The princes words brought forth a quiet snort from Isadora. "I suppose I wouldn't be surprised either. It is hard enough dealing with the two of us," she rolled her eyes, a light, easy going tone to her voice. Sure, they were being cordial in the current time, but she doubted it would be long before the pair found something to argue over.
Her cold blue gaze flickered from the people who shuffled around them to the man beside her. "Mm, indeed. I'm not much of a partier myself, so I know all about getting tired of being at one," she replied before looking a head again. In a distant room, she could hear the voice of her father along with a few other individuals discussing who knew what. Most likely the on going war, but from so far away, Isadora couldn't make much out of it.

Xevon's eyes flickered with some delight before he snorted at her words. Oh he could be an absolute pain in the neck if he really wanted to. But right now, he was more concerned with what was going on in the castle, the land and how long he had to be next to her. The voices were hushed but floated well in the silence of the castle corridors. Xevon lifted one hand, knocking on the cracked door before stepping in. His expression shifted, a lopsided half-smirk, as he shrugged. "Not too late, are we?" The prince finally mused. "I hope we didn't interrupt anything important."

As they'd entered the room, Isadora's eyes met her fathers. She rolled her eyes as Xevon spoke, her arm dropping from around his. Everyone in that room knew what the deal was, so she had no interest in clinging to Xevon if she didn't have to. "Not at all," her father chuckled, gesturing to the empty sofa. "Please, join us. There's much to discuss," he said, and Isadora was a bit surprised he'd not sent her away, though her face didn't show it.
Isadora crossed the room, sitting down on the sofa with her hands in her lap. Across from them sat her father, his grandfather, and a few of the army commanders. The whole deal made Isadora anxious, her expression turning into that stoic one that everyone knew so well. She glanced to Xevon, wondering what there was to discuss indeed.

Xevon watched Isadora cross the room, his hazel eyes flickering with some confusion. Why... was she sitting there on the couch? Still, he made his way toward his grandfather and stood beside him, his expression changing. "They've advanced?" "Through half of the north pass, yes," the king groveled shortly. "But, they did heed the peace of the wedding day. Which we asked for." Xevon glanced toward Isadora with some confusion and then turned his attention back to the table. "... so they can be reasoned with?" That was the point he had taken away from the whole ordeal. The empire wasn't entirely ruthless, considering they had at least held to the wedding peace deal.

When ever she had been allowed in during battle discussions by her father, he had always had her sit aside. It was apart of that 'sheltering' Xevon had spoke of. She hadn't missed his confusion, her gaze flickering to her father as if to explain herself. She wondered if he'd remember what she'd told him before about being excluded. Either way, Isadora dared not disobey her father. He still held power over her, and the only one who could change that was well... Xevon.
Isadora tried her best to listen and make sense of what was being said, her eyes lighting up at the suggestion they could possibly be reasoned with. "Perhaps. So far, nothing we've proposed has been good enough to stop the advance," her father explained, his fingers rubbing his temples. Surely they had to be more negotiable than they were letting on, right? Why allow two kingdoms to combine their power only to still proceed with an attack?

Xevon tipped his head lightly, exhaling slowly. His eyes flicking between Isadora and then to her father. His grandfather, almost sensing the idiocy that was starting to form, drove one elbow into his ribs once again. A grunt escaped as he shook his head. "Hmm, have we asked why?" "The most we've been able to receive as an answer is ... nothing. The soldiers do not talk to us," the older king stated dryly. His hands tucked behind his back as the man paced back and forth. "We don't know much more." "So," Xevon said slowly, "hear me out. What about a diplomatic visit?"

Isadora sighed quietly, her arms crossing over her chest. She knew how stupid it was for her to sit aside as if she were a child, but it was what it was. At least she could hear and ask questions later if need be. So far, she was catching on pretty well, her cold eyes baring into the men as they discussed what to do.
A diplomatic visit would be a grand idea. Perhaps it was what the empire had been waiting on. "That could work. However, it would require you, Xevon, to make the trip north as well," her father added, his gaze flicking over to his daughter, who held the best emotionless look she could. A part of her didn't like the idea of him going north. Another part just wanted to join him to get a way.

"A journey I've made before," Xevon stated in return, his eyes flashing slightly. "Y'know, on other diplomatic missions. Oh--pardon, I don't think you have done that have you?" His grandfather nearly bruised the younger prince with his elbow. "Besides, ugh," he rubbed his aching side and cleared his throat with a sharp eyed toward his grandfather, "if they allowed us... to at least join the kingdoms together, there has to be a reason right?" Xevon didn't wait for an answer and just continued. "It would make sense to go and at least thank them for their cooperation and introduce ourselves as the new... empire or whatnot. Since I think we're big enough together to be considered one. Figure out who's in charge, what's going on and all that stuff." His hand rubbed his side again. "Isadora and I can go there while you hold them off in the north pass."

Isadora's hand flew over her mouth to block any noise. This was too good. Her father had needed that kind of statement for a long time. Even if it earned Xevon another jab to the ribs. Her father was visibly flustered, fuming at the young man's comment. He hadn't been wrong. Her father hadn't done any kind of delegation in years. Things were different now and Xevon was bringing up all kinds of good points.
Her father, however, did not like the idea of his daughter going north as well. It was evident on his face he thought to object, but in the end gave a reluctant nod. "I do suppose the two of you making the journey would be a sign of good faith," he muttered, a small smirk tugging at Isadora's lips. It would make sense to present the young couple as in charge of the empire, but taking on such titles might would be too much to bare all at once.

Xevon tipped his head lightly, unable to hide the rather satisfied and smug smile from his face. The flustered nature of the king was all to easy to pull out. He didn't have to worry about the other declaring war anymore. Which warranted a few quick witted words. Most of which he had copied from his late father. But that was beside the point! "I imagine we will be rather safe," Xevon mused and exhaled slowly, looking toward the table once again. "There will be guards and I'm sure we can request an escort up to the empire's capital," he began to step back and make some brief plans. "How long will it take to request that escort?" His eyes flicked toward the two kings. "I'd rather not leave yet until I know we can secure that escort."
