Supernatural Type
Scandinavian Troll
Klaus is a troll, but he’s one of the smaller ones. Not the giants who lurk in the mountains and steal children at night. No, his people are much more human-looking, and though still considered dangerous, not quite as dangerous as those giants. He lived with his little group in an old cemetery until they overran a small farm. The only real ability he has is incredible strength, enough to uproot a tree, and fortunately something he can control enough to not constantly destroy things. They say his little group had some human blood in them, and that seems to be true because they could go out in the sun. Most trolls would burst into stone on the spot. For Klaus’s people, it’s more like a sunburn. A slow shift from skin to stone, that slowly reverts when they cover up or go inside.

Appearance

Klaus isn’t as tall as you might expect a troll to be, only just making it past 7’5”. Not what anyone would call a giant, and his lithe frame certainly doesn’t give him the appearance of the brute strength he holds in him. He claims to be part human, as far as he knows, and that might account for it. He has a loping stride, and though he prefers to hold himself upright and rigid, the reality of door frames and low ceilings means he’s over hunched over to avoid hitting his head. He has long but rather thick fingers, wide feet, and broad shoulders, but his limbs are thin, even though they’re sinewy and definitely not weak or flabby. He seems to be in pretty good shape, though fortunately that tends to be easier for the supernatural. Actually, he does have the kind of frame that might make a grandma force-feed him pasta because he’s “too skinny,” but besides that he seems in good shape.

Klaus’s face is also rather long, with high cheekbones and a sharp chin. It could almost be called a handsome face, if the facial features on it didn’t completely ruin it. His mouth is fine - a bit wider than usual, and with two rows of extremely sharp-looking teeth. But then there’s his nose, right smack dab in the middle of his face, a huge thing with a bridge that bulges outwards and a tip that droops down like melting wax. By any standards, it’s not a pretty nose, and it’s very noticeable. The next most prominent feature of his is his eye. It has a somewhat rounded shape, a bit larger than a normal eye, and glows a bright yellow. In the sunlight it looks like a dim light bulb. In the dark, it’s positively alarming if you’re not expecting it. When he blinks, it flickers ominously. This is his left eye, and for the most part you’ll never see the right side of his face. But on the rare occasion that you can see the right side, you’ll see a blank stretch where his right eye should be. Usually, though, his huge mane of shaggy black hair is covering up half of his face. It’s wild and thick, and goes nearly down to his shoulders, and is constantly getting in his face. Now and then he tries to slick and tie it back, and wears sunglasses to cover up his eye and lack thereof.

Klaus is a sharp dresser, and usually goes for a business casual look. White button-ups, suspenders, black dress pants, coat jackets, those kinds of things. During the day he always wears gloves, usually his tan-grey riding gloves but sometimes white silk gloves for formal occasions. Before he came here, he usually had trouble finding any clothing that would fit him. Now that he’s in a place where a 7’5” person is hardly out of place, he’s brought his wardrobe up to three good outfits, and a number of oversized shirts and plain jeans for emergencies. Mostly, though, he cycles through his three main suits and does a wash every other day to ensure he doesn’t have to wear his backup clothing. His suits are black, dark blue, and dark green. He always wears a wide-brimmed straw hat with a stiff brim to keep the sun off of his face, a pale cream in color. He has a new pair of wayfarer sunglasses with amber-tinted lenses that he’s getting into the habit of wearing more, and folds and tucks into his breast pocket when he’s not wearing them. He has only one pair of shoes, black loafers that are a bit scuffed but still serviceable. He usually has a water bottle sticking awkwardly out of his pocket.

Personality

Cold • Sometimes Emotional • Introverted • Awkward • Loyal • Pushover • Protective • Passive-Aggressive • Drifter • Non-Violent • Appreciates Mystery • Honest

Klaus comes off as cold and closed-off at first, the kind of person who keeps his feelings close to his chest. He is, in general. But when he does get emotional, he gets very emotional. If he’s really pissed at someone, he yells his head off at them. If he’s sad about something, he might just be crying over it. If he’s really happy, he’s all laughs and smiles. It can be hard to tell what will go far enough to spark a real emotion in him, though. He usually defaults to a more detached demeanor, but this transforms into an awkward demeanor when people match his coldness with warmth. He’s historically been an introverted person. He’s used to rolling into town unknown to everyone there, and leaving pretty much the same way. He’s never been forced into close proximity with people like this before, and it’s strange to him. Being anonymous has always been a way of life. He was born without an identity, never technically existing in the world. Not on paper. He always wanted to be somebody. That’s why he chose to give himself a human’s name, and to walk amongst them. He’s looking for approval from a society outside of his own. When he came to this town, he almost thought: could this be it? So many people, so many differences, and they all seem to get along. But that didn’t last long.

Klaus wants to be like other people, whatever that means. Mostly, he just wants them to like him, though he’s unwilling to put in the effort to be friendly. He’s not used to socializing, and every social cue and fine nuance is a bit more difficult than it needs to be. So when someone is nice to him, he’s thrown off balance. He takes a while to determine whether they really mean it, but if they seem sincere he mistakes that for a deeper bond and latches onto them hard. His loyalty is undying and unwavering, and much too easily earned by anyone who can trick him into thinking they like him. And he’s easy to fool. He’s always supportive of things his friends do, despite the cost, because he doesn’t want to make them feel bad about themselves. He’ll defend his friends’ choices to anyone, regardless of his own opinion on the matter. He gives in too easily, and won’t put up a fight unless he’s doing it on behalf of someone else. Waiter forgot his fries? Whatever, who needs fries, he’s fine. Waiter forgot his friend’s fries? He’s in the kitchen asking where the hell his friend’s fries went.

He can be quite nasty when he dislikes someone, passive-aggressive and saying things under his breath but never to their face. He’s not exactly a gossip, but he’s perfectly willing to talk badly about people behind their backs. He’s no fighter, either. He’s perfectly capable of fighting, technically, with the immense strength that comes with being a troll. But he’d rather talk, and in fact he’ll back down before he starts a physical fight. He values his integrity, and isn’t the kind who would ever break a law or important rule. He trusts authority to know what the hell they’re doing. He strives for honesty in himself. He’s an upstanding citizen, or he would be if he could just settle down and get a real job. He disapproves of certain types of people - law-breakers, hoodlums, violent people, even humans to some extent. He enjoys the abstract things in life - be it art, philosophy, or just an abstract way of thinking. He hardly seems the type, honestly, with his crisp suits and perfect grammar. But he likes things that are bizarre or unexplainable. After all, isn’t everyone here a little bizarre and unexplainable? Why try to explain something that’s beautiful when it’s just mysterious? Except for scars, he hates not knowing where people got scars. It seems to him they’re hiding something big and potentially dangerous about themselves. But overall, he can find the beauty in a mystery, as much as he finds beauty in routine and rules.

Voice & Accent
Klas has a dry voice, of average pitch for a man his age. Typically not too much inflection unless he’s emotional. It has a clipped, flat tone to it. He has a very strong East Danish dialect that becomes even more prominent (if that was possible) when he’s upset or angry about something. But the most notable thing about his voice is the rasp of age, the sound of someone much older despite his youth. It can be assumed that this is due to him being a troll.

Motive
Klaus just rolled into town, conveniently right before the murders began. Nobody knows much about him, because nobody had much time to get to know him. Klaus doesn’t seem to hold any particular hatred for humans, but he’s not fond of them, either. More importantly, trolls are known for kidnapping and/or eating humans, and though Klaus claims to be well-adjusted to a more human way of living, these smaller trolls are also known for being tricky. And he clearly had a clan once. What could have happened to them? There’s a good enough chance that it had to do with humans. Could it be that he’s been travelling around, taking out humans on the way, either out of revenge or a trollish hunger for human flesh?

Affiliations
Klaus once had a clan, that much is known. A very small one that lived in a graveyard, and later took over a farm. He either left them, they kicked him out, or the rest of them are gone.

Name
Malachy d’Entremont
Name Pronunciation
Malachy: mal-uh-kee
d’Entremont: dawn-TREH-mont
Nickname
When Malachy doesn't feel comfortable enough to share his name, he usually tells people to call him Key. His friends also call him Mala sometimes.
Gender
Male
Age
19
Supernatural Type
Dog Shifter
Malachy is like any other shifter, the only difference being that he can only shift into a dog. Although, he does have a great deal more "animal" in him than most shifters do. He was born from two shifter parents, but both were deeply connected to the natural world, so Mala naturally developed strong animalistic instincts. Now that he's older he's torn on which "side" he wants to take, so for now he usually stays in his half shifted form, which means he has dog ears and a tail but the rest of him is human.
.
Malachy can shift at will, although he can't keep switching between forms. The only time he shifts unwillingly is if he gets a traumatic injury. At that point he shifts into his dog form, which gives him accelerated healing for whatever reason. Because of this, Malachy usually refers to his dog form as his "natural form". Nothing has been proven though, so he isn't quite sure why he shifts into a dog whenever he gets hurt badly.
Appearance
Malachy is 5'10, just a little taller than the average man. He only recently - a little more than a year ago - started spending his time in his human or half shifted form. Therefore, although his dog form is very much the embodiment of strength, his human body is quite pathetic in comparison. He will admit that his body isn't completely useless, as he's still able to move around with his natural flare, but he isn't as strong as he would like to be. He's been focusing on building his strength, so his body isn't as skinny as it used to be, but instead of the lean muscle he wants, Malachy has more of a lithe build. It's the same with his skin. You would think he would have sun-tanned skin, but he actually has a lighter skin color, thanks to his recent changes.
.
In terms of his facial features, you could describe his appearance as the human version of a golden retriever. He has golden blonde hair which curls at the ends. His hair is thick and quite coarse, giving him a charming yet slightly untamed look. His eyes are chocolate brown color. As for the shape, it's definitely on the rounder side of things, often appearing bigger than they actually are. When Mala is extremely happy, he tends to get this goofy ear-to-ear grin on his face, which only strengths his golden retriever vibes. Malachy honestly doesn't mind getting compared to the dog, it's only when people make the mistake of thinking he's a puppy does he get frustrated.

Backstory
As a kid, Malachy used to be a fluffy ball of joyous love. He was always happy, and loved loving people. He was the type of kid who wasn't afraid to hug random strangers. Of course during the first part of his childhood, he lived with his parents in the forest, so he didn't get to meet many strangers. Besides, he was almost always in his dog form, so he couldn't exactly hug anyone anyways. Life was amazing during the first decade of Malachy's life, and to this day, he still looks back and smiles as he remembers how peaceful things used to be. Especially when he turned eight and his family joined a nearby shifter pack.
.
But unfortunately, as he grew up, he started to experience the world for what it really was. It broke his spirits, and caused him to be wary of everyone and everything. He went through countless hard times, and watched as his friends went through trials of their own. Nowadays Malachy is who he is because seeing the real world shattered his heart and trust. Still, even now, he never fails to love and care for his close friends, the weak, and the children of this world.
