Bones. They're currency for gear, decor, backgrounds, and even a dye. It's one of the very few ways to get them. Cheaper the wolves the better

Some people have quests to retire wolves. Some retire wolves to get bone fragments.

Some people do it just to help clear the market of wolves that may not be as good as other wolves in terms of stats, rarity, etc.
