Michael shrugged, "You can plan all you want, but that doesn't mean it'll work." He learned that the hard way. His plans after college, his plans to keep Alex out of this life. Gone.

"Yes, but at least you have a plan. That's the first step." The ghost of a smile reached the girl's face as she tried to think of the last time one of her own plans had worked. At the hotel perhaps? Or maybe even before then, who knew?

"But let's hope this one works," Michael murmured, "We should sleep. I'm going to start talking to people tomorrow, getting supplies, two cars, and all that. Plan to leave in around two days."

Addilyn nodded before stopping with dark green eyes. "Thank you for helping us. I still can't understand why, I don't ever think I'll be able to, but thank you anyways." She gave him a cautious, confused look, followed by the tiniest of grateful smiles.

Alex always woke with the sun, though she knew it not. She just knew everyone else always slept later. She traced her fingers along the walls to the kitchen, then rifled through the freezer for something to make. Her loose pajama shirt and shorts weren't very flattering, and her cornflower colored hair hung around her face.
