That still doesn't answer the question of why you seem to be wanting everyone to take pride in your competing more, because it's risky.

Should a firefighter get more praise, because they go into burning buildings over a doctor who stays safely in a hopsital caring for people? No. It's two different things that people can take pride in without comparing to each other. You have to work hard for both.
