Quick question on exploration

So, whenever I go to explore, I pick my wolves, go to highest level and begin to explore. When I spawn, I can see my wolf icon. Normally, I would see the most dominant wolf in my hunting pack as the icon.

As soon as I choose a direction, my wolf icon switches to (normally) the least dominant wolf in my hunting pack.

Is this normal or is there something wrong?

(I'm new to the game, so I'm not all that sure)

This is normal. It always spawns the most dominant, and will switch to the oldest after you move, if you've got multiple wolves the same age that are being explored with, it will choose the least dominant out of the oldest shared age
