|Zenda|F|2|Herbalist's Apprentice|M: Shia, Sadie, Flame, Sylvie|

Zenda looked away from the Queens, tired of waiting for a response. She had patience but even that was thin these days. Her ears flicked back as she walked away, her bushy tail straight down pressed against her back legs. She was slightly disappointed in them, but feeling that way rubbed her wrong. She wanted to be as positive as possible. Giving a forced tail wag as she approched Shia and her pup. Zenda gazed at the loving look in the mothers eyes as she looked at Sadie. Envy weighed heavy in her heart as she nodded, giving a happy pant smiled as she walked back, eyes flicking to the pebbles in front of her as she walked.

Her busy mind always seemed to have something to think about. In this moment however, she was thinking about what herbs needed to be gathered, and where to find them. This led to her going through the list of herbs she knew. After that, she should clean out nests and replace the moss. Zenda wanted to be on top of everything, nothing to be left undone. It would bug her, and she might as well do it all at once.

Zenda walked into the Medic den, eyes lighting up upon seeing her Mentor. Her tail lifted as it began to wag slightly. "Good morning Flame!" She said cheerfully. "How're you this fine morning?" She asked, her eyes on the elder, looking her up and down. Hmm. Her bones didn't seem to ache as much these days, and she couldn't hear them creaking as much either. "Are you feeling better?" She asked, a soft and motherly gaze on the elder.

Feeling bad that she was interrupting her Mentor and the Elder, realizing just how rude she'd been. She gave them both a apologetic nod and begun to eye the herb wall. She let out a sigh when she saw that the Basil was getting low. She really had a dislike for collecting Basil. It was far away from camp, and she didn't like going alone. Sitting down neatly with her tail wrapped around her paws, Zenda waited for Sylvie to tell her what she wanted collected.

Kaido | M | 5 | Hunter | Mentions: Brute, Aspen

Kadio halted his approach as a howl cut through the air, alert him to the presence of moose near the southern boarder... as well as alerting his prey to potential danger. Growling softly, he shook his head, the Sentinals spoiling yet another hunt. It was as if they never considered that prey had ears and their noisy calls were ruining the hunt. Although his enhanced speed allowed him to keep pace with anything that might cross his path, there was no fun in rushing after every meal, like a bull blindly charging into battle. Besides, prey ran sporatically and in random directions, often increasing the distance needed to carry it back so the watchdogs could eat their fill.

The damage already done, he started towards the nearest deer, but something else beat him to it. Taking on the old buck, the stranger dragged it to the ground with ease, making the kill soon after. As the newcomer stopped to catch his breath, Kaido recognized him as Aspen, a senior Hunter. Amused, he let out a low chuckle. No wonder he hadn't noticed the older male sooner. When it came to stealth, Aspen was unparalleled as far as Hunters went. Intentional or not, he was hard to pick out unless he wanted you to know he was there, an ability that greatly complimented his role.

By now, the herd had already scattered, using the trees and surrounding forest for cover. While not far enough to be unreachable for Kaido, there was no point in collecting more food just to let it spoil. Assuming the other patrol did their job, one deer was more than enough for this patrol. Stepping out of cover, he approached Aspen as the senior Hunter began dragging the buck back to the pack. "Hey," he called out, "you want me to take that back or are you going to do it?" Kaido wasn't exactly the type to do the dirty work of transporting food. As far as he was concerned, they should leave that to the rookies, the ones too useless in a hunt to do anything besides startle the prey and injure themselves. But...

Kaido glanced around the meadow, failing to spot Brute anywhere nearby. He scoffed. "Some patrol leader you were," he muttered. Well, he didn't sign up to pup-sit anyways. The young Hunter, if you could even call him that, would have to manage on his own. He called out to Aspen again, a Hunter actually worth something. "You've seen Brute around? He's supposed to be leading this patrol, but he wandered off. Dunno why Raven decided putting him in charge was a good idea."

Sinaria "Aria" | Female | 15 months | Apprentice | M: Silver, Pack(ind)
.
Aria's tail swished slightly when her mentor turned towards her, motioning for her to follow as she said yes to training. She trotted happily after her mentor into the forest, bearly able to contain her energy. "What are we going to work on today? Rabbits? Squirrles? Voles?" Aria mused thoughtfully, looking forward to the hunt but also wanting to improve and learn.
.
Aria valued being able to help the pack, even if her mentor was...well on the odd side sometimes. She eyed the older female for a moment, she was alright even if they didn't always agree with each other. Shaking her head slightly when her ears picked up on the smell of large prey nearby, she'd only smelled it once before. Moose, and close by too. Before she could notify her mentor a howl sounded above the trees, though it sounded like the sentinal was a good distance off. Thankfully she didn't hear the moose react much to the sound, afterall she'd hear them if they rushed off.
.
Aria barked softly to alert her mentor, "I can smell the moose nearby, would it be best to find another hunter to go after one?" Her voice was soft and kept just above a whisper, she had always understood the value of a lower volume when out hunting. Keeping her voice low anytime she went out for a hunt, not wanting to startle any nearby prey. Specially one as valuable as a moose, that would help the pack alot with such a large kill. She glanced at her mentor hesitantly, waiting patiently for her order. Hoping the female didn't want just the two of them to go.

Aspen | Male | 8y | Hunter | M: Kaido, Pack(ind)
.
Aspen paused, lifting his gaze towards the voice that sounded. Now placing who had approached, he released his grip on the buck. "Kaido" he flicked an ear in brief greeting, glancing at the deer he nodded. "Another set of paws would make this easier" he commented in agreement, accepting the help this time. Normally he would just handle it himself, easily taking the burden for others. Besides he was strong enough to manage alone, it would just take a little longer.
.
He tilted his head with a frown hearing the younger male ask about one of the younger hunters. His gaze narrowing briefly when the male questioned the desicion of the beta male. Aspen shook his head, "afraid not, I woke after they had all left on patrol". His golden gaze focused on Kaido, "if the beta male trusted him to lead a patrol I'm sure he had good reason to do so. Or are you questioning the beta male's orders?" His voice was level despite the accusing question, his expression unreadable while he seemed just simply curious.
.
Aspen shifted, making space for the younger male. His tail flicking as a motion to the other hunter to help him, standing around talking was only going to delay them. He would rather they shorten things up and continue back at camp, once the food had been delivered. Afterall he saw it as their job to provide for the pack, specially those who couldn't hunt for themselves. They did currently have a few mothers within the camp that needed to eat.

Kaido | M | 5 | Hunter | Mentions: Aspen

He flicked his ear. "Hey, don't go puttin' words in my mouth," he said, his voice casual and relaxed. A tad amused, perhaps. Kaido closed the distance between him and the deer as he spoke. "I can respect an order I don't necessarily agree with. Raven wants him to lead, fine. But I'm not going to pretend to enjoy being bossed around by a pup either." While he didn't agree with the Beta Male on this occasion, Raven had more than proven himself a worthy leader a year ago when they were given their unusual powers. Alongside the Alphas, he had guided the pack in adjusting to their new abilities, harnessing their usefulness. Raven's track record spoke for itself. But it wasn't like he was incapable of making an odd poor decision.

He saw the Senior Hunter's tail flick out of the corner of his eye. The older male seemed impatient today. Maybe a bit anxious. If he had to guess, Kaido would say he wanted to get his catch back to camp as soon as possible and let the rest of the pack have some fresh food to pick from. Specifically, his sister, Aria. In fact, he was particularly protective of the young apprentice. Kaido didn't get it. Blood relations aside, he found the seriousness the Senior Hunter had towards his role as a provider strange. Besides, she was eager enough to learn and train, unlike some others. She'd be capable on her own. But then again, that wasn't exactly his problem.

Though the pack wouldn't starve within the next hour, there was no point in hanging around. Alright, old man, he thought, let's get to work. Kaido picked up the deer alongside Aspen, his enhanced strength making light work of the large buck. He fell into step behind the Senior Hunter as they headed back to camp.

Raven | M | 7 | Beta Male | M: Shika, the pack(ind)
Raven slowed down slightly and tilted his head up when he heard the call. Moose. Mm. He didn't want Brute to run into those. He might have put the young male in charge of a hunting patrol, but he was hoping that he was learning from the older ones he paired him with in the group and not being an overgrown pup pretending to be alpha. Hmm. . .maybe that wasn't the right call. It was all a test in Raven's mind but even so, one that the hunter should pass.

Key word: should. Hopefully Aspen tagged along or Kaido was staying stern with him. The last thing he needed was his hunters getting injured. Raven didn't howl back though, he could smell prey nearby. The other hunters probably didn't need any more distractions while hunting either. He started to pick up speed before coming to controlled halt. He had almost missed the grey coat of Shika completely, if it hadn't been for the red streaks in her fur. Turning back, Raven trotted over to her, noting the rabbits she had caught. "Hunting going well this morning? I sent a sentinel out with each patrol so you probably won't get done any training this morning." Raven said, coming to a stop beside the lead Sentinel.

He frowned slightly though as his eyes narrowed in on the female. She seemed more tired than normal. Raven flicked an ear before saying quietly, "I can take over the training today if you need me to. You look like you could use some rest. Everything alright?" His eyes stayed neutral, however, there was a slight note of concern in them.

Shika | F | 6 | Lead Sentinel | M: Raven

Shika paused in her tracks scenting Raven their beta tracking towards her, her lips dropped down back upon the rabbits scruff. Hmmpph... least it was just him, she wasnt entirly in the mood for a fight. Which given her day to day mood would seem odd if she had said it out loud. As Raven trotted past her she chuckled around the scruffs watching him turn on his haunches and loop back to her.

Shika set the rabbits down at her paws, her audits swiveling to catch his words. Though not before a smart ass retort left her maw.

"Shall I start wearing bells within my pelt?"

Shika mused before replying to his initial statement and question.

"It is indeed, figure the queens would welcome a meal they dont have to tear chunks off in order to settle in their dens. Rabbits are easy enough to carry here and there."

Shika hummed thoughtfully, she was glad Raven sent out her sentinels for some hunting lord knew that they needed the practice. Audits swiveling she nodded curtly.

"Good good, they need the practice. Helps them work muscles they arent working normally."

Shika watched him zone in on her overall well being and grumbled softly. He read her like a damn book and she hated it, Shika wasnt an easy wolf to read and yet the beta made quick work of her state.

"No sense in lying to you. Been strangely tired the past few days, though not sick... just tired like my body doesnt wish to move. Ill speak to our medics about it today see what they think."

Shika stated calmly her voice level unless she was teaching in which case it carried more of a bite to it. She wasnt a wolf to test or cross thus keeping her sentinels in line was easy enough.

"I dont wish to miss out on training, though the assistance might be welcomed. I wish to teach a new skill today that may run smoother with 2 instructors. Besides that, it would be amusing to spar with the big tough beta"

Shika stated an amused twinkle in her gaze as she rolled her shoulders. Her gaze ever watchful as she quickly scanned the borders.

"Ive also marked the border, so you dont have to travel back that way. I imagine youve already covered plenty of ground today."

Shika said her banner swaying behind her as she stood beside the beta.

Aspen | Male | 8y | Hunter | M: Kaido, Pack(ind)
.
He chuckled to himself briefly at the younger males comment, his ear flicking as Kaido moved to grip the deer. Now with the added help of the other hunter, they made quick progress back to camp. Aspen could admit that the Kaido could probably contend with him in terms of strength, yet the male was still a bit too headstrong to make full use of that.
.
He grunted softly once they'd moved the buck far enough to the camp, releasing his grip and giving the hunter a nod. "You have the strength to content with some of the best of us, but that doesn't mean you should let it go to your head. Nor does it mean that every order should be followed without question" Aspen sighed roughly as he glanced at the trees. Something felt different about today, and it had him on edge.
.
"I do agree, Brute could use more expirence and needs to control his energy more. But he is still a skilled hunter, besides his lack of skill is where us older hunters are to make the difference" he shifted with a flick of his tail, looking back at Kaido. Aspen had been around the woods a few times and knew how things went, the elders where to teach the younger ones. Even if the two groups didn't always see eye to eye. Shaking his head the large male turned his attention away, scanning camp he noted the lack of his sister's coat. Looking to the entrance he frowned, she was likely with her mentor. Not that he disliked the female, he didn't exactly trust his sister's safety with her.

Raven | M | 7 | Beta Male | M: Shika
Raven chuckled at her words before listening to her next batch. Good, the queens could use that. Granted, Shia might not like it as much as the other queens. Speaking of Shia, he would have to check for any tricks. She was bound to get into some kind of trouble, which annoyed him to no end. And she didn't follow authority to an extent either. Her pup was no different and her mate seemed to edge her on at times. He refocused on Shika, listening to her before noting her next words.

Raven flicked an ear at her words. He had been on edge more lately but hadn't figured out why. He wasn't hopping around like a bunny though so that was good enough. Raven gave his lead a grin at her tease, playing along, "Ah yes, big tough beta is ready for a spar." He snapped his jaws once playfully before nodding at her words. "Good, Night and Alpha Sparrow has gone hunting and I'm sure Night will check the northern border." He said before flicking his tail. "Come, let's head back to camp. I'm sure the trainees are waiting for us to arrive." Raven said, his tail swaying slightly behind him.

His ears perked though, the forest had gone quiet. He no longer heard the birds in the trees and even the breeze was gone. Strange. This deja-vu feeling seemed quite familiar....

|Pistol|M|4|Lead Hunter|M: Jiro, his patrol|

Pistol nodded at Jiro's remark. He was right, the larger prey would be much better than the smaller prey that would be caught up in a competition. He felt foolish, and suddenly his mood came back. He flicked his ear back, wishing that he'd been granted the extra hearing that his packmates had been, feeling left behind in the hunts due to it. He sighed, wanting to push way the envy that swarmed his mind. He gave a short nod at those that had joined, "Yes, the more the better." His eyes seemed dull, and lifeless, almost as if there was nothing to fuel the fire behind them. Prey that way... He trusted him, knowing that his hearing was powerful.

Pistol squared up, and picked up a jog behind Jiro, glancing over his shoulder to make sure that the rest were following. It annoyed him slightly that Jiro had taken lead, and he was trying so hard to not be bitter about it. There was a deep scowl on his face as he followed, trying to be slow with his enhanced speed. It was a challange as he just wanted to be in front, but fought himself to be respectful. Now he could hear the deer, but wasn't sure what they were doing, eating, running? He just couldn't tell.

He gave Jiro a nod towards the left of the herd, wanting him to stay left, he wasn't going to stop at this point, the adrenaline rushing through his body. Looking behind at the stragglers, scanning them. Hmm. Dare he speak? He figured that they would do what they thought was best for the hunt. He departed right, leaving them all to figure out their own strategy using their senses, after all, they knew themselves better than he did. He knew that he could take down a stag by himself with ease thanks to the extra strength and speed.

He sat waiting in a bush to see another packmate. There were plently of deer, if they worked this correctly they could get at least three or four down, and let the rest off. Once Pistol was sure that his patrol, or at least Jiro, was in place he let out a small bark, and lunged out of the bush. He glanced at his packmates for a moment before putting on more speed. He'd startled them towards the left, and jumped on a buck's rump. Shit, this is bad. Pistol thought, wondering where and when would be the best to escape the buck as he fought back. He should have planned this out more.

He let go of it, running to the side of the panicked deer, and launched himself at it for round two. This time he grabbed it by the neck, a howl catching his attention. He growled to himself, who howls in the middle of a hunt? They were going to get a lecture from him later. Once he comformed that the buck had no life left in it's veins, he watched to see if his patrol needed help, and how they did, pushing off the creeping sense that something was off.

Sparrow | F | 5 | Alpha | M: Raven, Night

Sparrow's eyes were light as she nodded at the Hunter. She stood up, her tail wagging when her Beta approched. "Hello Raven." She said, watching him depart. I guess this is my time to leave. She gave Night one last nod, "See you around!" Her voice was cheerful as she turned away, trotting towards the sound of the river. Hmm. This didn't feel like the right place to hunt. It smelt like other had been here already. A howl cut through the air, she wasn't much of a hunter before she got her new enhancements, but she knew better than to howl while there were hunting patrols deployed. She let out a sigh, the Betas and Lead's could deal with them later. Her or Grenith would oversee it, but not step in unless necessary.

She decided that it would be better to go deeper into the forest, knowing that were would often be a straggler deer, or larger prey roaming around. Picking up a lope, it wasn't too long until she found herself surrounded by the smells of prey. She stopped to sniff the ground, finding many different trails to follow. A noise made her lift her head. Was that a tail of a deer? She began to follow it, suddenly unsure if she wanted a deer. It would be harder to drag it to camp by herself. Sparrowed decided to settle for a rabbit or two, listening and quickly finding one chewing on the sparse grass next to a pine. The rabbits were much quicker than her, so she had to be smart about how she approched it. Sparrow came behind it, and pounced, she nearly missed when it darted, but her ability to twist in the air allowed her to land on it, it's neck in her jaws. That was easy! She thought to herself, wanting to find another one to pounce on. Out of nowhere, a sudden wave of anxiety washed over her. She got alert and dropped the rabbit. Sparrow looked around, wanting one wolf, Grenith. She let out a small whine, trying to see if she could scent him anywhere close. She couldn't, leaving her in a blinding panic, sitting down on the soft moss, feeling completely hopeless, and unsure why.
