Appearance:

Luminis is on the larger side for her species, standing at 17.11 feet tall and weighing 1756lbs. But do not be mistaken, she is by no means fat. Rather, the majority of her weight comes from her muscles. Her body is also a bit stocky, with her longest limb being her fanned tail. The fans start out small on the sides while another comes from the top of her tail, gently growing out but only by an inch or two. All three will carry to the tip of the tail where they expand a bit more, making a sort of club-like fan. It ends shortly after passing the tip of the tail. The fan along the top of her tail – unlike the side ones – starts at the back of her head and extends all the way down her back.

Luminis head is medium in length and rather narrow; however, it is quite large. Unlike the normal muzzle snout or beak, her head forms a sort of teeth-like structure at the end of her maw made from incredibly strong keratin. They are very strong and act as secondary teeth - used for gripping prey. The neck it’s attached to is quite thick and rather short, not allowing her much reach. Her shoulders are broad and her legs (front and back) – as mentioned – are stocky. Her midsection is not very long, but not short either. Her wings are large and powerful, being able to carry her weight and more. Her wings are often compared to those of a bat. Her horns are rather interesting. They start like any normal ram horn, curving up and then down; however, where they would be turning back in, they continue straight forward – pointing forwards. They end an inch or so after the end of her muzzle. More fans can be found along the she-dragon’s cheeks.

The dragon’s scales are a beautiful, almost iridescent purple-black shade that covers nearly her entire body. Even her underbelly scales are this shade. The teeth-like structures are one of the few spots that is not this color – fading into a more silver-white color. Her horns do a similar fade. Her wings and fans are a large source of interest. They start out as more of a night-black and fade into a deep midnight blue. Among the dark colors, small and bright dots of a few colors (namely a light blue and white) are scattered about – like stars in the night sky. Along her wings, a pattern of the milky way can be seen as shades of indigos and light tan-yellowish colors. Among the “stars” of both the wings and fans, larger dull dots can be seen. These dots are what give this dragon her name. The dragon can cause these to glow a bioluminescent blue at will. The dots are also scattered along her underbelly and neck. Veins of this bioluminescence weave their way through her horns, fading from the blue into a more gold color the lighter in color her horns get. Her eyes are also a dazzling gold shade with sprinkles of indigo within the precious metal.

Luminis is incredibly aggressive towards all creatures. She is known to attack for no reason at random intervals. Generally, this is due to the need to take out her anger on something. Or it could just be because she hates that specific species. Either way, it is best not to get in her way or on her nerves. However, that is probably impossible because you likely already are.

The she-shadow is known to be quite the loner. She enjoys the peace and quiet that comes from being alone and will be very upset if it were ever disturbed. Being alone also cuts back on any social interactions that she may be forced into – another plus for her.

The shadow dragon is incredibly light on her feet for something so large. It often sounds like she’s walking on air – not a peep coming from her footsteps. Her scales also make her incredibly hard to see, especially in darkness. Generally, her stealth is just used for her to sneak away from others to spend some time along. Her stealth is also used for hunting. With her lack of speed, it would be nearly impossible for her to catch prey if it were not for her stealth. Thus, she takes her skill very seriously – practicing it often.

Luminis has an odd way of twisting the minds of those around her. She will often play one’s emotions, asking them questions that lead to the bigger picture and make them question themselves. She will also bend their words, making them seem like the “bad guy” in the situation. If she makes any sort of mistakes, she will always blame whoever she’s traveling with – even going as far as convincing them that it really was them that screwed up. Her arguments always make logical sense and can be difficult to understand at times. In the end, she is likely to get her way.

For those she trusts, the large black dragon can be quite the softy… in a way. She does her best to keep them out of danger, but insults them when they get into any. The shadowy dragon will be much more sarcastic around them, especially towards any remarks she perceives as “dumb.” Though, her remarks are never harmful – in her eyes, anyway. If they react poorly towards her words, she will make attempts to make it up to them. She may bring them small gifts before proceeding to claim that she got it so they would not pester her anymore. Or she will “hug” them for a few seconds before telling them not to say a word and that it would be “a one time thing.”

Type - Shadow (Info Below):

It is said these are the second fastest breed to glass, though this is far from the truth. They merely give their victims this effect by blinding them temporarily and running around to disorient their prey. They are, however, second bulkiest only to the titania breed, which slows them down some and makes their speed less daunting. Many seek out this breed when they want a "scary" dragon breed, as many are fearful of shadows. Dark coloration, a dark mist that lingers around them, and a deep growl they use to communicate any desire doesn't help this terrifying image. In addition, these dragons often work to scare those around them so they aren't challenged. Though few have lived after studying this breed up close, it has been found that they have the power to completely shroud any area in shadow, making it impossible for somebody to focus their eyes on that area. They can also use this to blind enemies by surrounding the victims with this shadow. Main drawbacks of this breed is its aggression and constant need for food, making it dangerous and costly to keep. They have been hunted to near extinction due to fear. They stand at about 16-18 feet and weigh in at around 1500-1800.

- Luminis, despite her size, is incredibly stealthy – being able to sneak up on some of the most aware beings.

- The black shadow dragon can be quite strong at times (specifically when not hungry), taking out enemies much larger than herself.

- Luminis’ intelligence comes quite in handy when trying to avoid poachers – often making traps for them to fall for.

Weaknesses(3+):

- As given for her species, Lumisis has a weakness to light. It obscures her abilities and denies her camouflage. It also causes her to have a hard time focusing with her eyes being so accustomed to the darkness.

- Luminis is almost always hungry. Being a shadow dragon with a high metabolism is rough. She cannot go without food for two days without starving.

- Her bioluminescence can give herself away when she is trying to be stealthy. Thankfully, it only flares up against her will when emotions are high.

- The lack of speed this dragon possess causes much trouble when hunting. She can barely keep up with most prey and is easily outran by all species of dragon who may be after the same target.

Luminis is known to be an incredibly violent and aggressive dragon, especially towards most humans. She can and will kill any human on sight that is not her rider. Best to steer clear of her.

Background:

Luminis was taken from her mother – a wild shadow dragon – at a very young age. However, not young enough to forget. She still remembers the soul-shattering roars her mother released as the poachers tore her down. This attack caused her to be very spiteful towards humans, trying to harm them any chance she got. She was kept in a cage for many years afterwards with the poachers waiting for the “right time” to do as they wished with her.

She was eventually sold in an illegal auction to an old rich man a few years later. She was kept as a display item which the man would ask for money to see. This lasted until she was 19 years. At that time, the old man had passed and she had been given the opportunity to escape.

The purple-black dragon roamed the wilds for many years until she was captured and sold once more. This soon became a sort of routine for her. Get captured, wait a while, escape, and get captured again. It wasn’t until she met her rider that she was finally “free” of that torture.

Onyx is an incredibly unique looking dragon - standing at 14 feet and weighing 1289lbs. His length, however, is one of the many reasons that this dragon stands out. He is measured at around 30 feet long with his tail making up the large majority of his body. In fact, the dragon is basically nothing but tail. The bottom half of his body is serpentine, with no back legs in sight. Rather than walking like a normal dragon, Onyx slithers along the ground like, well, a snake. His long tail ends in a sharp spear-like tip that can be used to jab at any enemies that approach from behind. The serpent-like dragon can also use his tail to wrap around and constrict prey.

The front half of his body is relatively normal, with two powerful front legs and two large wings which protrude from his shoulders. His front legs, however, are not generally used for walking. Rather, they are used almost solely for digging tunnels for him to reside in and travel through. Instead, it's his wings - which have three opposable, finger-like appendages at the wing’s thumb - that are used to drag him forward along the ground and through the tunnels he lives in. He does so by sinking the claws on her wings into the dirt (whether it is below or beside him). However, his front legs will occasionally aid the wings in their movements - namely when he is attempting to speed up.

A long neck protrudes from Onyx’s shoulders which makes up most of his height. It ends with a narrowish snout, similar to that of a komodo dragon or nile monitor. Towards the back of his skull, two ram horns curve down below his lower jaw before curving back into themselves. However, his horns do not overlap themselves. His eyes are a silver hue that can be akin to the color of mercury. His tongue is long, silver, and forked. His teeth are sharp and medium sized with larger serpent-like fangs in the front. They are used more so for gripping prey rather than tearing, and point backwards to help hold prey in place.

Onyx’s scales are a golden-brown that remains the same until it reaches his tail. When reaching his tail, his scales fade into an onyx black that is lined with white “veins.” The veins fade to nothing the closer to brown his scales get. His horns share a similar pattern to his tail; however, the white markings do not fade away on the horns. His underbelly is more of a tannish brown in color and is quite smooth - and even soft - in texture. The wing membranes start as a smokey, nightfall black and slowly fade to the black onyx color. Veins can also be found on the wing membranes, however, some veins that are colored gold mixed in with the white veins, and are much thinner.

Onyx is a kind and gentle beast - rather uncharacteristic of his appearance. He’s not a big fan of violence and will do what he can to avoid it. However, this does not mean he is entirely against it. If pushed too far, the dragon will respond with such. Otherwise, he will treat everyone (who treats him well) with such kindness and would never harm them. He especially likes spending time with young children, often babysitting and playing with them when he gets the chance. Though, not many mothers are fond of this as they believe he will harm them.

After many years of being used for labor, Onyx enjoys the slow, quiet, and peaceful moments in life. When off duty, Onyx will do nothing but sleep and eat - not getting up unless he is forced to. If he could, he would sleep his life away. This attribute can cause him to be a bit sluggish in his work at times, especially if it’s a job he hates to do.

An added bonus that comes from being lazy: no one will know when you are and are not asleep. Onyx enjoys taking advantage of this idea, often pranking the nearest person when they do not notice his wakefulness. Generally, it’s a simple swipe of a tail that knocks their feet from under them. Other times, it could be him picking them up and taking them for a joyride. For as lazy as he is, he can be rather energetic. However, these pranks are saved for those he cares for.

Speaking of loved ones, the gemstone-desert dragon is incredibly protective of them. After all, they’re the only ones that do not see him as some kind of beast or tool. Thus, he will give his life to protect them. If his ally gets hurt, he will enter “mother hen” mode - providing anything they need to them as quickly as possible. Generally, he will wrap them in his coils so they do not try to move about after being harmed. It is also meant to keep them warm.

Type - Desert:

The most dull breed in the book, when it comes to intelligence, they say. These aren't necessarily the crafty ones. However, they are known for being easy to train, as they are docile and willing to try for a handler, and they are the strongest. These are almost like the draft horses of the dragon world. Though not the bulkiest in appearance, they are the strongest. They are used for heavy loads or larger riders, and have a slight advantage as their strength doesn't show. Their power is to dig out earth faster than you can blink. They could have a whole city carved out before you've even made the blueprint, these are fast and efficient diggers. Their rough scales are earthy or sandy tones most often. They stand at about 13-15 feet and weigh in at 1000-1300.

Strengths(3+):

- Onyx is incredibly agile, being able to turn a full 180 in mere seconds. He is also very strong with most of his muscles being well hidden due to his build.

- This desert dragon is considered to be one of, if not the best, diggers around. Dragons of his variant being known to live almost entirely in the tunnels - which are constantly expanded - thus, it only makes sense that he is an expert digger.

- Thanks to the design of Onyx’s horns and skulls, he can be used as a powerful battering ram. In the wind, this skill would be used to allow him to burst out of the ground - breaking it apart - to grab some prey. For humans, it’s a useful tool to cause large tunnels to collapse for land to be excavated.

Weaknesses(3+):

- While in no way dumb, Onyx is not the sharpest tool in the shed. He can easily be outsmarted by intelligent dragons.

- Ironically, one of the serpentine dragon’s weaknesses is large bodies of sand. Afterall, sand is impossible to build tunnels out of as it would immediately collapse. The dragon also finds the sediment rather hard to travel over.

- Onyx is an incredibly poor flier with his wings being almost entirely designed to aid him in movements. His long, heavy body also does not aid him in this endeavor, causing much difficulty when it comes through cutting through the air.

Likes(3+):

- Onyx likes to eat dirt. No joke. He generally eats it when digging things for the humans. The dirt is actually quite beneficial for him, in more ways than one.

- The gemstone-tailed dragon loves to sleep under the sun on a hot summer day.

- The serpent-like dragon enjoys spending most of his free time in his personal tunnels where no one can reach him.

Dislikes(3+):

- Onyx hates working for the humans. They make him feel as if he’s nothing more than a tool meant to be used.

- The serpentine dragon despises being touched by humans, especially those who touch him without his consent.

- The desert dragon hates poachers. These humans have always been interested in him for his scales and he knows they would kill him for them at the first chance they get.

Fear:

Onyx fears that he will be forced to work to death. He has seen many dragons fall at the hands of working humans and fears that he may meet the same fate. All he has ever wanted was a good owner that does not force him to do the labor that they expect his kind to do. The question is, will he ever receive this wish?

Onyx is known to be a rather hard worker, despite his lazy tendencies. However, he is never happy while doing so, often obeying the commands of his human “overlords” in fear of being harmed.

Background:

Onyx was found running from poachers who were after his scales as a “teenager.” He was captured by some “worker humans” and used to labor for the majority of his years. At first, he did not take it very seriously. It wasn’t until he saw the humans kill a fellow desert dragon by overworking them that he realized how dangerous the situation was. He was bought and sold many times afterwards and still resides in a work camp today.

- Onyx has the ability to breathe out large amounts of sediment that he uses to suffocate his prey. (If he is not allowed to have breath, please let me know. I will change this).

Standing at 4'8", Rin is fair skinned with a few freckles scattered here and there and carries a welcoming feel about her. She has a few curves, possessing a toned body to an extent although she is not athletically built. If you're going to be a rider one must be fit in order to keep up, but despite this Rin couldn't shake her naturally curvy physique. Her short form makes one question why she is a rider and if she could handle a dragon. When looking at her, one would say that she's a bit over the average weight for her height, resulting in a generally short and round appearance. Her chest size included. She doesn't mind, however, as her mother shared the same physique. The only traits she had received from her father had been his eyes and his freckled complexion.

Her round face is often framed by her shoulder length hair, though she prefers to wear it in braided hairstyles to keep it out of her face when flying or fighting. Her hair is dark brown with a few lighter strands here and there. She has a softly shaped jaw, a button nose that's dotted in freckles and plump lips. Her eyes are a soft green, paired with long eyelashes. Her appearance is quite average, not having much that would cause her to stand out but enough for one to say she looks "cute". She is of Scottish origin. She has a nasty burn scar on her left hip, causing a limp.

Rin is a people person, always wanting to be around others and to spend time with them. She cares about their wellbeing and has a strong need to make them feel valued and appreciated. She tends to ask too many questions and is very much aware that she might be perceived as annoying to some. This trait is due to past trauma of having to constantly prove her worth when she was younger. Her father believed that the world was black and white, that there was no room for questions or curiosity. She has two older brothers and no mother to speak of, so she was raised to be strong and competitive. But one should take note, being competitive is not her strong suit and she has no desire to fight over trivial things or matters. She'd rather give in or give up, causing others to think of her as either a coward or just plain lazy. She loves taking naps, or simply lounging around wherever she finds a comfy spot.

However, she does also spend a lot of time by herself or with her dragon. This could result in people thinking that she's a loner. But the times she spends alone is used to read, to write or to bond with her dragon. It's the way she recharges at the end of the day.

She was forced to grow up, causing her to not have much of a childhood. So now as an adult, those suppressed urges of exploring and discovering the world around her had resulted in childish behaviour and tendencies. She's curious about the world, a hunger for knowledge about the kingdoms and dragons. She's very energetic and enthusiastic, perhaps a little too much sometimes. She also loves to share her knowledge, not in a condescending manner, but to share the wonders that she had learned and others could enjoy. As such, she loves telling stories or writing them down for later.
