-:- . -:- Emmaline (Mal) Hesier -:- . -:- . The young woman nodded when Crew brought up the rules, giving him a reassuring smile as she spoke. "Yep, don't worry, I'll make sure to keep Maddy in check as well." She sent a brief glance to her cousin who was sitting crisscross on her bed, looking between the two. "Oh, sounds good. We'll see you down there shortly." She called after them as they exited the room. Mal whipped around and clapped her hands, "Swimsuits! Did you pack any cute ones?" She pipped, clearly over excited for this. "It depends on what your definition of 'cute' is. I have a few I could pick from." Was her cousins reply, Emmaline's eyes narrowed slightly before she shook her head. "Nah. I brought like six different bikinis," she waved her hand at Maddy before walking to her dresser, pulling out a two piece, tossing it at the younger woman. "Go try this on and I'll get changed as well," Mal shooed the girl out of the room, leaving her to change in her own room. The blonde haired girl hummed to herself as she went through the various different bathing suits. She wanted something bold- but not overly, as there would be younger kids there... "Oh, perfect!" She whispered to herself as she pulled out a matching pair of bottoms and a top. . The bikini had fit perfectly last summer and it wasn't much different this year either, showing off Mal's long, elegant legs and arms, as well as her slimmer hourglass figure. Moving to her mirror she posed for herself, messing with her hair a bit before deciding to braid it loosely down, letting it fall down her back. The two piece was a pale yellow with white floral patterns on it, with the straps being a tieable spaghetti type. The bottoms were more on the modest side, with them thinning out around her hips. She giggled to herself before exiting the rooms bathroom, being met with the sight of her cousin. Both of the girls eyes visibly widened at the sight of each other, Mal's hands going over her mouth, "You look gorgeous!" She squealed, doing another little clap with her hands. Maddy chuckled, "Thanks, so do you." The girls cousin was wearing a dark green bikini, the top being strapless and fitting, the bottoms being on regular bikini size. "Oh, I absolutely love it..." Mal said wistfully, her voice then getting mischievous, "You know- there's going to be guys there." Maddy gave her a side eye, rolling them playfully before walking to the door frame. "We should head down, your mom is probably wondering why we aren't at the party yet.", Mal agreed and the girls headed down the stairs where the two older women were chatting in the living room. "Mum, we're heading down to the party! If you need us, call me!" Mal called before practically prancing out the door and down the sidewalk to the beach. Music soon met both of their ears as they saw people gathering around what looked like a big bonfire, the smell of food in the air. . "Alright, Maddy- I want you to go socialize. Make some friends," Emmaline spoke, her attention already drifting off as she saw all the new people. "Oh, this is so exciting- I'm going to get a drink," she almost yelled over the music as she jogged away into the small crowd. Mal soon found the cooler full of drinks, opening it and taking out a small beer, popping its lid with a hiss and taking a sip. The young ladies eyes scanned the slowly growing crowd, landing on Crew's sister, Kennedy, who was- like most times, on her phone. "Girl, you look so good. What the hell!" Mal smiled as she walked up beside the young lady, "So, tell me. Did you miss me? How's life been treating you?" Mal chuckled, brushing a loose hair behind her ear. Hopefully she could get a conversation out of the younger girl, last summer they had grown a bit close, so Mal was going to make it her mission to get back that closeness again. Maybe even introduce her properly to her cousin...? |

Crew scowled as he heard people start to flood onto the beach, and he swore under his breath, but quickly shut up when he remembered that Clementine was still making sandcastles next to him. He really didn't love the fact that his mother wanted to throw a party at the drop of a hat, but he would never fault her for it, because he knew why she wanted to be surrounded by people. Rosamund clearly struggled with a lack of validation throughout her marriage, and Crew knew that she really just needed the flow and consistent chatting of the people who attended her beachside galas. He ignored the girls who tried to chat him up, and the guys who wanted him to come play beach volleyball with him. The clinking of the glasses was starting to piss him off, and scowling, he sat up, and slipped on a pair of sunglasses, pulling his knees up on the lounger, and stared out at the ocean. He kept half an eye on both his sisters, and frowned deeply as Kennedy started to mix herself a drink, but he sighed, and held back. She technically still wasn't allowed to drink, but it was only one, at least for now, and she could hold her alcohol fine. He turned his attention back to Clemmy, unwilling to let her get ignored since most of the guests were young adults, with a few of his mother's friends. Given the long day of travel, he was exhausted, but his little sisters were everything to him. He sighed, and slipped off the lounger, sitting down on the sun warmed sand, helping her scoop some into a bucket, and dump it over, creating a sandcastle. She smiled up at him, and he relaxed, tousling her already messy blonde curls. Clementine burrowed down into the sand, and giggled, and Crew laughed, helping bury her in the sand. He was still watching Kennedy, a bit on edge that she was going to blow up and go off at Maddy. Thankfully, she still seemed engrossed in her phone and her drink, and Crew yawned, letting the ennui slide over his tanned skin.

As he began to doze off again, Kennedy started chatting with Mal, and Crew perked up, only half-listening. He didn't really care about their conversation, he just wanted to make sure that his sister was being a credit to the family. Kennedy kept a neutral look on her face as Mal spoke, and she nodded, running her finger down the slender strap of her white bikini.
"Mmm. Thank you. It's new, you know. I couldn't handle wearing an old suit when so many handsome boys are here," she said, her voice slightly bored. "I've been so busy, haven't had time to miss anyone. God, but does Beau look like the fucking shit or what?" She hummed, pointing flippantly at one of the guys playing volleyball. Her eyes were cunning as she raked her eyes up and down the boy's bare chest, then turned back to Mal. "Mmmm. It's been fine, all fine. Finally putting in deposits for my second year of college, and all that bullshit. Can you believe how expensive all that stuff is? I mean, the needing to get cute clothes for it and all that. Harvard is soooo boring, I'm not learning anything. Daddy says it's important, but Mother says it's just going to go to waste when I become a trophy wife like her."
Kennedy's lips pinched at the thought, and she shrugged.
"I think I'll make a wonderful bride. Picture a gorgeous sunset, a yacht, a blue and white striped dress. Pearls, champagne, and that jazz."
The blonde girl shrugged, and finished her drink, clearly content in her current environment. After a pause, she chewed on her full, pinks lips and side-eyed the girl next to her, then slowly leaned forward on the beach bar's long wooden counter.
"Sooo," she said, dragging out the syllables, not bothering to hide the distaste in her voice. "Your cousin came with you and your mom this year. God, I love your mom. Chelsea is my top hype girl. Anyways. Do you invite her? Did she like, ask to come? Cause...I hate to break it to you, but I haven't really been paying that much attention, but it kinda feels like she's been eyeing up my brother. Now, I know he's not too bad looking, and he's got all that cash, but...is she gonna like, baby trap him or something?" She asked, running her fingers along the icy rim of her glass. |
