Tristan hurried into the room, standing as far away from the demons as he could manage. He hadn't disliked them before, but their obvious distate for his kind had hardly endeared them to him.

He sat in a chair, ignoring all, and ignored by all. Well, mostly. His mother gave him a sour look, and he sighed, but started to pay attention.

Khaos said, "You know why we're hear-" But before he finished, Eco lunged forward and stopped right in front of her best friends father, glaring daggers at the Head Demon. She heard a strangled gasp from her Mother and brother, but ignored them.

"Why do we have to do this?!" She hissed at Khaos. "You know that this whole thing is going to go down in flames. Demons and angels don't mix, and we never will. This whole 'marriage and kids' thing won't change that."

Khaos gazed at her with his Indigo eyes, the ones his son had enharited. "You don't have a choice in this matter, Echo Katz. It's already been dicided."

Ajaz scoffed. "Yeah, and we ave to take that hit." Khaos' gaze hardened as he turned to his son. "Ajax, stay quiet." He said lowly.

Ajax shook his head and stepped forward to stand by Echo.

"It's not our fault that the fighting has continued. Your generation continued the fighting. Yours, not ours. And yet we have to fix all of your problems."

The atmosphere was extremely tense, and before anything else cuold happened, the Head Angel stopped it.

Maritza sighed.

"We know it won't fix everything. We're hoping it will at least help though. If I wasn't already married, I'd have given myself the task. It now rests on your shoulders."

She ran a hand through her blonde tresses, looking tired and frazzled.

"Plus, you won't be alone. You'll each have one of your kind with you. And you'll be living in a beautiful complex all together."

Echo growled and turned away, walking to the corner and leaning against the wall, her hood and hair falling over her face and hiding it in the shadows.

Ajax looked at the Heads, and then back at his friend. He walked over to her and said, "At least we'll still be together."

Tristan had stopped paying attention when the demon girl started yelling. He didn't want to already dislike her, so he let himself sink into his mind, focusing on the flickering of the torch above his head.

He was pretty sure Adina had done the same, and felt less bad.

Echo ignored everyone, letting her parents do the talking.

Ajax ended up going over to talk with them, leaving Echo alone. She felt helpless. She couldn't do anything to get her or her best friend out of the situation they were in now.

She was snapped out of her daze when Ajax shook her shoulders. "C'mon, Ek." He said. "We're going to the complex now."

Tristan and Adina had already started making their way to the complex. Like the Embassy, it was a mix of the two cultures. The angels gravitated towards the lighter sides, relaxing somewhat in the familiar settings.

Like every Angel's home, it had light furniture, high, sloping windows, and gauzy curtains that blew gently in an invisible breeze.

Following the angels, Echo sulked in her hood. The adults walked a little ways behind them, still talking, and Ajax was walking beside her.

They settled in the darker side, Echo blocking everyone else out, including her best friend. She just didn't want to see anyone, and just wanted to be alone for the rest of her life.

Tristan scowled at the adults. The whole point was that this experiment wasn't supposed to be tampered with by the grown ups.

He turned, and went up the stairs of the Complex, not wanting to interact with the people who'd forced him in to this mess.

Echo quickly claimed one of the rooms, ignoring everyone else and waiting till no one was looking before jumping out the window and spreading her wings. She quickly flew up to the roof and settled down on it, laying back and staring at the darkening sky,

She sighed, knowing that the Heads and the parents wouldn't allow anything between the two angels or, more importantly, the two demons.
