Before Andi Arc

Pulling his hair (2B) - The closer to the back of his head, the more likely it is to trigger him. Also more likely to trigger him if it’s during, before, or after any sort of sexual interaction. More likely to trigger dissociation (and maybe flashbacks) rather than anything else.

Running water (2B) - If he’s already dissociating, then it’s more likely to trigger him. Otherwise, it’s pretty hit or miss.

Showers/Baths (3A) - Slightly different from the last one, him taking a shower or a bath will always cause him to dissociate. Maybe not heavily, but it will happen no matter what.

Being called ‘baby’ or ‘good boy’ (3B) - Always a trigger, but just how severe it tends to be depends. It is especially severe if it happens during, before, or after any sort of sexual interaction. Dissociation is for sure no matter what, but it can also cause flashbacks and panic attacks.

Someone/something touching his inner thigh (2B) - Depending on certain factors, it can become a worse trigger. The type of touch it is and how long it lingers are two such factors. It’d be more severe if it happens during, before, or after any sort of sexual interaction but there’s still no guarantee if it’s going to trigger him or not. It’s a big hit or miss. Depending on severity, could just cause dissociation or could cause flashbacks and panic attacks too.

Someone/something touching his wrist (2B) - Depending on certain factors, it can become a worse trigger. The type of touch it is and how long it lingers are two such factors. It’d be more severe if it happens during, before, or after any sort of sexual or violent interaction but there’s still no guarantee if it’s going to trigger him or not. It’s a big hit or miss. Depending on severity, could just cause dissociation or could cause flashbacks and panic attacks too.

Restraints (2B) - Depending on certain factors, it can become a worse trigger. The type of restraint and the context behind it are two such factors. It’d be more severe if it happens during, before, or after any sort of sexual interaction but there’s still no guarantee if it’s going to trigger him or not. It’s a big hit or miss. Depending on severity, could just cause dissociation or could cause flashbacks and panic attacks too.

Pressure on rib cage (1B) - Normally won’t be a trigger unless he's already dissociating. Then it might cause more dissociation, mild panic attacks, or flashbacks. Definitely not the hardest to deal with though.

Gunshots (2B) - Definitely a huge hit or miss. Sometimes it won’t cause anything and sometimes it’ll be terrible. There’s no real way to figure out which it’ll be either. Him already dissociating might tell you it’s more likely to trigger him but it’s not for certain by any means. It can cause dissociation, flashbacks, and/or panic attacks though.

Confined spaces (3B) - Small and confined places always trigger him, though just how badly depends on a few factors. Like just how small it is or how dark it is or if there’s anything that makes it even more uncomfortable. It can cause dissociation, flashbacks, and/or panic attacks.

Someone touching his shoulder (2B) - Depending on certain factors, it can become a worse trigger. The type of touch it is and how long it lingers are two such factors. It’d be more severe if it happens during, before, or after any sort of sexual or violent interaction but there’s still no guarantee if it’s going to trigger him or not. It’s a big hit or miss. Depending on severity, could just cause dissociation or could cause flashbacks and panic attacks too.

Being groped (3C) - Let’s just… Not. He will dissociate, heavily, and if it isn’t stopped right then, he will have flashbacks and he will have panic attacks.

Being blindfolded (3C) - This is another one to just avoid. It’ll be even worse if it’s during, before, or after any sort of sexual or violent interaction. He will dissociate, heavily, and if it isn’t stopped right then, he will have flashbacks and he will have panic attacks.

Being gagged (2C) - Depending on certain factors, the more likely it is to trigger him. The type of gag it is and how long he’s been gagged are two such factors. It’d also be more likely to trigger him if it happens during, before, or after any sort of sexual or violent interaction. If it does trigger him though, then he will dissociate, heavily, and if it isn’t stopped right then, he will have flashbacks and he will have panic attacks.

Cleaning supplies (1A) - It’s very rare for this to be a trigger, even in the conditions that make it more likely to trigger him. Which is basically just seeing them near/under the sink in any kitchen. And sometimes, very rarely, bathrooms too. At most, it doesn’t do much other than some mild dissociation.

Knocking things over (1C) - So, this one’s odd. It’s rare for it to trigger him but when it does, he’s immediately gone. Severe dissociation, flashbacks, panic attacks, the whole thing. It doesn’t often trigger him though, only during very specific situations. Like if it happens during, before, or after any sort of sexual interaction. Or if he’s trying not to make noise or be seen.

Someone/something touching his neck (2C) - Depending on certain factors, the more likely it is to trigger him. The type of touch it is and how long it lingers are two such factors. It’d also be more likely to trigger him if it happens during, before, or after any sort of sexual or violent interaction. If it does trigger him though, then he will dissociate, heavily, and if it isn’t stopped right then, he will have flashbacks and he will have panic attacks.

Being dragged (3C) - This is another one to just avoid. It’ll be even worse if it’s during, before, or after any sort of sexual or violent interaction. He will dissociate, heavily, and if it isn’t stopped right then, he will have flashbacks and he will have panic attacks.

Being called/compared to a rat (2B) - Another huge hit or miss. And just how severe it is depends on different factors. It is especially severe if it happens during, before, or after any sort of sexual interaction. Dissociation is for sure no matter what as long as it manages to trigger him, but it can also cause flashbacks and panic attacks.

The AP carving (3C) - Oops, I didn’t tell you about this, did I? Yeah, uhm… Andi decides it’d be a good idea to carve his initials into Garvin’s hip. Don’t mention it, don’t touch it, don’t do anything that has to do with it. He will heavily dissociate, and if it isn’t stopped right there, then he will have flashbacks, and he will have panic attacks. Just don’t.

Someone/something touching the left side of his face (2C) - While it’s a huge hit or miss on whether or not it’ll trigger him, if it does, then it’s bad. He’ll dissociate, he’ll have panic attacks, and he’ll probably have flashbacks too.

Being called his name (Starts out at 3C, eventually ends up at 1A) - At first, it’s definitely usually a trigger, but it gets better and eventually it becomes something that is rarely a trigger. Starts out with heavy dissociation, panic attacks, and flashbacks being caused to eventually just mild dissociation if anything.

Being called/compared to dirt (2B) - Another huge hit or miss. And just how severe it is depends on different factors. It is especially severe if it happens during, before, or after any sort of sexual interaction. A - It’s an easy trigger to work him down from.

B - The middle ground between easy to recover from and definitely not.

C - He’s totally freaking out. Either immediate flashbacks, severe dissociation, terrible panic attacks, or some other thing.

Also, after I finish my AFCS post and probably my BB sheets, I want to write out Letif and H's story, however, I'm stuck on how I should do it.

There are 2 options right now

1) A series of short stories (I'm not sure how many yet, but probably around 4) with mixed perspectives (Like, 2 for Letif and 2 for H). Except you'd get the last story from Letif's perspective quite a while later because of major trauma spoilers and whatnot

Or

2) One big short story all from H's perspective as they're telling Koler everything, so it'd be more like a story within a story. This would probably take less time, but it'd be much less detailed and somewhat biased because H is giving their memories about everything which are... slightly... er... messed up? One because it was all very traumatizing and H was protecting themself and, two, because it was ages ago. Like, this would be after Koler found H hiding in the mountains after leaving Viar and the events that H would be discussing took place when Letif was 11-13 (mostly 13, but the two met before) and H was 14-17 (mostly 17), so-

Overview of Trauma

The Orphanage (until 5) - Dude was only here until he was five but damn the place was terrible. And definitely ableist. Anyways, they had a lot of different ways to try and ‘fix’ the children in their care (because obviously only well behaved children get families). Ranging from starving them, to beating them, to locking them into tiny & dark places, to sexually abusing them, to allowing other people to come & abuse them, to verbally & emotionally abusing them, and yeah. Just. Really bad place. It was actually shut down like, seven years after he got kicked out of it (so when he was ~12). Huge thing. Most of the staff got arrested. Some people not in the staff but that had frequently stopped by got arrested. The youngest they admitted to having sexually abused was three. I have way too much lore.

5 to 7 years old - So, uhm… The first couple years that were spent on the street. A lot happened. Including more sexual trauma. And a brief encounter with a trafficking ring too, actually. Which was at the end of this period. Oh, yeah. Garvin got sick a lot too and almost starved to death quite a few times. Ended up having a seizure caused by malnutrition once. Wasn’t very fun. Also some physical and verbal abuse too. And does the whole thing count as emotional abuse? It might.

First Major Person (7 to 9 years old) - Fun little thing, uhm… This guy actually bought Garvin from the aforementioned trafficking ring. At first it was verbal, emotional, and physical abuse. And dehumanization too, actually. And ableism. Ended up becoming sexual abuse as well. Lots of threats to throw him out. Among… Other things.

9 to 11 years old - Yeah, so, he was thrown out. Not fun. Uhm. Pretty similar to the 5 to 7 years old period. More almost starving to death, more of getting way too sick, more sexual trauma, and just way more trauma in general. Also some physical and verbal abuse too. And does the whole thing count as emotional abuse? It might. He ate a rat during this time period too.

Modern Day Pirates! (11 to 12 years old) - Yo, hey, it’s the pirates! Yay! So… Yeah. The pirates were the best. And other than some threats at the very beginning, they did nothing to him. Other than, like, uh, start his smoking and drinking habits. Oops. Dysfunctional family for the win? He almost drowned to death though, so they kicked him out. It was kind of complicated. They regret it. Not like he knows that. They did let him have the 12 string banjo that Navis had been teaching him to play though, so there’s that.

12 to 14 years old - So, he’s on the streets again. This time with some new bad habits, a 12 string banjo, and quite a few new random skills. Like sewing. So he gives himself the patch. Anyways. Back to the trauma. Yeah. A lot more happens. Almost starving to death, more sexual trauma, more of getting way too sick. You know, the regular stuff he had to deal with. The gambling he learned from Spade doesn’t help. But he also ends up in a lot more fights where he actually fights back. And actually killed someone in self defense using their own swiss knife. Which is the same one he has himself now. Yep. Oh, and some of the strings on the 12 string banjo ended up breaking while he was 13, so he had to pawn it off. He ate a bird during this time period too. And some more rats.

Sketchy Gang/Mafia (14/15 to 16 years old) - So, a month before he’s 15, Fintan catches him stealing from the sketchy gang/mafia and after some interrogation to make sure he isn’t with a rival gang, brings him into the sketchy gang/mafia. For various reasons. The one Fintan actually gives is that the tall child seems to be really good at stealing, so he’d be a huge help to have around. Anyways, a lot happens. Sexual trauma, physical abuse, verbal abuse, emotional abuse— Gaslighting, grooming, developing even more bad habits. Lots of street fights. Yari dies because he tries to tell Viik what Fintan is doing. It’s bad. Bad enough that when Garvin does finally leave, he leaves with the sole idea of taking his own life. Which he tries to do but Devery finds him and it ends up failing.

Actually Good Buds (16 years old) - So he ends up meeting Rinny, right? Promises to help the kid out. Things start out alright. Though Garvin does get stuck in the sketchy gang/mafia again for a while, so, you know, Fintan immediately takes advantage of that. So, uh. Some more sexual trauma, some more physical abuse, some more verbal abuse, some more emotional abuse, some more gaslighting— You know. The whole thing. But for the most part, not nearly as bad as it was before. Mostly because he’s also busy, you know, helping Rinny and Mouse and Ford. He almost drowns to death again. Ford and him have a weird love/hate thing going on, full of arguments and Garvin continuously trauma dumping in order to make his point. Anyways, with all his spiraling depression and all, Ford decides it must be the patch on his trench coat that’s keeping him from truly healing, so Ford goes about stealing it and trying to burn it. Which, seriously? Dude. No. Stop. So Ford gets punched in the face and Garvin leaves.

17 to 19 years old - Which means he’s now on the streets again. Only this time he’s got even more skills. Which mostly involves stealing from people sleeping with him. Which he does. So… A lot more sexual trauma. Somewhat because of him retraumatizing himself and somewhat because of the regular sexual trauma that would’ve happened anyways. His gambling doesn’t help. Some more of him almost starving to death and him getting way too sick. More fights too and another accidental death in self defense. He also has that thing with Melzar too while he’s 18 for a few months. He ate some more birds and rats during this time frame too.

Repetitive Nickname Gang (19 years old) - He ends up meeting Giles, Jusepe, and Kody. At first, they all seem alright. And Lucia ends up joining the group too. So, for a while, it’s just some sexual trauma due to him retraumatizing himself. It ends up becoming sexual trauma, physical abuse, verbal abuse, and emotional abuse. Especially by the time it’s just him and Giles. So, he leaves and beats Giles at his own game, as you know.

20 to 22 years old - Back by himself on the streets, haha… I mean. We know how it goes. Right? More almost starving to death, more getting sick, more sexual trauma, more street fights— Oh, and he had a thing with Felix for a little while when he was 21 that was honestly terrible for the both of them. Lots of verbal and emotional abuse between the two of them. Another incident of killing in self defense happened within this time frame too. And, you guessed it, he ate some more rats and birds during this time frame too.

Andi (22 to almost 24 years old) - Ohhh boy… I mean. I’ve already gone over a lot of what went down here. So much sexual trauma, so much physical abuse, so much verbal abuse, so much emotional abuse. Lots of almost drowning to death. Lots of injuries getting infected. Just… Yeah. A lot happened. He eventually escaped though. So. Uh. There’s that.

24 to 25 years old - Last one before he finally shows up in AFCS. Some more of him almost starving to death, some more getting way too sick, some more sexual trauma that’s mostly him retraumatizing himself, and some more street fights. You know. The average. He hasn’t had to eat more rats yet though. Some more birds, on the other hand? Just a few.

Ya know, it's weird because the majority of my characters have at least some sexual trauma. Not all, just most. And I'm realizing that some of them actually have more than I thought-

Like, Nico, Letif, and H are still in the lead for sure, but Sol and Atlas aren't actually that far behind. And, like I said, most of them have some, just not that much compared to these guys

But I'm mildly concerned that I didn't realize how much I was absolutely torturing Sol and Atlas in this field before-
