The demon-shifter laughed softly, his eyes glimmering. "Damn, you are so stiff, you never look comfortable." Kanu kept up his easygoing smile, he knew he was poking the bear but he didn't really care. His father was a much more dangerous specimen than Sloane and Kanu happily annoyed the asshole. |

The vein in Sloane's neck ticked, "Maybe because I don't have a reason to trust anyone here." She turned on her heel, and called over her shoulder as she walked away, "And I doubt you trust anyone either." With that, Sloane slipped out the hall. |

Kanu stared at Sloane's retreating form, his purple eyes latched onto her. How odd, he hadn't brought trust up at all yet she had. He assumed that was why she was so stiff. He supposed she was right about him as well, he trusted no one. All he wanted was to relax and get drunk as hell. Was that to much to ask for? |

Sloane made her way to the rented inn suite, and slumped down in the chair. It had been a long day, and at that point, she was ready to sleep. That couldn't happen yet, though. First, a Sloane must write a letter. |

Kanu headed back to his room, he was staying in the palace unfortunately. He didn't mind it too much though, he was busy trying to get his Fire's Child, the only drink he could actually get drunk from. It was an exclusive shifter-only thing and it seemed that it was impossible to find on Earth. Which really, really sucked, as Kanu could really use a drink. |

Sloane did not trust many people. She had become the heir through brutal and merciless killing, and that didn't give others much faith in her as an ally within the palace. The current King and Queen were out of the question - they were still sore about her killing their children - as were their council and advisors. Luckily, though, being the heir meant she had to create a group of advisors of her own, which Sloane decided over the course of many years. The closest one was her childhood friend, Jydal. He was also close with the King and Queen, and could help sway their opinion. Perhaps he could convince them that marriage was not a good idea, and that a different ruler of Earth would be good. |

Kanu never asked his parents whether he should do something or not, he just did it. Granted, this got him in trouble a lot with his father but his mother always backed him up. Considering the fact that technically his mother was stronger than his father, it was nice to have the shifter on his side. So instead of telling anyone, Kanu left the palace, his strong wings carrying him through the sky. Technically, he wasn't supposed to leave without an adviser but Kanu didn't really care. He just wanted to be free, or at least feel free for a bit. |

After Sloane finished finalizing the letter, she folded it up, and after a second's hesitation, patted the desk. Bulla, her little bubble dragon, flew over, her eyes trusting and calm, "Bulla... I have a very important mission for you. Take this letter to Jydal, okay?" Bulla blinked, and burped out a tiny bubble, her way of saying yes. Sloane used some yarn to tie the folded letter onto Bulla's back, and sent her off with a pat and a few words, "Remember - do not let anyone but Jydal see this, and stay hidden around everyone else. If it gets too scary try to head back," Despite what some people thought, the heavens were quite bloodthirsty and brutal at times, "Be careful, Bulla." The little dragon seemed to nod, then flew out the window after Sloane opened it. The woman watched her little dragon until she could no longer be seen. |
