Hop & Bog / Patrollers / Mentions: Aspen Bog swerved, heading for Aspen as soon as he heard his name. Going on patrol would give him a chance to get warm and limber up, and a chance to find food that didn't taste like it had spent months under a blanket of dirty snow.
Hop loped after Bog, overtaking his littermate in his anxious desire to explore their new territory. He wouldn't be able to sleep well until he knew their surroundings and had a burrow to shelter them. He glanced up at the sky nervously while he was in the open, wary of birds.

Hop & Bog / Patrollers / Mentions: Aspen
Hop's little brown nose twitched. At least it was too late for owls, and the shrubs could give them cover if a bird spotted them.
"Alright." Bog replied shortly, far less cautious than his littermate. Hills were a good place for lichen and roots, and the wind would hopefully dry their wet coats.
The brothers flanked their leader, ready to patrol.

Frost | Warchief | Mentions: Oat, Flurry, Splash, Aspen, Open! Frost nodded along as Oat spoke, his hazel eyes flicking to Aspen as his probable successor appeared and quickly left. The buck flinched as Aspen shook herself, water spattering his pale fur. "That makes sense," he agreed as Flurry spoke, "Frankly, I think it would be good if we could get everyone below ground tonight, even if it's a tight fit - thank you for being willing to start so quickly." Frost wasn't always the best speaker, as his bluntness had been noted long before he became Warchief. Unsure what else to say, the buck hopped away, noting that the speckled doe had already begun to dig again. Frost began to clean his face and paws - this mud was almost intolerable, he could feel it caking his very skin - but stopped at the sound of a voice. "Oh, thank you!" he greeted Splash, nibbling on the grass. It was waterlogged, but that was hardly surprising. Idly Frost wondered if the rain would continue as the day went on; perhaps the weather would break soon. Then again, it was spring, and for all three of his experiences with the season it had been relatively wet. Not that it had bothered him much in the old warren, though.
Leaper | Warclaw | Mentions: Patrol, Moon, Open! Leaper looked up, ears perking in delight as Aspen hopped away without noticing him. It sounded like she had taken Bog and Hop out on patrol. Good; that would give him time to eat the sunflower. Cautiously, the little chimera stole forwards, plucking a leaf timidly from the plant before padding away to a patch of moss and nibbling on his prize. Oh, it was delicious! Wet, of course, but it had such a satisfying crunch, and a sweet flavour. A thought crossed Leaper's mind, and he glanced around, looking for a familiar silver doe. It looked like Moon was resting, and Leaper dropped his gaze quickly. It wouldn't do to be caught staring. Idly he wondered; would she like some sunflower?

Oat / excavator / Mentions: Flurry, Frost
Oat's heart leaped in her chest for a moment. Tonight?! She glanced at Flurry and ducked her head to get back to work. Maybe, between the two of them, they could possibly scrape out a big enough space for everyone to cram in together. If they took no breaks and continued as long as there was light out.
She picked the best of their scrapes, under a scraggly bush and on a slight slope so the rain would stream past, and began digging.

SCENE SETTING for: Patrol
As the rabbits patrolled, the rain turned the ground to mud which spattered their paws. The hills loomed ever closer, the tall larches looking as though they would shield the rabbits from the worst of the rain once they were fully underneath them. The rabbits could feel the pine needles against their padless paws as they continued. At length, a sweet scent would reach Hop's little, black-tipped nose. It seemed to be coming from the north, though they were heading east. What was it, and what would he do now that he had smelled it?

"Follow me" Aspen said they lopped east at a steady pace there were prickly line needles under her paws.

Hop & Bog / Patrollers / Mentions: Aspen
Hop raised on his backlegs, nose twitching, eyes shut. Bog continued on a few steps before noticing that his littermate had fallen behind and stopped, sniffing the air as well.
"Something sweet," he said, unable to place the scent over the dark green fog of pine-scent. Maybe it was something entirely new. This wasn't the old warren, after all. He turned his broad head to Aspen. Investigating or ignoring was up to their patrol leader.

Hop & Bog / Patrollers / Mentions: Aspen
Hop froze like a statue for a moment before dropping on all fours. He began sneaking from shadow to shadow, keeping the trees between him and the sky while he followed the scent. Predictably, Bog overtook him once he was certain he could follow the scent as well. The larger buck shouldered his way through bushes and shrubs, sending a shower of silver drops down his back. If they were lucky, it would be a good food patch. The entire, admittedly small, colony was hungry. Edited at August 29, 2022 03:34 PM by Weeds
