Christopher Frost
Lycan | Alpha | Male | Mentions: Colette, Paige, The Travelers

Tense muscles didn't relax as time past, nor did his posture soften as the Travelers continued to speak. There was clearly no real leader among them based on how several individuals had stepped forward to make their voices heard. Even bandits had more sense of ranks than that. He snorted softly, mentally deciding quickly who he didn't like or trust in the slightest and who he might be willing to take a chance on.

His eyes flicked to Paige as his second spoke and he nodded absently as he listened, his features giving away nothing. "It would be too much of a risk to take them on for more than a day, but I'm unsure that a day will be enough to help them. I will not put this pack at risk," he murmured, the last part just as much to himself as Paige.

Just then his features shifted as he felt the presence of his mate, the pack's Luna, fall over him like a soft curtain of summer rain. His features softened, though his stance only stiffened further. If any of the travelers so much as raised a hand to her he would slaughter them all where they stood without so much as a second thought. Her welcoming and fierce nature was on full display as she stepped forward and started giving out commands and questions, and he wasn't about to step in the way of a pregnant woman on a mission. Alpha or not, he had no death wish today.

He turned his head to Paige more this time and spoke softer than before, "I will still be sending someone out to make sure the story is true, I'll rest easier having confirmation. And I'll send the Gamma out to get information on these Bandits, see if they're still in the area. I don't want to send too many it draws attentions, and Brock is more than capable of handling himself," he spoke of the only remaining high rank, the Gamma Brock, just so Paige would no his plan. "Then, the four of us," he motioned to Paige, Colette, Caite, and himself, "can discuss the extent of our aid in a bit."

Once he had briefly given his second his full plan, he turned and stepped up to Colette and gently placed a hand on her lower back. He softly planted a kiss to the side of her head, before nuzzling his nose into her hair for a second. He listened silently as the woman his wife had addressed spoke, nodding along faintly before he lifted a hand to signal the gates be opened.

"Come in. Place your weapons on that table," he motioned to an Merchant's table near by, "you will have them returned to you once you go to leave, for now they will be locked away safely." It was not a request, the hard look in the man's grey gaze ready to prove that anyone who didn't comply would be turned away and be forced to leave. "Please, stay by this fire for now, warm yourselves. My leads and I must discuss this situation. Once we've come to a more detailed conclusion we will communicate that to you, and properly aid you further. For now, though, just get warm. Stay here," he spoke directly and bluntly, no emotion in his words, before he focused down on Colette and tilted her chin up with his finger.

"Good Morning, My Beautiful Wife," he purred softly and then pecked her softly on the lips. "Lets go inside, I wish to discuss this situation more amongst the Council," he told her, gently grabbing her hand and tugging her gently along with him back the direction she had come.

Christopher lead the way to the Map Room they used as the meeting room for the Council, moving to light the few candles in the lanterns on the walls. He rubbed a hand on his nape, letting out a deep sigh as he finally relaxed some, tension leaving his muscles.

"This is not how I had planned on spending my morning," he spoke to the room, the fingers of his free hand pinching the bridge of his nose. "I know we have much to do today, so I'll just try to cram everything into this one meeting so we can just get on with everything," there was a slight tiredness to his voice, but it didn't seem to be slowing him down.

"Realistically," he started glancing at Paige, Colette, and Caitherine, "do you think they'll be fit enough to leave tomorrow? Do we have the extra supplies to help them? And can we risk them staying, even in the area, for more than tonight?"

Elias Sauzac
Lycan | Male | Pack Member | Mentions: Aella, Zira, The Pack, The Travelers

Nearly golden eyes watched the interaction between his Leads and the travelers quietly. If it bothered him to be stuck on this side with the humans, it didn't really show in the man. Was he tense and serious? Yes. But Elias was always tense and serious. Especially since he had been turned. He didn't mind being a Lycan, but he had minded losing his entire family in the process.

Beside him the two equines had vastly different opinions on just standing there, but that was to be expected from two vastly different creatures, even of the same species. The gelding was relaxed, lazily standing there looking like he was about to fall asleep. Truly about the only thing that could rouse him if it wasn't making him walk was a treat. The mare though? She was a bit more flighty by nature, and kept shifting her weight and side stepping, feigning from one side to the other periodically. Her ears were erect and twitching on her head as she seemingly observed the situation alongside Elias. Now and again he would reach up and stroke her muzzle, a comforting gesture though to others it might just look like him petting her.

Movement in front of him pulled his attention from the tense situation, his gaze falling upon a young woman of almost frail appearance. She stuttered out the barest of questions, seemingly asking if she could interact with the mare beside him and he shrugged a singular shoulder up in response. "It is not my decision to make, it is hers," he motioned to the horse, fully believing the mare would be the one to decide who she interacted with, not him. He did, though, pat the mare gently on the neck to signal he was fine with it, though his own attention was pulled to another figure as she approached. This one he was familiar with.

"Aella," he greeted her in return, slightly inclining his head in greeting. Tawny gaze glanced at the travelers before back to his pack mate and he nodded gently. "It appears so. According to what I've heard, they were attacked by Bandits sometime yesterday, and are in need of aid," he recounted for her so she was caught up. "They were already at the gates when Maze and I returned from hunting," he added on, though he figured the group hadn't been there long.

Just then Christopher gaze the motion for the gates to open, clearly intending to let the travelers in, at least for now. He wasn't sure entirely what the plan was, but he trusted the leads to do right by the pack. "I'm guessing you're going to be quite busy for a bit this morning," he commented to Aella, referring to her being one of the pack's healers. "I also need you to come by and look at one of my colt's legs. I'm usually good about knowing if I need to be concerned about a wound or not, but this one is tricky," he started, quickly explaining so she'd have some background. "He got caught in some bushes along the fenceline of the pasture I had him in, and it looks like he got punctured by a thorn. But it's swollen, so I can't tell if there's still thorn in there, or if it's getting infected, or if it's just inflamed right now because it's fresh. Either way, difficult, young colt and an injury to the inside of his hind leg, makes for a very difficult situation to handle on ones own." A brief glimmer of exasperation glinted in his brightly colored eyes, but it was gone in a flash. "That is if you have time today, of course," he added on, always the polite one.

Aella Soren

| Female | Healer | Lycan | Mentions: (directly) Elias, Travelers

Aella stood there, listening to Elias fill her in on the strangers, with her gaze locked onto the gate where Christopher stood. She watched him signal for the gate, extending the invitation to the group of travelers. Her usually calm and serene demeanor had shifted, replaced by tension that radiated from her like a palpable aura. The group only had a bit of time here before the full moon.As she watched the travelers enter the compound, Aella felt a lump in her throat, a silent prayer for safety forming in her mind. The knowledge of their impending transformation with the full moon made her heart race with trepidation. She couldn't help but wonder about the potential dangers that these outsiders posed. Or what her pack might do. What if the system the pack had so carefully perfected failed? The mere thought of it made her feel nauseous, and she couldn't shake the sinking feeling that had settled in her stomach. Her thoughts grew darker by the second, her face slowly paling under the weight of her anxiety.

Her eyes moved back to the magnificent creatures, watching the uneasy mare and sleepy gelding. Aella related more to the anxious mare, feeling her own sense of anxiety claw its way up her throat. Clearing her throat softly, Aella nodded in agreement as Elias spoke up. "Good thing I made fresh mixtures this morning," she said with a weary smile, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. She glanced down at her satchel, mentally reviewing the herbs and supplies she had brought. Most of it was intended for the pack's use after the full moon, but she knew she would have to make another trip back to her home to gather more. She knew that she needed to be ready for any medical emergencies that might arise. From her vantage point, she could see the travelers were bruised and bloodied, their injuries evident even from a distance. Aella had an infection mixture prepped and a selection of herbs for pain relief.

Her smile faded, however, when Elias mentioned the injured colt. Since the pack had demonstrated faster healing capabilities, Aella had taken it upon herself to extend her healing skills to the animals as well. "Of course, I'm sorry to hear that one's injured," she expressed with sincerity. In truth, she would have preferred to tend to the injured colt immediately rather than engage with the newcomers. Aella continued to listen attentively as Elias outlined the situation with the colt. Her mind raced, cataloging all the necessary supplies and remedies she might require. "I will be over right after I treat them," she affirmed, referring to the strangers.

"I need to see to their injuries, I will see you soon," Aella promised, her voice soft yet resolute. Aella made a note to check in on the colt before sun down. She gave a slight nod to the stranger in front of her. Then with a gentle smile and another loving pat to the horses, she turned and hurried off after the group. Her footsteps, akin to those of a forest spirit, were measured and graceful, barely disturbing the leaves strewn across the path. She trailed slightly behind them, her keen eyes scanning the travelers one by one. Each traveler bore their own unique wounds, physical and perhaps emotional, earned during their journey.

As she caught up with the travelers, Aella took a moment to check her emotions, knowing that she needed to wear a mask for the journey ahead. She carefully curated an expression, shaking off the anxiety and worry that had clung to her moments before. Her face transformed into a serene visage, her eyes reflecting gently in the morning sun. She extended a welcoming smile, and her presence exuded warmth and compassion. After witnessing Christopher extend his invitation to the group, she found it easier to approach them with kindness. "I'm Aella," she introduced herself with a soft, melodic voice that was as soothing as a soft summer breeze. "If any of you need assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm here to help in any way I can," Her words carried genuine warmth, like the embrace of sunlight on a chilly morning. Her tender gaze swept over each traveler, conveying her sincere offer of aid. "Once you get settled, if you'd let me, I can tend to your wounds," she continued, motioning gracefully toward her satchel that hung at her side.

Warwick Pierce

| Male | Assassin/Blacksmith | Traveler | Mentions: Christopher, Colette, Paige, Caite, Travelers

Warwick stood there, his scruff-covered jaw clenched in quiet contemplation as he observed the interactions between the two women who had approached his group. His fingers idly traced over his scruff, a habit he indulged in when deep in thought. Bowing his head slightly in acknowledgment, he watched as one of the women offered to check the site while the other remained firm in her decision not to leave. His attention was drawn to the tall blonde woman who seemed to hold a position of significance within this community. The ease with which she interacted with Christopher, the unspoken understanding between them, hinted at a deeper connection, possibly even a partnership. Warwick's curiosity was piqued, and he discreetly flicked his gaze back and forth between them, attempting to decipher the intricacies of their relationship.

His attention then shifted to Gaia, a light blonde woman in his group who was accompanying Jhesica. Warwick didn't know much about her, but he had noticed her quiet intelligence and, on occasion, her feisty spirit. He stepped aside, allowing the woman to address Gaia directly, a silent acknowledgment of Gaia's capability to handle the situation. He nodded in agreement as Gaia answered but remained silent. He trusted Gaia to handle the situation and provide any necessary explanations, as it seemed Christopher's partner had singled her out for a reason. Warwick continued to observe the unfolding interactions. It was becoming evident to him that Christopher and his group operated with a clear ranking system—a structured order that contrasted with the ego-driven dynamics of his own group. The thought intrigued him, and he couldn't help but wonder about the implications of such organization.

When Christopher raised the gates, a subtle excitement stirred within Warwick, a spark of anticipation that danced beneath his calm exterior. He concealed this newfound interest with a restrained but faint smile. To others, it would appear as relief. His suspicions regarding Christopher and the blonde woman had been subtly confirmed by the tender kiss he placed on her forehead. With measured steps, he entered past the gates, stopping beside the Merchant’s table. Warwick noted the absence of any weapons on his person. He rarely carried weapons when traveling, he preferred getting his hands dirty every one in a while. His focus remained on observing the backs of Christopher and his group as they vanished into the heart of the compound to discuss his own group's arrival.

Warwick approached the fireplace, its warm and flickering embrace providing a momentary respite from the cool forest air. The soft crackling of the logs and the gentle dance of the flames held his attention as he stood in silent contemplation. Faintly, the words of the healer introducing herself as Aella reached his ears, offering her assistance in tending to their wounds. Warwick remained silent, absorbed in his thoughts and observations. His hands, strong and capable, were clasped behind his muscular back, his teal eyes fixed intently on the dancing flames. In their depths, a fire of curiosity blazed as he contemplated the mysteries of this place. But the people within this dark compound captured his interest the most.

Catherine O'Donnaugh
Lycan | Beta | Feale | Mentions: Colette, Paige, Christopher, Azela, Travelers

The female looked over towards the Alpha pair when Colette then Christopher spoke to the travelers. Unease raised the hairs along the woman's neck when the gates began to lift to let the group of ragtags in. As Colette spoke to the blonde haired woman that appeared to be a guard or protector for the first woman that had spoken up. She raised an eyebrow while listening but even with the calmness of the Luna, the air didn't settle for the beta. At least they won't have their weapons. She thought turning and following the pair after noticing Aella was heading to the table by the fire where Christopher had pointed the group towards.

She followed Colette and Christopher into the Map room, watching the male move about to light the few candles there were. We will need to get more of those. She mentally noted as her head nodded in agreement to the Alpha's words. "I don't think this is how any of us were planning to start this morning with." The tired tone caught Caite's attention and she stepped to the side after entering the room to let the others in.

"Realistically, do you they'll be fit enough to leave tomorrow? Do we have the extra supplies to help them? And can we risk them staying, even in the area, for more than tonight?"

As much as the female wanted to believe that the group only needed one night of rest. After looking them over and hearing what happened, she knew that they wouldn't be. "Christopher, deep down you know that the answer is no about them being able to leave tomorrow. That judgment will have to come after Aella tends to the wounds and if any are severe."

Caite's arms wrapped reflexively around herself not particularly happy with her statement, but it needed to be said. Those people would not survive another night, well most of the people in the group wouldn't, without proper supplies and weaponry. "What if we put them in the rooms farthest away from the Lycan Room? That way even if one lets their curiosity win out, they are still far enough away to avoid being close to the door." It wasn't a great option but it was one of the few that they had to offer.

"Or we could make them sleep in the barns...I mean I think they will take anything as long as it is out of the elements." Her eyes roamed over the others in the group, landing on Colette and Paige for a few moments longer than when she finally looked back to Christopher.

As for the supplies, Caite looked over to Paige while running through the list within her own mind. The fresh deer kill that Maisie and Elias had been bringing in was a needed item, but with the added travelers another hunt would need to be scheduled sooner rather than later.

She made a note to head to the stores to go over exactly all that they have for supplies and speak with Camila about what she has listed for their supplies. As Caite was thinking about food, her mind turned to the twins of Colette and Christopher. Her eyes snapped over to Colette before she spoke. "What about the children?"

Colette Frost
Luna || Female || Lycan || Mentions: Christopher, Catherine, Gaia, Paige

Colette observed the woman, a neutral expression remaining upon her features. Her eyes flew across the remaining travellers, taking them in before returning to the individual before her. Truth be told, she had focused her attention upon the woman due to her apparent status. She seemed to be a guard, given the sword remaining by her side and her hand instinctively resting on the pommel. From Colette's own experience, guards knew more than anybody about what specific resources were needed, hence, why she focused solely on her.

When a respectful bow was offered, Colette took a step forward, her voice gentle. "Please, no need for that," she spoke, noting the woman's stiffness in response. Her own brows furrowed as she listened to the tale of what had transpired. For a moment, it brought her back to the night when she and others had been attacked. Perhaps it was that memory that prompted Colette to offer a nod or perhaps the sorry state of the travelers; regardless, she wanted to help.

"I'm certain we can find a solution," she continued, addressing Christopher more than the travelers. "At the very least, we should tend to those wounds." She briefly glanced at Aella, confident that her skills would quickly mend the visitors. Her proficiency with herbs and healing practices was both astounding and impressive to witness.

"Thank you," she suddenly spoke, nodding to the woman for explaining things to her. Head tilting to the side lightly, she listened to the plan Christopher had concocted when addressing Paige before offering a smile when he approached. Leaning into his touch, she placed a hand upon his arm, squeezing gently when he gave the command to open the gates. Staring up at him, Colette's grin only grew before she averted her eyes away and back onto the visitors. She remained latched upon her mate's arm as he spoke, observing momentarily to ensure that his request was followed.

Her complete attention was captured when Christopher turned to her, gently tilting her chin and planting a kiss on her lips. "Well, good morning to you too," she remarked with a grin, leaning in for a second kiss before allowing herself to be guided away without any protest. However, she couldn't help but glance over her shoulder and extend her hand toward Caite, latching on to the woman and dragging her along with them.

Entering the Map Room, she watched as he lit the few candles, noting the reduced amount. A small puff of breath escaped her mouth, dragging it out like a sigh before silencing herself. Listening to her husband speak, Colette already knew the answer before he finished.

"Realistically," she repeated, "they will not be able to leave before then." Agreeing with Caite, she glanced to the three. "You saw as well as I did the severity of their wounds. Not to mention the weather. I can practically feel a storm brewing." Clutching the cape tighter around herself, Colette supressed a shiver. "If we send them off, supplies included, the chances of them surviving are slim. I don't want that on my conscience." The mere thought caused the beginnings of a frown to twist upon her mouth, her head shaking. "But to offer them sanctuary knowing about the events of tomorrow?" Truly, it was a difficult predicament.

"Then again, we're in the beginnings of winter. What supplies we have are meant to last us the remainder of the winter," she continued. "There are.. what.. six? Seven additional individuals? Do we have enough?" Glancing around the group, the matter was beginning to give Colette a headache.

"The Lycan Room locks from within. We would remain undiscovered by sight, that much is certain, it's a matter of if we're heard." Turning to Christopher, Colette motioned outdoors. "We also have the cabins on the grounds. Not to mention, most rooms within the castle lock from the outside.." Trailing off, she was spitballing ideas before pausing, turning her attention onto Caite upon the mention of her children.

"The twins will stay in their rooms during the process, just as they always do," Colette declared, her tone hardening as she gave Christopher a serious look. "But they mustn't know which room they're in. I want them to be safe and secure." Her body tensed, her maternal instincts taking precedence. "I don't even want them on the same floor as our children, if we decide to go that route." She nearly growled her words, clearing her throat and straightening her posture.

"I trust that they won't pose a threat, but I also don't know them. Until then, they are to be kept separate from the twins," Colette insisted firmly.

Geralt Fairweather & Fredricko Tuolani
Human | Knight & Bard | Male | Mentions: Those in the travelers, and the growing group at the gate.

Surprise would be an understatement that the two men felt hearing the person that appeared to be the leader of the other group say to open the gates. Even though Geralt wouldn't outwardly express it, a wave of relief washed over him as he followed the group inside setting down his sword upon the table before moving to stand by the fire as well. Though when the females of the group entered, he stepped aside motioning for them to take his place. He had his cloak but the bruises underneath his clothing and his muscles cried out when the warm embrace of the fire left.

"Thank you." He called out watching part of the group leaving before turning his attention to the woman that appeared to be a healer. "And thank you. I may not speak for everyone but I am grateful." He stood not far from the table but far enough that any of the weapons left on the table were out of his reach. He was smart enough to stay close but not close enough should something happen. If this was their only chance for reprieve for the night, you can bet that Geralt was not going to risk losing it. Especially for those that had the more severe wounds.

Geralt had come out with mainly bruises and a few minor scrapes due to his extensive training and the large sword. Even though he had escaped with the large blade, the thieves deemed it not valuable, he was still beaten upon his torso once the group had surrendered and a few given some extra hits for being more troublesome. The expression on the blonde woman's features that had spoken to the female guard in their group flashed in his mind when it was described what had happened to them.

Thankful as Geralt was, there was still unease from their generous hosts and his eyes roamed about the area they were in looking to see how many lived within the stone walls. Though the ramblings of the oldest male in the group earned a scowl from Geralt.

"Oh this is bigger than it appeared on the outside." Rico stated as he followed the group inside making sure to follow the ladies in instead of leading the way as Warwick and Geralt had done. If anything he was going to be a gentleman for the ladies even if it made him look like he was just posing. If he showed respect or acted not as boisterous as the other males in the group, maybe he could get around the castle grounds without being noticed to see what all is within the walls.

The beauty of the blonde female who appeared to be with the leader of their saviors had captured Rico's attention and he wanted to see how close he could get to knowing her without her husband and the female that appeared to be guarding her. The male moved to take a place by the fire leaving space for the others as he warmed his cold hands, being one of the few that hadn't sustained any injuries from the attack. How, well that was his little secret.

A happy sigh left his lips as the warmth of the fire moved up his arms from his fingers and began to envelop his entire body. After the warmth came weariness from traveling as his body started to relax from being in fight mode. A smile formed on his lips as he looked over to the healer. "I will also state my gratitude for you and the others being such generous hosts, helping us in our hour of need."

Elias Sauzac
Lycan | Male | Pack Member | Mentions: Aella, Travelers, Gaia, Zira, Open

Bright eyes focused ahead, though he nodded now and then when Aella spoke. Elias wasn't the type to speak what didn't need to be said, and considering he'd already fully filled her in on what was going on he didn't feel the need to speak further.

It appeared it had been decided on whether to allow the group entrance or not, and the gates opened to permit them in. Gently patting the two horses necks, alerting them they'd be moving, he trailed after, glancing at Aella as he walked. "No rush, he did it to himself so maybe the consequences of his actions will teach him not to repeat mistakes," he murmured to her, and then lead the horses to a hitching post. The mare he loosely tied, but the gelding stood still as he moved around to the rear of him and pulled the buck off and slung it onto a near by empty table. Maisie would handle the skinning and butchering of the animal, so he left it where she could either pick it up and venture off, or simply handle it there.

His attention briefly glanced at the group of humans gathered around the fire, taking in the state of them further. They really did look rough. Sighing out, he grabbed a couple of chairs and moved them closer to the fire and motioned to them before bringing over two more so there were four chairs total for the group to use. From there he studied them again and then shrugged out of his cloak, unclipping it from his front and walking to the blonde Colette had addressed earlier.

"Here," he offered it to her first so he didn't startle her, before hesitantly wrapping it around her shoulders. It wasn't the nicest looking cloak there was, but it would be warm and offer better protection than what she currently wore until they could get them new clothing. "There are also beaver gloves in the inside pockets if you need, they'll warm your hands and prevent frostbite," he pointed to the rough location the pocket would be on the inside of the coat he'd given her.

Without his cloak covering his figure, Elias' torso was adorned with a simple long sleeve shirt that clung to every divot and curve of his toned muscles. His pants were dark and worn, but clearly thick and padded for comfort in some areas. The boots he wore were older, but still in good condition and protected his feet from the elements.

Walking back to the mare he pulled a blanket out of one of the travel bags she carried and walked to the young woman who had greeted him earlier. He held it out in offer to her, though it wasn't anything special. It was a hand woven blanket, and while it wasn't the thickest it would be additional warmth for the rather frail looking woman.

In the shadows of the forest, Maisie watched quietly as the group of humans and her pack interacted through the gate. It seemed they were pleading for sanctuary, needing to rest and recover after a bandit attack followed by a rough night. Naturally, Maze was rather wary of strangers, especially human strangers, ever since having been turned. She had never been overly social, and certainly wasn't adept in social situations either, so she preferred to avoid them.

After what seemed like several tense moments, the gates finally opened and allowed the travelers inside, followed by Aella and Elias. Finally, once everyone had entered she trailed after them, moving quietly and fluidly through the gates. Compared to the travelers, Maze looked absolutely feral. Her clothes were more primitive in nature, being made mostly of furs and hides, though her cloak included some sort of fabric. Her shoes were furred boots with soft soles so she made little noise when moving, and were strapped to her feet with leather straps. She wore a regular short sleeved shirt, but had heavy cuffs of fur around her forearms to keep them warm. It was her hair, though, that proved how wild the young woman was. It was a bit frazzled, it's curls spilling out all over the place, several tangles evident in them. She hadn't brushed it recently, so it was poofier than normal, and plenty of leaves, twigs, and more were strewn carelessly throughout it. None of this bothered Maisie though, this was who she was before the change, she'd only turned into it more after.

Moving to where the deer rested on the table, she grabbed a bucket and couple of knives and set to work. She didn't feel like lugging it all the way back to her small cabin just to bring the meat back, and then likely go hunting again. It just wasn't worth the energy expended.

Soft steps behind her caused her head to whip around, a soft growl on her lips before it fell away with a smile. The sky blue eyes that gleamed back at her as broad man approached her were ones she knew. "Maisie," he cooed softly and kissed her forehead, before looking suspiciously at the group of foreigners. "What have I missed?"

Returning to what she was doing, though she managed to streak blood across her cheek when she pushed hair out of her face beore she spoke. "Travelers. Attacked. Chris and Colette agreed to give them sanctuary. Though I don't know for how long." She broke it down as simply as possible and jutted her knife towards the manor. "They're having a meeting inside if you want to go," she informed the Gamma, her pale green eyes shifting to the blonde man as he pursed his lips in thought.

"I'll go in a second, Chris would have sent for me if he thought I needed to be there," Brock, the gamma, spoke, leaning back against the table to look at the brunette fondly. They were... complicated. Neither of them would admit there was anything serious going on between them, yet the two were wholly devoted to one another.

"Sorry I couldn't go hunting with you this morning, Maze. I hope Elias was a suitable replacement," he murmured, offering her an apologetic smile.

Maisie waved her hand dismissively at him, completely unbothered by his inability to attend their morning ritual. "He was fine. He didn't get in my way. Besides, I know Chris and you were up late last night," she spoke, reassuring him that her feelings were not hurt by his absence.

"Allright," he sighed out, pushing off the table and smiling at her again. "I should go check on the others, see whats being said, what they need me to do," he stretched his arms above his head as he yawned and walked away.
