"I didnt even go out into the fields." Mayhem huffed.

River glared at her " alright then. come on.. time to eat and then back to business"

He sat beside Aries and ate what he could, he had a feeling that something was going on. But couldnt place what it was

Mayhem had the feeling something wasnt right too. She grabbed the rabbit she killed off the ground and trotted back to the snowbank, settling down to eat it.

(What if the time came for choosing mates? I dont know how it will turn out, but its worth a try)

River knew that breeding season was approaching. But how would he let Mayhem know he had chosen her to be his mate. How would she respond?

River was in his den, asleep when he heared pawsteps.

Mayhem just thought that maybe a blizzard or something was coming, and she didnt think anything else.

Ash was at the entrance of the ALpha den " Sir.. its choosing time. "

River snarled at the reminder, but thanked him all the same " I'll be there shortly. have everyone by the Rock."

Ash bowed his head and got everyone together by the Alpha rock. He looked at Mayhem You will be his.. I know it. since Aster is too old to bare children He thought.

After a while, the Alpha padded through the group and sat on his rock, looking at the pack members. Then at Mayhem.

Mayhem was sitting out to one side of the group. She was clueless of what was happening, and just looked towards River, like a respectful member should.

River took a deep breath in and let it out before speaking " I have thought long and hard about what I am about to say. I know it has been a full season since this last happened. WHen I was together with Aster. But now that she is too old to bare any children, I have chosen a new mate-. " I cant go on any more.

Aster looked down at her paws. But knew he was right, she was old. But there was someone else who was young and would be a better fit for her Alpha.

" I have chosen Mayhem to be my next mate." River finally said looking at her.

Mayhem was speechless. She didnt know what to say, but her eyes seemed to light up and her tail thumped on the icy ground behind her. The dog was suprised.

Everyone glared at their Alpha " But sir... shes a dog not a wolf in her. " One of the members said

" Be quiet. My decition is final. If you have a problem with that, talk to someone else about it, but not me. Clear out now" he ordered as he jumped down from the rock and looked at Mayhem before heading to his den.
