Down, Down, Down, Felled a Shooting Star
It was just a normal night, a quiet, full moon and star filled sky night. The beach lay empty, the cooling weather a tell that the days fun was over, and it was time to be ready for the next rising sun. A being looked below, they had no name, they had no feeling, they were just a simple star being they believed. Unlike so so many of their kin who they had called...friends, as the beings below would say, this star being felt, off. Like they were meant to be elsewhere, to walk and run, and even splash! The others called them a hopeless wanderlust fool for these thoughts, they were just too watch the skies, stay away from the edges, and make sure day turned to night, and night to day. However, They couldn't help but peer, moving closer, and closer to the edge... looking down, to see the gleaming and shimmering reflection. They did not see the edge getting too close, way too entranced by the beauty of the waves, the light that caught in them, and the far glimpses of boats, and they fell. It was such a far fall, and they were so scared, so afraid, they reached for help but... the other beings watched, their friends, unable to help. They were terrified that they would completely just become an old, faceless beings, like few before them. too curious for their good. They watched, as what they thought they were alost seemingly fell away, a soft light holding them, it did not hurt, it was...comforting. They changed, They became who they really wanted to be, who he wanted to be. Excitement coursed through his veins, his new fur matched the wonderful colors of the ocean, with patterns that they could only see from afar! His paws and even tail even seemingly held bits of ocean themselves. Now he trembled, but they did not tremble with fear, but with excitement, and thrill! He looked up again, only seeing starry figures of his friends...He wished he could have said goodbye... so he waved. Waved the goodbyes he could not speak, before he hit the beauty of the ocean! The light that had been so comfortingly holding him did not let it be a cruel impact, but more of just a jump in! As they were in the water, he realised, he could swim so well, so swim he did! Joy crossing his face every second he splashed and played! His fur long, thick and soft, barely even bothered by the cold. Soon he wanted to see more, so they set off to the beach, and once there he realised his hair matched the beautiful sands! Happy and giddy, They began to race along the shore, happilly grabbing any object the sea washed up, and there were many! Almost as if welcoming him to his true home, to where he really belonged! Though, he quickly realised, He needed a name! But, how does one name themself? He began wandering, thinking, taking in his surroundings, before he remembered what another being above had mentioned...that long ago, in a farther place, they call the sea Aigéan, he liked that, they believed it was fitting, and beautiful. He repeated it with such care, and joy, that he out shone the moon. "Aigéan..." |
