Jason set the tray down on the bedside table, grinning, "Well, Ribs did the cooking. I hope you like it, Addi." Once the tray was safe, Jason leaned over and met Addi with a kiss. It was soft and quiet, but perfect, "And I'd never forget your birthday. This is the first one we've celebrated together, and I hope we do the same for ages to come. I love you."

Addilyn turned a deep pink on her cheeks, a mixture of surprise and happiness on her face. Her eyes were bright green as he kissed her and as soon as he stopped she missed him. She couldn't put her thoughts into words, it was just a big jumble of gratitude and happiness and love. Overwhelming love, the type that made her heart beat fast when Jason was near even though they'd been together for months. She just loved him. "I love you too Jason, so so so much. Thank you for staying with me. Even though I'm a difficult asshole, thank you." Addilyn was smiling brilliantly and was looking down at the food then to Jason. "And Im sure the food is gonna be amazing."

"You are perfect in my eyes," Jason promised, sitting on the other side of Addi, so she could access the food, "I'll stay with you for as long as you'll have me, and that's a fact. I'm not going anywhere without you." Jason's words were big, but he meant every bit of it.

Addilyn looked up at Jason lovingly, trying to convey all her emotions through her eyes. She just couldn't put it into words how much she loved him. How happy she was to have someone who promised to stay forever, because Addilyn would need Jason for forever and a day. He kept her going no matter what the situation was. While he was gone, she'd been dead. Just an empty shell. Now that he was here to stay, not only would Addilyn never let him go, but she would also love him forever and ever and ever. She tried to convey all these thoughts through her eyes and let her walls slip just a little. Not enough to drown Jason, but enough for him to understand.

Jason leaned over and captured Addilyn's lips in his, "I love you," he murmured into her mouth, "For forever and a day," He added, using Addilyn's words. Rarely did Addilyn drop her mental shields. It really showed how much she trusted him; and that thought made Jason so happy. He loved the girl in front of him with ever fiber of his being.

Okey.
It had been 4 days since they left the witch town. Everyone's packs were filled to the brim with food for the journey to the town where everyone would meet up. Amika seemed rather excited to see Zane again. She had missed her friend dearly and his little smiles made the groups morale a lot lower. Even Al was smiling at the idea of seeing the little brat again. At night while most everyone was asleep, the restless Addilyn would stay awake and enchant her bow. The weapon would be her primary one when she fought Jolon in the arena. It wasn't an if anymore. It was undoubtedly going to happen. Little Destan wasn't used to this much sun or walking. As he had barely done anything in Mexico under Jolon's watchful eyes. Often times he would need help and Brax would carry the 6 year old on his shoulders with ease. Destan was beginning to get used to the others and found Ribs quite funny if not a little intimidating. Reaching the town Kaitlyn and the others were staying at felt amazing. To everyone but Addilyn. Who felt as if this would be the last place she would be able to catch her breath in awhile.

Jason was aware that Addilyn was working all through the night, and stayed up with her, most times sitting beside her and offering a comforting presence. One night, Jason handed Addilyn a dagger, with a small carving on it, but otherwise plain, "Keep this with you," Jason had asked, face set and serious, "Even if it isn't useful, know that I am with you, and that I have your back through everything. Nothing will sway my mind." Jason refused to say anything more about it. Ribs helped out where he could, and told as many jokes and stories as Destan wanted. He also stuck close with Amika, making her smile when he could, and comforting when he couldn't. Michael was being Michael - cold and aloof. He did know the area well, though, when Addilyn didn't, and led them to gas stations where they could get food, and fresh water areas.

Addilyn called Kaitlyn through one of the pay phones and told her to meet them with the van at the spot Addilyn had sent her originally. The young woman agreed and soon, the gang was back together. They met close to the Rio Grande, which was where the magical bridge existed and would bring Addilyn's friends to freedom. As soon as they approached the van, Zane jumped out. Running straight for Amika and Brax, the two enveloping their little friend in a hug. Next was Addilyn's turn and a shake of the hand with Al. Kaitlyn hopped out of the van next, a smirk on her face, though worry was evident. She ignored everyone else and went straight up to Addilyn. "Are you sure this is even a good idea? I know they'll be fine with me but you...you're in danger Addilyn." The green eyes witch smirked, "I know. But what's life without freedom?" And her words rang true in Kaitlyn's ears. The older woman nodded and disappeared back to the van. Most likely to take care of Aloe.
