The medium-sized dog stood watch over her home. She was sitting straight and tall; erect ears flicking around at the sounds around her, black nose twitching as she smelled all the things on the breeze that ruffled her wavy black and white coat, keen eyes watching for anything off. She wasn't currently working at the moment, and so she was free to do what she wanted right now. She turned her head to check the blind spots, where she wasn't able to see with just a simple turn of her head. Tilting her head up slightly as she yawned, she one of her ears twitch back, flattening before straightening up again.
Then the Border Collie stood up, shaking, making little dust pieces and fur hairs fly off from her. Her head raised high, she stood still as a statue for a few moments, before moving in a swift, low trot; her head lowered, ears tilted back at an angle. Her path moved in a wide circle, gently curving back around as she glided over the ground. She then stopped, sniffed the air, and kept moving, her track diverting off from the circle. Then after a little bit, she returned to where she had been standing previously.
Stopping in that spot, the dog lay down on her stomach, head on her paws, tail curled close to her sleek flank. Ears still standing up, making her look alert, head occasionally raising to turn and take a better look at something moving. It was still light out, although it was going to start getting darker, she had already been hard at work herding and doing a few other things to help out. She was now resting after a good day's work, she enjoyed the rest, but she wasn't entirely tired out yet; it had been a relatively easy day. Wasn't too hard to keep the herd in line. A more relaxed day than most other ones. While she was clearly at rest, but she was also clearly keeping an eye on things.

Night lay heavily over the forest. No wind stirred the long grass at the edge of the path where a massive German shepherd stalked through the shadows of the forest. He paused, ears pricked, brown eyes narrowed. No moon or stars shone in the sky above his head but street lights thick with growing moss shed an eerie glow on the road in front of him. The huge male lifted his nose to draw in air, though he did not expect to smell any but oil, human and gas. The fur on his neck and back rose as a new scent drifted toward him: the scent of cat, but not the two he had met here before. This was a different cat, he stalked forward, following the scent, until the trees thinned out and he stood at the edge of a clearing, fences that imprisoned animals, red house thing and a regular human house stood before him. His brown eyes landed on the border collie who stared back at him.

The scent of a strange did not worry her, she had smelled them before; and not very often did they come near or confront her. Mostly just skulking around, the area she had come to think of her territory just another stop as they continued to wherever they wanted to go. So the female did not worry, nor waas she especially alerter when the new scent drifted to her on the night breeze. She did, however, keep an eye on it; making sure that the interloper did not come too close. Or else she'd have to do something. Then, movement in her line of sight. And she saw a massive dog.
The Border Collie rose to her feet, body tense. The stranger dog held her stare. The fur along her spine bristled, the hairs on her back rising to the emotional response. Her feathery tail with a white tip, a saber shape commonly seen in herding dogs, rising to a horizontal position; with the slightly curve upwards. She raised her head, ears folded back and to the sides in threat, stance broad like she was squaring up to fight. Her lips curled back from her teeth, and she uttered a wordless low fequency bark, a growl threading through the sound.
She resisted the urge to bound toward the larger dog in a fake charge, but she sensed that it would be a bad move unless he made one first. Physically, she wouldn't be able to match the other, who looked like a German Shepherd but larger and taller than the ones she had seen. In agility and speed, she might have a chance, if she could catch him off guard. She was warning him first, giving him a chance to be the one to back off, but if he pressed on, then she would attack.
"Get out of here, this isn't your territory." She growled at him, snapping her jaws with a quick motion in his direction. Her tail arched upwards, an expression of dominance and aggression, her body ready to dodge an attack. Edited at July 5, 2022 06:41 PM by the Wayne pack

The large german shepherd snarled startling the farm animals, Max tensed up at her aggression; pacing around he barked in deep laughter at her word's his brown eyes sparkled with the amusement of a predator finding it amusing that his prey was fighting back. "Well that's a new one, usually its oh amazing wolf please spare me! Or, brave Maximus we are your servants please command us we Will do anything you want." Even as max talked he still handy attacked the shepherd waiting for her to charge first, as they stared down Max noted every weakspot the dame had. He couldn't stand the stars down and felt ran toward her, circling her everything seeming to be in slow motion for max, "this IS my territory and I will fight anyone who says otherwise; last chance to run lap dog before i tear your head off your body." Max growled out still circling the shepherd his senses on high alert.

The stranger had wolf blood? How interesting, Asteria thought, that is, if he was telling the truth. And he very well might have been, sure his mother or father could have been another dog and that was for the reason how this one was larger than most of the dogs he resembled. Apparently, his name was Maximus as well. She could tell that he was sizing her up as much as she was him, preparing for a fight. The staredown was broken by her now opponent, who had ran towards her, almost prompting a lunge from her. But he instead started circling her.
Hearing his words did little to scare her away, instead they bolstered her, feeding the fire. She turned her head in order to keep the larger dog in her line of sight. Then her lips curled back from her sharp white teeth. Her hackles raised. She would not run, she knew this with a rock-hard certainty. She would rather die than flee, even when confronted with a larger, stronger opponent who she could tell was used to fighting.
"Never." She snarled at him, in reply to the warning to run. Then she sprang at him, teeth snapping at his ear.

Max quickly jumped backward the farm dog missing his ear by 6 inches, he looked at her underbelly and charged forward, as the She dog reared back to avoid his attack he jumped twisting in mid air his jaws clamping onto her neck making a deep enough wound for blood to seep out. He tugged downward making the farm dog stumble to regain balance, he went to pin her his opponent rolling out of the way last second. Grabbing Max by the ear. He snarled as a sharp pain in his shoulder said she had bitten down onto him suddenly human shouting could be heard and Max pushed her away, charging back into the woods. | | | Jason was sitting on the couch watching tv when the snarling and barking happened. Opening the front door a shadow of a huge dog fighting Asteria "HEY!" Jason shouted grabbing his gun, he charged toward the two dogs, just making it to Asteria's side as the German shepherd disappeared. He sighed checking the farm dog for any wounds "That mutt got you good in a few spots, come on I have a first aid kit in the house. Your staying inside tonight girl" Jason patted his leg and started walking knowing Asteria would soon follow.
