It's VERY cute, but it looks almost as if it was colored overtop of an image and than the image layer was removed.
I'd say work on doing more stylized stuff. Make it your own. Don't try to make it look exactly like a photo. Certainly do studies off of photos, but make sure you practice without references too.
With some more practice, you'll TOTALLY be on a roll.
