I like that idea.

The idea of a well-loved public figure being the victim is perfect. Perhaps the idol had connections to the same mafia group as the suspect and by trying to investigate the murder, the detective decides to target our suspect, which leads to the framing and so on.

Yeah, I feel like the mafia would be behind it all. Though I think the suspect character is not on friendly terms with a mafia either. Maybe a falling out in the past?

The mafia could be behind the murder of the celebrity because they knew too much, and they framed the suspect possibly, but the detective got too close to the truth, so then they framed them both lmao
