Xola || 6 || Female || Wolf || Eastern Medic || M: Malicia, Newborns (Ind) The darkened female smiles softly at the queen’s worry, meeting her eyes for a split second with gentle orbs. “No, hun, not at all,” she shakes her head along with her statement, “I slept quite well.” At the announcement that all seemed to be well with the pups, as far as the mother could tell, Xola couldn’t help but release a sign of relief – satisfied that her observations, however brief, had been correct. Her ears flopped slightly to the sides as she did so, losing their more attentive stature. “Good. Good. I-” The medic’s ears are quick to perk up the mother’s next question, a request for an herb that would improve and increase the flow of milk. Her eyes flicker down to the female’s stomach which had previously been covered up before. It was indeed prevalent that her supply of milk appeared to be lacking – an issue not commonly faced by the medic, but one she did have a few cases of experience with. Meeting Malicia’s eyes once more, she does on to speak in a gentle and professional tone. “Indeed. I do have some herbs that could help with this. Ginger should help with this,” turning in place, the maneuvers to face the exit, “Anise could be an option as well… Stinging nettle too… but… we currently don’t have any anise in stock and won’t for some time. I’m not sure about the nettle either.” Her head shifts slightly to the side to look back at the female once more, “But, let’s not worry ourselves about what we don’t have, hm?” Pausing for a few seconds to hold a reassuring smile, she angles herself back towards the exit and excuses herself from the den. The world outside had become a serene blanket of glistening white, a glorious spectacle of freezing beauty. The warmth of the den was a stark contrast to the frigid air outside, the larger quantity of canines doing well to keep the shelter warm – something which was of utmost importance due to the little ones. A small amount of warmth was quickly sapped from her body by the chilly atmosphere, dissipating in a cloud mist that rolled off her pelt. Puffs of warm air mimicked this behavior, billowing from her nostrils like smoke as she made the trek to her den. Brushing past the frosted vines, she found her own den to be rather lacking in warmth. No surprise there, really, as her apprentice had seemingly left it some time ago. Though, it was still a far cry from the world outside. Trotting over to her selves she scans over its slightly chilled contents. She would have to be doing something about this later, but now was not the time. After a bit of rooting, the medic’s nose brushes up against some ginger – its distinct smell wafting into her nostrils instantly. Grabbing it as gently as possible, she makes her way back over to the nursing queen. Her pace was a tad slower than it was previously, doing her best not to damage the precious material on the way over. Arriving at her destination, she gently sets the herb before the Queen before looking her in the eyes. “Chew thoroughly on this, it should help a little bit.”

Hondo l Male l Beta l Eastern l M: Veracious . Hondo nodded to her statement. He could sense the nervousness in her voice. He remembered when he was at that stage to, being nervous, first patrol with the pack. Of course, Hondo had been born and raised in the Eastern, unlike many of the others who now made up this pack, including Veracious. But he didn't mind, in his sense, he is just like them. Hondo never knew his father, and his mother passed away when he was only months old. He let his gaze rest in the distance for a bit before saying, "If your ready, then let's go." He took off at a trot towards the eastern border. He trotted until she caught up to him, then said: "Hey, I know how you feel, I once had a first patrol too." Then eased into a canter, his eyes keen and sensing for anything nearby, his ears swiveling around his head. It only took a little while for them to reach the end of their territory, that's when Hondo rested into a walk, his tail swishing in anticipation. He turned towards Veracious and asked, "So, tell me a little about yourself. Of course only if you want to." He added quickly, in case his statement offended her or something. He knew Veracious was new, because he'd only recently was told of her arrival. As he awaited her answer, he began to take in the sights and smells of the forest, as it energized him.

Alha | F | Alpha | SUP | M: Pack (dir and ind) "Hang on Freya," Alha called before flicking her tail. She had seen from the corner of her eye, Temari coming up. Turning, she noticed that Quilo was also on his way over. Alha flicked an ear as she waited, taking note that the new dog and Frodo were awake as well. Now all they needed was Shalah home and then the pack would be whole again. She sighed before greeting the two as they came to join her. "Good morning Quilo, good morning Temari. For tasks for the day, you two plus Harry are going to be heading out around camp to learn and mark the camp borders. Find any weaknesses in the camp, I'm sure we have quite a few. Patch them up so we are well prepared. Kenai and Freya are coming with me today to patrol and mark the territory lines. We will not be needing any hunting patrols today thanks to Freya." She said, dismissing them to their tasks with a dip of her head.
Catching up to Freya, Alha gave a nod, "Let us continue now. We should make it to the first border by sunhigh. And watch for traps, they're everywhere." Alha flattened an ear, swiveling the other one to pick up the sounds of camp. Hopefully Harry would keep an eye on the two young ones. She took off at a quick trot, watching the ground and her paws for any traps that might get in her way.

Harry | M | Guard | SUP | Alha, Loki (Ind.) A young doe limped, blood trail on the white coating on the ground. She was weak, seeming to be bleeding out. A large brown dog laid panting nearby, watching her with beady eyes. He stalked forwards, knowing that she wouldn't care if she saw him. Standing ears pinned back, his long coat dragging on the ground. A deep growl echoed in his throat before Harry bound at the doe. She hardly startled as the large 120 pound dog grabbed her back legs, dragging her backwards, shaking her pelvis out of socket. He then finished her off, the smell of infection wafting to his nose. The meat wouldn't be the best, but it worked. His coat, now matted from the wetness, was heavy on his frame. He panted from the heat that he felt, his coat was useless all the time, but especially in the summer. It seemed that he was hot no matter the season. With a solid motion, Harry began to pull the deer back towards the makeshift camp, wondering if he'd catch a glimpse of Loki wandering around. He'd snuck out of the camp quietly, wanting to try his luck at hunting by himself. An audience was the last thing he needed. This doe had been an easy catch, just a couple more hours and she'd died by herself. Blood dripped off his chin, it ran down his neck, making the black mask on his face sticky. Not too long later, Harry and the trail of blood came back into camp, his sides heaving from the heat he felt. No humans out here to help shed his coat. Trotting over to Alha, he stopped by her side, “What can I do to help?” Chocolate eyes alert, tail wagging lowly as he watched her give commands, waiting for his, the smell of information still stuck in his nose. “I'm not sure how well she'll taste, but it's better than nothing.” He said, referring to the doe.

Illusion | M | Lead Hunter | Eastern | Malicia and pups Illusion sat in the back of the dark den, watching Xola and his mate interact without disturbing or getting in the way. Once the Medic left however, he came out of his hiding spot, bumping his head against Malica's and laying down next to her, blocking the pups from the entrance. Gently, he licked around her eyes and ears, his own eyes closed, ears back slightly in a docile way, tail wagging. The smell of milk filled the air as well as the squeals of the puppies. Gently, his head rested on her back, seeming to fall into a relaxed, almost sleep-like breathing pattern, his tail still wagging as he laid with his new family, listening to his mate's heartbeat. Nothing would ever top this feeling, ever. The love that surged through his veins. He would do everything and anything to keep his family safe, and that was something he would live up to. Honestly, he just couldn't wait until they were old enough to play with him. “How are you feeling?” He asked, rubbing his cheek on her coat. Making himself comfortable in her scent. He wanted to make sure that when he left the den, a part of her would come with him. Illusion zoned the sounds out from the outside, listening only to the sounds in the den, his pups, Malica, and of course, his own tail that was still wagging. He wondered to himself what was taking Xola so long, but at the same time, he was so grateful for the time alone to fuss over her. “Are you hungry? Thirsty? Hot?” He pressed, nudging her with his cold nose, worry shining in his eyes. Even in this dim lights she looked perfect, and he swore she was the most beautiful wolf in the world. Giving her a love stare, a content sigh escaped his lungs before turning and licking one of the pups nearest to him. The squeals made him chuckle as he left him alone to sleep. Illusion laid his head back next to Malicia's watching her with gentle eyes.

Veracious Female | 5 Years | Mexican/Red Wolf | The Eastern Mountain Pack | Hunter | M: (Dir) Hondo. (Ind) None. As Hondo began to trot off, Veracious stood still for a moment, letting out a silent sigh before beginning to follow the male. She trotted swiftly over to him, and when she reached him, began matching his pace. She didn't know the territory at all, so just decided to follow right behind him. A scent of hare made her ears flick up straight, and she stopped for a moment, tempted to track the creature down. It smelled a bit... different than normal hares, so she decided it was best to continue following Hondo. Hondo's voice snapped her attention back to the patrol. They were intended to be words of comfort it seems, but she knew he really didn't know how she felt. Veracious didn't say anything back, she just nodded at him in a way to thank him for trying to be comforting. She hated to admit it, but it did help, just a little bit. Maybe this pack wouldn't be so bad after all. Maybe it would be a good change for once in many years. |----------------------------------------| After some time of silently walking, they finally reached the territory's edge. That's when the two of them slowed into a walk. Veracious' ears perked up when she heard Hondo begin speaking again, and she turned her amber gaze towards him. "There isn't really much to know.." She replied, her ears lowering back down. Then, she noticed Hondo was sniffing the air, so she began to smell it too. She didn't smell anything interesting though. It just smelled like snow, and stale scents of other animals. Edited at June 17, 2024 10:44 AM by Matunda

Hondo l Male l Beta l Eastern l M: Veracious . Hondo couldn't help but ease into a smile. "Oh, c'mon." He said, chuckling a bit, and turning his head to let his gaze rest on her amber eyes. "There's gotta be something." He turned his attention in front of him, as they passed a rather large rock on the outside of their territory. Ice still lingering at its base. Leaves rustled as a small breeze passed through, but that's when Hondo stopped in his tracks. His topaz eyes widened in alarm. "This isn't good." He said, looking to Veracious for a moment. He sniffed the air again, just to be sure. "I knew we'd find something, but not something this bad." He paused for a moment letting it sink in. Then turned his attention to the direction the scent came from. His ears swiveled as he listened for pawsteps. He'd never once encountered this animal before, and he didn't want to. Many feared this beast. What Hondo smelled, was a Snow Leopard.

Veracious Female | 5 Years | Mexican/Red Wolf | The Eastern Mountain Pack | Hunter | M: (Dir) Hondo. NPC snow leopard. (Ind) Storm. A soft smile appeared of Hondo's face, and he turned his gaze to meet her eyes. Only Storm ever did that! "What do you want to know? There's not much I can think of to tell." She forced her gaze away from his as she said that, focusing on the path ahead. There was a rather large rock, but by the smells of it, that was outside of the border, and there might be a rival pack living there. All the sudden, a scent wafted through the air. One that sent alarm bells to both Hondo and Veracious. Her fur stuck up on end. "Puma..?" It smelled like a puma.. just fluffier. She asked, scanning the area around to make sure it wasn't stalking them. The scent of blood was mingled in the scent, as if it had been injured recently. "Hondo, I smell blood. It could be hurt! Or it already killed someone..." She mumbled that last part, pinning her ears on the back of her head. A deep rumbling sound echoed from the rock, and a large, white furred cat with black and gray spots emerged at the top of the rock, stained with blood. "That's not a puma-!" She yelped, fear clear in her voice for the first time in a while. It felt like her throat would close at any second now, the longer she looked at it. Edited at June 18, 2024 07:37 AM by Matunda

Hondo l Male l Beta l Eastern l M: Veracious . As the cat showed itself from behind the rock, Hondo's tail briefly hid between his legs. The thing that really made this unsettling was the amount of blood that was on the leopards fur. As it bared its long, yellow, blood-stained fangs, a small whimper of terror escaped Hondo's throat. He had heard terrible stories from all his pack mates who had encountered this beast, and they had the scars to prove it. He did not want to tell others about his encounter with it. The snow leopard glared at him with its hostile amber gaze, the beast getting closer with ever step it took. Hondo protectively angled himself in front of Veracious, as he could smell the fear radiating from her. And if he was correct, these beasts could smell fear, the elders of the pack had constantly reminded him that you have to be aggressive towards the beasts, showing all your dominance. But that was coming from full size Warriors. Not a undersized runt of a Beta. Hondo bared his teeth, his white fangs gleaming. He caught a hint of hesitation in the eyes of the leopard before it began moving towards them again. He gave a short high pitched growl, causing the leopard to stop, one paw raised. Hondo took one step forward, completely shielding Veracious from the leopards gaze. Hondo have a longer lower pitched growl, and the leopard took a step back, Hondo taking another two steps further. This would take all day if it must. Even though the leopard was almost twice his size, it seemed confused why he didn't cower. Hondo flicked his tail to signal Veracious to do the same. A small smile flickered across Hondo's face, maybe the two of them would actually be able to scare off the beast. But that's when a look of cold anger came across the leopards face, and it seemed confused no longer, and lept in attack towards Hondo.
