"Now, just because I'm in a good mood. I'm going to pretend you didn't just attack me."

Rylee moves towards the door, keeping her gaze and front towards the cop. Maverick followed, though the large dog chose to stand between his owner and the cop. "However, I will not be staying around to say hello to your little cop friends. So, if you will. Tell them I said hello, and I do regret not sticking around." She shrugs,"Though, I bet that'll only piss them off." She waves with the bad hand with she was holding the cash with. The bat in her other hand, not exactly up and ready to swing, but it wasn't in a completely relaxed position either. "Toodles." She steps out of the store, keeping an eye on the cop.

He had caught her by surprise, himself to. He knew that this was supposed to be a top-notch criminal. Hadn't she expected he would try to anything he could to keep her from escaping. He hadn't meant to hurt her though so it made him wonder just how much the metal bar hurt. But that thought passed away when she taunted him. She must be one of those criminals.

"You think your tough stuff don't you, little lady?" He taunted back. He wasn't on duty, he was free to say whatever he liked.

She was still standing cash in hand, which was a problem. He moved to swing again but she was on the way out the door. She decided not to wait afterall but he wanted her to. He had to think of something fast. Right when she said toodles, that's when he sprung into action. He could hear the sirens approaching. He just needed to distract her a few more times.

"You know, they say you're one of the best around," Maybe taunting will do it,"But I just think you're a pathetic little girl trying to be something she's not. Why don't you just go home to cry to your mommy."

He slipped in front of her, cutting off her path. The bar was firmly in his hand, as a last resort. He wasn't afraid to swing and his facial expression shown that. He didn't think this criminal had enough not stolen money to sue if he did severely hurt her.

"Not really." She responds, now turning her back on the cop and the store. Maverick would alert her if the man got to close. She shrugs as she calls over her shoulder,"Note the word, they. I don't think I'm the best. I just do what I do." She knew what he was trying to do. Taunt her, get her to stay. But, she wasn't in the mood for it. She didn't care. Though she does come to a halt as Maverick growls, warning her of the cop's approach. Though he simply cuts in front of her and stands there. Causing Rylee to raise her eyebrow.

"I don't have a mother, so I can't go crying to her." She sighs,"If you really want me to stay around for the cops, you could have just said that. No need to be rude." Her grey gaze flickers down to the metal bar then back up to the officer,"And you really didn't have to hit me with a bar." She wasn't going to admit this or even show a hint of it. But the comment with her going to cry to her mother hurt. Mainly because she didn't have a mother. Well, obviously she did, because she was alive. But Rylee had never met her mother. Her parents were dead and her siblings, well, she never met them. She was raised on the streets.

While her brothers were taken in by other families. But she wasn't looking for a pity party. She didn't care. That part of her life was over. She wasn't a helpless little girl on the streets begging for food and shelter. She had a home, food, and a companion. And that was all she needed. Sure the home sucked and was small and could sometimes get to cold or hot. And sure, food was still scarce, and her companion was a dog. But.. It was the life she was accustomed it, and she liked it. It was better then being homeless.

Silas wasn't afraid of her little dog. He had been shot at, stabbed, beaten... a little dog bite would be nothing. He leaned against the door, having her trapped in where she commited the crime and the way to safety. He knew the gas station didn't have an exit door. Well they did, it was the same as in the indoor. She was trapped until he moved, or she forced him to move.

He thought he hit a nerve by saying something about her mother but he couldn't be too sure. He did know this was an ordinary woman trying to be a criminal. He just had that feeling. The rain was soaking through his hair and backside, weighing him down some. He didn't mind though, he had her trapped.

"Oh yes, and I bet your mother's so proud of you now. Robbing a poor gas station that's experiencing inflation. Oh yes, and don't forget making the poor man basically piss his pants," He continued with the taunting, wanting to find out if he truly hit a nerve. He wasn't normally the bad cop, he just needed to ensure that she stay. They could talk out her feelings while she was in the holding cell,"In fact, I bet that's why your mother abandoned you. Because you are just so pathetic."

He could see the reflection of blue, red, and white lights on the gas station's door he was holding open. Time was up. His police friends got out of their cars.

"We have the place surrounded" came the voice over the intercom,"There's no place to run."

He arched an eyebrow and looked at her,"Now it's your turn to make a decision. Make your mother proud or disappoint her." In other words, go to the station or try to escape and end up in the station. He stepped back and away from the door,"Just note both decisions lead to the same place, with me finding you a lawyer that will fight for you or against you. The choice is yours."

And he would gaurantee she had a good lawyer, if she backed out now. He could see partially through the act. Most criminals didn't want to become criminals. They just wanted help.

"Oh, no. I'm sure she's up in heaven wishing I was dead and rotting in hell." The words came easy, she was long over her dead parents. Well, not long over. There were still some things that could hit a nerve. But, she could just as easily throw something back. Her parents were dead, there wasn't a damn thing she could do that would change that. She blinks at the cop,"Oh, please. At least I didn't hurt him. I could have come in guns blazing." She could see the red and blue lights flashing against the glass and she sighs.

She didn't really want to deal with the cops. She wasn't in the mood. She needed the money. "Oh, yes. I know, I am quite a pathetic person. I'm a criminal. All criminals are pathetic." This cop's words weren't really getting to her. He'd hit a nerve with the mother part, but the pathetic part? Oh please, she'd heard so much worse. Her grey gaze flickers past to the on duty cops now outside. "Well, shit. Mav, we've got ourselves a predicament here, boy." Maverick snarls, his ears pinned. And for a moment, Rylee was really wishing she'd left her dog at home. It would make escaping easier. But, she would make do.

"Why should I give a shit if my dead mother's disappointed or not?" She muses, sending a side glance at the cop as he steps out the way. Leaving the doorway open. "Will it though? I haven't been brought to a station or precinct ever, actually." She glances down at the cash and her dog, shit. She really needed the money, she and Maverick hadn't eaten in a few days. But, she could either keep her dog or her money. She could surrender, and escape with Maverick. Or she could sacrifice her dog and escape with the money.

Shit, shit, shit.

Rylee sighs, she would have to try and rob a food place later that night. Find some dog food for Maverick. She tosses the bag of money at the cop,"Come on, Maverick." Then the two step out into the pouring rain. It was dark and the raining was coming down hard. Even with the lights it was practically impossible to see. Rylee doesn't say anything, simply turning and taking off. Both her and her dog blended into the darkness of the storm, giving them a head start.

And so the cards were in the hands of the criminal. Something told him she wasn't going to surrender but he could also see the gears in her mind turning. He found it odd that she had never been caught. He just wanted to help her and make the decision lighter so he threw in the possibility of a lawyer that would fight for her. He had seen so many criminals give up around this point so when she stepped out, that's what he thought he was doing.

But he was dead wrong.

She began running, trying to flee. The storm would make it harder for them to catch her. Immediately a team of officers took after her but he didn't. He just stood there, in the rain, wondering what type of criminal she truly was. She wasn't the traditional one that would have given up at the sign of the first police car. She was smart enough to know that she wouldn't get very far. But yet she still tried.

It took guts to run when the possibilities were against you. Sighing he went over to the police car and sat inside. He was waiting for her to be caught so he could ride with her down the station. It was his day off, sure, but crime didn't have a day off. He would have been called in anyway once they caught her. Interrogations and lawyers were his thing.

She took so many turns that there wasn't a possible way for the officers to keep up, not without tracking dogs and even then the storm would wash away her scent quickly. Because it was coming down, and it was coming down hard. They are halted by a fence, it wasn't very tall, but it wasn't a big issue, they'd scaled fences before. Rylee scoops Maverick up and tosses him over, the Doberman Pinscher landing squarely and gently on the other side and within seconds his owner joins him. "Come on, boy. Just a little further." The two take off again.

They were in the sketchy part of town, there would be plenty of hiding places there. Finally they find one, and Rylee leads the way in. It was an abandoned building with a bunch of crates and things inside. Rylee huddles down behind a crate in the far corner, Maverick hunching down beside her. The two become incredibly still and quiet. She highly doubted the police would find her, it wouldn't surprise her if they gave up. She'd escaped them to many times before, what was another one? She was honestly surprised that they hadn't set a trap for her yet.

After about ten minutes, Rylee deemed it safe to come out and Maverick gets up, sniffing the air. When the dog's hackles didn't raise, Rylee leads the way out, being careful and quiet as they weave their way out of the building. They took insane routes and crazy turns to get back home. She highly doubted anyone was following, but better safe then sorry. Rylee sighs as she leads the way inside the broken down house,"Sorry boy. We might have to go another day without food." Maverick whines as he trots over to the couch and lays on it. A small smile crosses her face as she closes the door and joins the dog on the couch.
