Iris
Female | Mentor Rider | Dragon: Nalukraja | M: Nalukraja. Renzana and Draiochlach (ind). Headmaster and Headmaster's Dragon (ind).

Ash and smoke flooded the air as a ferocious, thundering explosion hit the ground. Dirt. Rocks. Pebbles. Everything in the area was hurled through the air, including pieces of that building that just got blown up- that was the Academy. A large dragon plummeted to the ground, bleeding. She couldn't tell who it was through the distant smoke.

Scales from dragons glimmered in the nighttime sky, enlightened by the distant fire. Roaring, screeching, panicking dragons. Something was really wrong here. Iris shrank away from the fire, slowly creeping into the forest behind her. She could see many more explosions going off now, some sending dragons flying through the air from the force of it.

A furious sounding Raj echoed in her mind, the sound of flapping wings behind her. She turned to him, but was quickly snagged by him before she could. "Thanks." Was all she could say. This attack came all just so fast. She couldn't handle the sudden shock. Nalukraja gently rose her up towards the saddle, so she began to climb up onto his back.

Settling into the saddle, her hands gripped onto it tightly. An enraged, yet maybe overwhelmed Raj hissed, his face twisted in anger. Then, he softened at the sight of something, so Iris peeked to look at what he saw. "Oh.. Headmaster Androcles and Jarogniew.." Jarogniew looked maimed, covered in scratches and bruises. "They'll be fine." She quickly inserted in at the sound of Raj's tone changing to a quieter, dread-filled tone.

Peering down where the two headmasters just took off, she saw the frames of the squad leaders, Renzana and Draiochlach. "Yeah. Probably." She replied to Raj, staring at the two, slightly examining them for wounds from a distance. "Should we ask them?"

Xuejiao Tsasanşuurga
Mentor Dragon | Ice Dragon | Female | Mentions : Laika , Nalukraja , Renzana & Draiochtach

The sounds of chaos filled the ears of the female ; explosions had shook the usually peaceful resting area of the dragons. Rocks crumbled and collided around her, her wing had nearly been hit by a heavy rock - but it just grazed her body, her wing was clipped by the it though, which didn't bode well for the female . She flexed her right wing, slowly testing it out, it was still a bit aggravated and she had to give an annoyed grumble at the matter. This was bad, it meant she could slow the others down when the time came from the hasty escape ; there was no matter of if it happened, just when. She was frustrated that she had allowed such a small thing to occur, it was such a rookie move of hers that she had to sigh at her own foolishness. But she could still fly , though she would just be in a bit of pain - and she could do pain, she'd rather not be immobile in any shape. The female perked at the sound of her mate ; and he sounded furious. His sentiments matched her own, though she wasn't vocal about it - just yet. She gathered that he would be looking for his Rider as she was the other Mentor and one of the ones leading this new year's squadron under Renzena and Draiochtach . She needed to look for her own human at the moment, she could feel that it would be time to mobilize soon - and she could buy them some time if needed with a blizzard. She could feel the dampness of the night air, it would be one hell of a distraction if needed - but she wasn't sure if others would be able to weather through her storm because not all were suited for the freezing feel of her icy maelstrom, but it was an option to slow down the bastards trying to get to them . Laika, darling - I am coming to you, she rumbled through her link, her voice silky and calm as she did so. The female descended from her vantage point in the mountains, and unfurled her wings and began flying - she could feel the strain on her left wing but she ignored it. And she went to search for her human.

The redhead must've been looking for her in this mess , and the female found the other rather quickly. She could see her mate getting his rider and so she used the fin on her tail and slid it under the feet of her rider, and balancing the girl, lifted her up to give her access to them spot on her back that she rode from usually. After securing her rider, she felt more comfortable knowing she was in any immediate danger ; and she sent a small trill in the direction of Nalukraja, to announce her presence and to give him some semblance of calm in not to worry where she was. Her head perked at the sound of her comrade, Jarogniew , and she was relieved by his presence but that happiness soon turn to dread as she noticed his state. Her gaze turning to that of horror, he was injured and going into a fight - that did not bode well . She could feel her fins begin to rattle in anger, and a wave of protectiveness rushed over her. Her rider would not be suffering their fate, nor would the young ones she was training be doing the same thing. She looked about the courtyard and was painfully reminded how young some of these students were compared to her and some dragons ; this wasn't fair, nor was it right - they were getting their best years stolen from them by this damned attack. She saw that Renzana and Draiochtach were mobilizing, and she became alert at this. And she carefully managed to make her way over to the side of them. She remained quiet for a second, letting them see her before speaking - in case they needed to compose themselves before they answered her.

" What's the order Ma'am ? " Xuejiao said respectfully, her voice containing professional and respect for her superiors. " Just give me the word, and I am at the ready . " she said, wanting to be a support for her leader rather than a hindrance - she was ready and willing to do anything for the land she had grown accustomed to. Her posture was straight, and poised to leap into action, she do her best of be prepared for any orders that followed.

Marina West

Apprentice Rider | Female | Dragon: Amhuluk | Mentions: Adamos, Amhuluk, Anais (ind), Renzana (ind), Draiochtach (ind)

Marina's leg bounced with nerves as she stared into the flickering flames of the small fire. Everyone was too nervous to go back to bed after Anais had showed up, so Marina sat restlessly with Adamos. She had never talked with the boy much, but he seemed like a good friend to have. She could tell by his absent facial expression that he was thinking. It was the opposite with her. She didn't want to think. She would only think about the what ifs, and she didn't have time for that. So she started talking. She was probably babbling, and she couldn't even remember what she was saying.

"So what do we do-" She started. Her sentence was cut off as a giant explosion sent rock and debris flying everywhere.

Marina didn't even have time to process it before she was knocked out of her seat and to the ground. She covered her head with her arms as debris from the explosion rained down.

Marina lifted her head as chaos descended on the academy. She stood as soon as Adamos's weight was off of her, brushing herself off as she stared, horrified, into the night sky. She didn't object as Adamos motioned for her to follow.

"Amhuluk, where are you?" She called down the bond. The giant sea lizard needed to get his ass down here now. He would be one of the most useful weapons for putting out the fires.

Her attention was once again turned to the sky as a giant dragon knocked over at least half of the barracks before crashing to the ground. Moments later an ear shattering roar ripped through the sky, just as the Head Mast and his dragon rose into the sky and disappeared.

Adamos opened his mouth to speak as another roar echoed through the sky. She saw Renzana climbing onto the back of her venom dragon, Draiochtach. She locked eyes with Adamos as he spoke, pointing in the direction of the squad leaders. Questions churned in her mind as she tried to make a rational decision.

"Let's wait for our dragons, they'll know what to do." Hopefully. She didn't speak the last word as she searched the skies for a blue dragon.

"Any day now, Amhuluk!" She shouted down the bond. He had to be somewhere around here. She fought her rising fear as she quickly tied her hair back, looking around frantically for any of her other squad members. She had only been here for a few weeks, but she had already grown attached to some of them.

Desmodus Draculae
Male | Apprentice | Dragon | Rider: Maximillan | M: Esen. Maximillan. Others.

A crash in the distance, followed by a long, tragic war cry sounded by a quite familiar roar. Desmodus' wings spread open, his talons opening as well from shock. He quickly plummeted to the ground, catching himself before he got a concussion from hitting the forest floor. Confusion swirled through his mind, as he stood, his wings spread out with only his two small feet to support his weight. What happened now? A gruff hissing came from Desmodus, his tone laced with irritation.

The smell of fire made Desmodus change from irritated to alert. His ears upturned and his glowing scarlet eyes opened and his pupils dilated as he examined the surrounding area. Over the trees, he could see the faint outline of fire. Lots of fire. More thunderous explosions and screeching dragons began to sound in the distance, immediately making Desmodus' sensitive eardrums burn in pain.

His wings outstretched, his legs thrusting him into the nighttime sky. His fur was great for camouflage; hopefully none of the attackers would be able to see or find him. A telepathy echoed in his head, his rider's voice alerting him of something- but he couldn't tell since it sounded like static electricity. "Don't worry. I'm coming to get you. I couldn't quite catch what you said, so tell me when I arrive."

Weaving through a few stone pillars, he gracefully, yet aggressively flew straight towards the direction where the weak link between him and Max was leading him. The sound of explosions nearing was making his mind scream to just leave Max and find Esen- but he couldn't do that. Esen can handle herself for now. Max probably can't.

Light flashed, a loud crackling bomb smashing into a pillar next to him, a trail of flame headed from it. Fire engulfed the area the moment it hit the pillar, the force of it flinging Desmodus. Pain surged through his thigh when a large rock crashed into him, causing the rock to break into smaller pieces. He spiraled to the ground, crashing headfirst into the dirt. He tumbled across the ground, dirt flying from his fur and from the ground.

When he managed to get a grip on something and stop himself, Desmodus hauled himself back to his feet, ignoring the burning pain in his thigh. He took flight immediately, as he couldn't spare a second. If he hadn't gotten hit by the explosion, he would've been there already, since he could see the building not too far away. "Max!" He called, his voice rang through the surrounding area, laced with a commanding tone.

Desmodus landed in front of the doorway, his claws digging into the ground, leaving scratch marks through the dirt mixed with a trickle of blood from his thigh. He couldn't exactly fit inside there entirely, so he just reached his arm in there, his wing folded so he could actually shove his arm in there. "Maaaxx-" He hissed, tapping his uninjured hind paw on the dirt impatiently.

Azarimous

Apprentice Dragon | Male | Rider: Adamos | Mentions: Adamos, Marina, Amhuluk

Azarimous paced back and forth in the rookerie, trying to make himself go back to sleep. He hadn't been able to rest since the academy students had awoken, becoming restless as well. He had been tempted to contact Adamos and check in on him, but he restrained. It was odd being attached to another thing. He hadn't depended on anything this much since he was a dragonet, but he was slowly becoming accustomed to it. He also wasn't prepared for the mood change that would come with it. He had nearly ripped another dragon's leg off for nearly stepping on Adamos a few weeks back. Luckily the dragon was from a different squad.

Azar's head whipped in the direction of the courtyard as an explosion sounded, the flare of fire casting everything in an orange glow he knew all to well. He was just about to reach out for Adamos before his frantic statement echoed down the bond. A fear unlike anything he had ever known consumed he chest, but he pushed it down. Adamos had to be on his back before he started worrying about other things.

"On my way." He said hurriedly before launching into the skies. The cool night air rushed over his dark scales, not doing anything to cool is boiling blood.

He swept over the courtyard, trying to find a place to land through the fray of dragons and explosions.

He spotted Adamos on the ground with the rider of the sea serpent. He would make sure to reprimand Adamos for that later. He didn't need the sea beast ruining his rider. He didn't hesitate to land when he saw the chance, making eye contact with Adamos.

"Mount, now." He ordered, a low growl rumbling up his throat at anyone that got near him or his rider. Azar dipped his shoulder for Adamos to climb on. His chest glowed amber along with the tips of his horns, warning everyone that he would hesitate to end anyone that got in his way.

"Is your friend okay?" Azar asked mentally. He hated asking, but he knew Amhuluk would skin him alive if something happened to his rider when Azar was present. Or he would try too. He braced himself to take off, but waiting until Adamos answered.

Amhuluk

| Water Dragon | Male | Apprentice Dragon | Mentions: Marina, Azarimous

Indirectly: Headmaster & Dragon [NPC], Other Riders/Dragons

࿐𓇼𓏲*ੈ✩‧₊˚࿐

“Any day now, Amhuluk!” The large blue dragon heard his rider through the bond, her fear racing toward him. The urgency in her voice spurred him on, he could feel her anxiety gnawing at the back of his mind. Every wingbeat felt like a battle against the searing air, and his worry for her safety only fueled his determination.

Despite the rocky start—where his actions had nearly drowned her—they had come a long way. Marina's strength and unwavering stubbornness matched his own, creating a bond built on respect. He wouldn’t admit it to her, but he had come to appreciate their banter, finding a strange comfort in their exchanges. Lately, he had noticed a more protective edge towards her, an unspoken acknowledgement of her importance in his life. He had begun to care for this human, despite never wanting a rider in the first place.

Amhuluk sent an annoyed huff down the bond, pushing himself to his limits. Due to his monstrous size, he was a slower flier, and the fiery air was suffocating, depleting his water sources and making him even slower. His usually wet-looking scales had a drier appearance, the heat baking the moisture away. He sprayed out as much of the fire as he could, but the flames seemed relentless, licking at the edges of his wings and tail. The heat was oppressive, each beat of his wings feeling heavier than the last. Despite the struggle, he pressed on, knowing Marina's life depended on him.

He opened his jaws wide, a torrent of water spewing forth with tremendous force, dousing a particularly stubborn blaze. He moved methodically, his actions precise and controlled, each burst of water strategically aimed to maximize its effect. The fiery pits hissed and steamed as he worked, but the fire still pushed forward with relentless fury. He felt his energy waning but refused to let the inferno win. His mind was a whirlwind of strategies, each more desperate than the last. Debris fell from the sky, remnants of once-sturdy buildings now reduced to burning rubble. He dodged swiftly, the movement causing a rush of air that fueled the flames for a moment before his water doused them again.

In the midst of his actions, Amhuluk saw a harrowing sight: the Headmaster and his dragon, once formidable and inspiring, plummeted from the sky. The scene struck a chord of dread and sorrow within him, but he forced himself to remain focused. He watched as the duo fell, the Headmaster's dragon roaring defiantly until the end, crashing amidst the raging flames. For a brief moment, time seemed to stand still as Renzana rushed to their side.

Amhuluk let out a breath of relief as he saw the Headmaster and dragon were still alive, still fighting. The powerful duo took off into the sky once more, and Amhuluk let out a screech after them—bidding them farewell. He knew this was not a battle that would be won, but he admired their determination to fight till their last breath.

It was then that he heard Draíochtach’s thunderous roar, a rally cry for the dragons and riders. He noticed more dragons and riders heading towards their squad leader, gathering to leave. The fire's intensity lessened as he blasted through it with water, soft sizzling sounds reaching his ears and providing a small sense of accomplishment. Amidst the chaos, he spotted Marina with Adamos and his Fire dragon, Azarimous. He saw the Fire dragon hovering, seemingly reluctant to leave Marina - to that he was thankful.

Debris continued to rain down, and he deftly maneuvered to avoid it, his eyes constantly scanning for new threats. He blasted through another blaze, his massive wings creating gusts of wind that blew smoke and embers aside. Finally, he swooped down to join his rider, his massive form casting a shadow over her.

Amhuluk landed heavily, the ground shaking slightly under his weight. He quickly surveyed the area, his sharp eyes taking in every detail of the mayhem that once was the Academy. His gaze found Marina’s, and despite his hard eyes, fear nipped at him. Not for himself, but for his rider. The smoke was beginning to hang around rather than drift upwards, thickening the air with every passing second. Amhuluk gently sprayed water onto his rider’s clothing. Despite the darkness of the time, amusement bubbled up in him as he remembered she looked similar on the day they met.

“Rip some cloth from your clothing and tie it around your face to make a mask,” he growled, moving closer to shield the young woman from any falling debris or fire that raged against them. “You won't need it for long, just until we're away from the smoke. The dampness of the cloth will help protect you from the heat and smoke.” He paused, launching another powerful jet of water, extinguishing a wall of flames that threatened to encircle them. “We’ll need to head to the squad leaders. The fire is too much for me alone,” he admitted quietly. The admission was difficult, but he knew they needed reinforcements. With a protective stance over Marina, he prepared to move, his mind already calculating their next steps to survive this blazing inferno.

Turning to the Fire dragon and his rider, “We’re ready, Azarimous. Let's get to the Squad Leaders.”

Renzana Leclair
Squad Leader | Female | Dragon: Dariochtach | Mentions: Draiochtach, Xuejiao, Laika, Nalukraja, Iris

"On." Was all Draiochtach had to say, and needed to say, for Renzana to reach up and pull herself onto the dragon's back. She settled into her saddle, suddenly grateful she had insisted on having it put on just in case. Always the type to prefer to be prepared just in case than to be caught off guard. She got situated and then turned for a brief moment in the direction the Head Master and Jarogniew had flew. She could already see the carnage brought to Ederia, the flames lapping at the sky as smoke filtered around.

Turning back forward, Renzana looked down at her hands, and then back up forward, composing herself for a moment as she reached and gently ran her fingers along Draio's scales. We can do this. She thought to herself, and nodded, reaffirming with herself more than anything. "Okay." She spoke and then looked around, her eyes finding Xuejaio and Laika first, with Nalukraja and Iris being next. Her focus turned back to Xuejaio who spoke and she nodded gently, her features hardening.

"I need you to lead the way to the Uncharted Island North-West of here. Laika, you and Xue take the first batch of riders we find to the island, make sure they get there safe. Stay on Guard when you get there," she turned to Naluk and Iris next. "You guys will help Draio and I find the rest of our team, and you'll take the second batch over and help them Guard the island. If there are stragglers, Draio and I will find them and bring them, otherwise, if we get everyone in the second batch we will follow suit and ensure no one follows." She paused, and let out a deep sigh, before looking between her two mentors. "We are not to stay and fight. Even if our Rookies want to, even if they insist. Even if they are worried about their families. Our orders, from the Head Master Directly, are to flee. So lets draw as little attention as possible to us while we do so their fight isn't in vain. Time is not on our side, so we need to be quick. And I want to spare them as much as possible from seeing whats to come," her voice was quiet at the end, knowing they'd understood what she meant. Ederia would lose this fight, their brethren would lose so much more. and that was not something she wanted her Rookies to witness.

Renzana knew that there would be several personalities that might want to try and stay and fight, but she had their orders. They would be worried about their friends, families, and she understood that, she was too. However, the best way for them to actually help them in the long run was to abide by the Head Master's orders and run. She wasn't sure what difference it could really make, but she trusted the Head Master, and if he said they needed to run, then they would run.

"Lets go!"

Laika Herriman || Mentor || M: Xue, Renzana, Draiochtach, Iris, Nalukraja, Amhuluk and Marina and Azarimous and Adamos (Ind)

It had happened so suddenly. A suspenseful but quiet evening had erupted into an onslaught of fire and brimstone raining down from the heavens; stone shattered on stone and smoke was beginning to pour out of windows and rise up from the ground. Laika now saw that the missing dragoness and her injured rider has been their warning that something was coming, and now it was too late. Worry was written over her features as she dodged boulders and patches of flames, seeking the radiant ice dragoness that was her bond. Xue wasn't too far; she knew that much. As she was about to call out for her, Laika felt the soothing murmur of the dragon's presence in her mind. She couldn't sense any pain or terror, though if Xuejiao was at all uncomfortable, she could hide it incredibly well -- even from Laika.

It wasn't long before she caught sight of ombré purple scales glistening in the firelight, and she raised a hand to Xue to signal her position despite having already been located. It was a courtesy thing. Laika was plucked up and situated herself ahead of Xue's wings, but not before noticing one icy wing's new shape. With a somewhat dismayed tone, she groaned, "Xue..."

She'd have to drag the female to the infirmary when all this was over, but now was not the time. Xue could obviously still fly, and it wasn't a devastating wound. Of course the calm, stoic dragoness had kept it to herself. Laika let it rest as Xuejiao changed her trajectory and headed for the squad leaders. Draiochtech's venomous frame loomed against the angry flames in the academy, and the air around them was grave. Laika said nothing as they approached the other pair and instead gave a slight nod after her own dragon's words. Laika could see Nalukraja and Iris land out of the corner of her eye, and she sent a quick, tense smile to them before focusing on Renzana's orders. Find the rookies.

Immediately, her eyes scanned the nearby area. She found two pairs rather quickly, and she couldn't hide her relief that they were together. Who knew how freshly bonded dragons would react? Some were temperamental for months after bonding; they could be dealing with friendly fire tonight just as much as enemy fire. However, it seemed that the water and fire dragons were being extra protective of their respective riders -- perhaps because of each other, actually. Oh, what were their names...?

"Xue, there's two pairs headed our way. We can grab them, find one or two more pairs, and escape out along the lake. The water will keep away the flames, at least," she suggested. Laika didn't dare say the quiet part out loud: her dragon would not fare well against this blaze for long, especially with the moisture already being zapped from the air. Their attackers wouldn't stand a chance as soon as Xue reached a good water source -- but their orders were to run. The safety of the new dragons and riders came first, and Laika would haul them out herself if she had to. Now was not the time to play hero.

Esen || New Dragon || Air || M: Laban, Desmodus (Ind), Random NPC

Panic was not an emotion the creature was used to. Despite the growing light of the flames, Esen's pupils were dilated to take up nearly half of her purple-blue irises; normally, she could keep a level head, but this bond stuff was so new, and now she had a little human to protect. That, and Desmodus was out there somewhere doing who knew what. Hopefully surviving. The female wouldn't be able to live with herself if something happened to either of them due to her own negligence -- speaking of which, she needed to start doing something. She snapped out of her shell-shocked reverie and began twisting through the air, bending the upset air currents to propel herself forward more speedily.

"Laban! I'm coming. Don't stay too close to the buildings," she whirred, praying the mental link would work. She couldn't think of a reason why it wouldn't, but she had also never expected the academy to be attacked so brazenly. Who knew what nasty cards were about to be pulled on them all? She winced with every collapsing wall and pillar. Her bond had not snapped, so she knew her little human was alive, but for how long?

Her worries distracted her, and she released a shriek as a large stone fell into her neck and chest, sending her crashing unceremoniously to the ground. Esen twisted and rolled to her feet, stumbling away from the rock and huffing at the spatters of silvery-purple blood that followed her. Her body was throbbing now, but the wounds were all superficial, like the ones hatchlings garnered from their first flight attempts. She would be fine, just embarrassed. Shaking herself out, Esen pulled back up into the air and continued her search for the young man. Where could he-? There!

Esen dove past another section of crumbling architecture and splayed out her front talons, releasing a warbling call to signal her approach to the human. She picked him up, only to realize that it was not, in fact, Laban. The boy was a little older, she thought, or maybe he just looked older. He was smaller, now that she got a good look at him, but terrified nonetheless. While she scanned the area for her actual rider, she asked, "Who is your dragon? Do you know where they are?"

A violently trembling hand was raised to point in the direction of the academy, and a battered earth dragon slithered up to them. The newcomer pulled the boy from Esen and wailed, "We need to hide! Follow me!"

Esen's eyes widened as she watched the dragon and her rider move back towards the buildings. Another cry erupted from her as the earth dragon moved to burrow beneath the stone at the same time the building closest to them caved. The sound was cut short as the structure buried the pair with a sickening crunch. Esen was going to be sick. Her stomach was doing somersaults, her heart stopped, and her vision clouded. Staggering away from the scene, she blindly forged forward, weakly calling through the bond, "Laban... Laban... Laban..."

The somewhat traumatized female nearly ran right into him, and with a relieved whine pulled the real Laban close. Trying to stifle her own shaking, she cleared her throat and rasped, "We need to get away from the buildings. Climb on; we'll try and find a mentor."

Esen hated conflict, and yet here she was in the middle of one. People were dying, and that infuriated her. But could she really risk bringing her brand new rider into a dicy fight? She couldn't even see who was attacking yet. The rage and fear that were building up got pressed down with a growl. First thing's first, she needed to get to the sky, away from falling rocks and dead bodies.

Relief flooded through Adamos as the sound of Azar's voice reached his mind, the dragon's physical form showing up a short time later. He visibly let his shoulders sag and glanced at Marina when she responded to him and nodded. Waiting for their dragons was the smart idea. Dragons were already tempermental at best, adding this chaos to the mix of trying to find their riders wouldn't be helpful.

When Azarimous reached him, he immediately followed his order to mount, and climbed up onto the fire dragon's back, and rested his hand against his warm neck. The strength and solidity of the dragon, he realize was a comfort similar to the one his brother would offer. While Nicodemus was cold and cool, but solid, Azarimous was warm and solid. They were different, but seemed to offer the same security.

At the thought of his older brother, his eyes searched the sky, but he saw no sign of his brother's nightmarish dragoness. "I worry about my brother and Mora, Azarimous. They are out there fighting. I know... I know it's their duty, but they're my family." He expressed silently to his dragon, hating that he was being so vulnerable, but he needed to get it off his chest, and at least with Azar he could do so without anyone else hearing.

As he was situating he glanced at Marina, who's dragon arrived shortly, and he nodded to Azar. "I think she's fine, I didn't see any injuries on her before," he answered, and glanced to Amhuluk as he arrived. He didn't think the two opposing elements that were their dragons would like the proximity to one another, but he assumed right now there were larger problems.

He nodded when Amhuluk said they should get to the Squad Leaders, and the Mentors by proxy, and looked around eagerly. "Do you see any of the others?" He called to Marina, but his attention was pulled to the sky as a shrieking cry came from overhead.

Horror transformed his features as a large mass streaked across the side, black smoke billowing either off her or from around her as the dragon neared the earth. His breath caught in his throat as the orange and black dragon slammed into the side of the mountain, a plume of black smoke mushrooming away from her before she slid several yards down the mountain before falling still. "No," he whispered, his voice haunted and pained.

He could feel as much as he could hear the agonized wail that came from the dragon as she dragged herself to her feet, stumbling a few steps before staggering to a stance. But he couldn't ignore the way one of her hips sagged, one leg limply hanging where it was. The rip in of her wings bled angrily, tendrils of blood staining orange membranes red as she shook them, but let them hang limply in the end. But, after everything, it was the movement of the dragon nudging the rider on her back that had a sob stuck in Adamos' throat. Come on. Move. Move...

The dark haired figure he could barely see on the back of the dragoness stirred, his body jerking up and to the side. Adamos breathed heavily, but didn't relax where he sat. In fact, to see Kikimora and Nicodemus so injured unnerved him considerably. The dragonness wasn't the largest creature, but she was fast. And with her dark colored scales, she was a considerably difficult target to hit. So what did this enemy have that was able to do such damage to his brother's dragon?

Shaking his head to try and clear his thoughts so he could thing, he watched in confounding horror as the orange and black dragon began to drag herself up the mountain. She was nearly invisible in the darkness as she moved, and he had a hard time keeping sights on Kikimora as she moved until she was perched atop the hill. It was certainly a sight to see is brother's own dragon, battered and bruised as she was, sitting like a graceful cat on the mountain top.

Pride swelled in his chest as he saw the female spread her wings as she prepared to fly, ready to return to war without a moment's hesitation. The pair was everything Adamos aspired for him and Azarimous to be. Pride, though, gave way to panic and terror as he watched what looked like a massive arrow slam into the lower chest of the dragon. A choked wail coming from her jaws as she folded in on herself when the momentum of the arrow sent her falling backwards, barreling into the darkness below and out of sight. It took seconds for that single moment to play out in front of his eyes, but for Adamos it lasted centuries.
