Yeah, I suppose. I just hadn't heard of a dog experiencing it, just horses and humans.

I was aware of it in babies and horses, just not dogs.

Yeah, hated and loved that horse. Cried when he died a few years back. Many animals can colic, even humans but it's more common in babies. :/

It's always sad when an animal is in pain. I talked with someone who said she had a friend whose Great Dane colicked. Gonna be honest, I didn't know that was possible.

Price/Critique My Art~June 19, 2019 02:10 PM

Heyo~

So, I think I did a "critique my art" thread way back at the beginning of this year, but it's been a while. And, since I'm considering opening up commissions again, I figured I could use some tips on what I can improve on as well as some guidelines for how I should price my art.

Pricing in particular is very tricky for me, since I tend to go by a "pay what you want" system, but it's hard to tell when I'm either getting lowballed or when someone is paying me more than expected and I end up getting hard on myself and feeling like I'm delivering a product that's worth less than what they paid for. If I do reopen commissions, it probably will still be generally PWYW, but I'll set some guidelines for pricing depending on the complexity of the piece. But, I could use some help deciding what those price guidelines are. :'D

And, as always, general critique is welcome as well! I'm actually not /super/ happy with my style right now, so I'd love some tips on what I could improve on or experiment with. ^^

Anyways, here's my gallery, with the newest pieces in the back: <a https://wolfplaygame.com/forums.php?f=5&t=22720&page=10

Thanks for reading!

EDIT: One thing I'm considering doing in the future is breaking up my art into price categories depending on the level of shading - whether that be a flatcolor, cell shading, or painted shading. So, I'd love some pricing help on that front! Here's a drawing of Dash with each type of shading just to give an example of what I mean: (note that the cell shaded example is a bit old, oops)

Your art is amazing to me as always, so I've nothing to critique x'D

Pricing wise I'm not the best at, though I'd easily pay a few apples ^^

:o I was hoping you'd accept commissions, your art is adorable in my opinion. I don't think I can critique.

Pricing, I definitely don't think you should go below the 600 mark for full bodies. I'd happily pay 1000 - 4000 per piece easy. Just been looking through more of your art <3

I'd agree with Summer Storm with a few apples. Personally, the base price to me would reasonably be about three apples and go up from there, but that's just me. (you'd probably want it more affordable for people).

Your style was one that honestly took me a while to warm up to, and it was one originally not on my favorites list. Though, honestly, I've warmed up to it, and I do enjoy looking through your art gallery. At minimum, I'd definitely say a few apples.

Yoo-hoo, your neighbourhood fan has arrived c;

You may not notice it (and you've been hard on yourself about it) but you've actually improved a lot over the past few months since you've been 'inactive' art-wise. I really love your fur style and I'm sure other users do too. Your faces have improved and you've cured your 'same-face syndrome'. I love how expressive your subjects are now. c:

Your past prices were two apples and 500 mushrooms maximum, but since your improvement I'd say stretch it a little. Three apples for a fullbody with an abstract background, two apples and 500 mushrooms for a fullbody and one apple and 500 mushrooms for a headshot and background?

You know I'm a massive fan of your art and I'm highly anticipating your new art shop, if you ever make one. I feel like you've been too hard on yourself - I'm not saying that you should stop hating your art altogether, because strangely, hate can be a motivation for some, but treat yourself and your art a little bit better more often, OK? <3

I'll start off by saying I like your art, but I am aiming for actual criticism so I'll try to not just shower you in praise.

You're fur detail is nice and your lines clean, but the anatomy seems a touch off in places. Where the limbs are bony, feel free to show the outline of the bone. Dogs in particular have almost no muscle in their paws, and hind legs from ankle to toe. Your lines are a touch soft, more cartoony, which is fine for style, but has the issue of losing the 'movement' of the lines. You should be able to see how the animal would animate itself from the image alone.

http://oi65.tinypic.com/f0z94.jpg

This isn't the best example, my art is shit, but you can make out the sharp corners where the bones are closer to the surface, hinting at a working joint. The most important place for those sharp corners is the ankles, wrists, and elbows, since that is where the bones are most visible in an animal.

Really, having softer curves can very much be a style choice, though. I just thought I'd pitch in my two cents.

Also, a PWYW is useful, but set a bottom limit, a minimum requirement to be payed! It takes the pressure off you to charge and helps you weed out the low-ballers without being rude or losing out on too much currency.
