A tiny, strained can be heard. You glance around and catch sight of a much younger cat, barely more than a kitten, crouched behind a rock. He puffs himself up, trying to look fierce, but it’s more squeaky threat than real danger.

1. Sit near the lounging tomcat and see if he’ll let you share his sunbeam.

2. Slowly crouch near the rock and try to win over the hissing little guy
