To use the PMs, go to 'Pack' > 'Game Mail'.
In your 'Game Mail', you can read messages sent to you, send out messages of your own, and receive alerts from the game through your toggleable alert preferences, for example, your wolf giving birth or someone commenting in your shoutbox would send you a game notification if you are set to receive these alerts.

To edit these preferences, go to 'Pack' > 'Account'.

To send a friend request, go to the den page of the user you would like to befriend. On their den page, more specifically, the information box of the user including their avatar, join date, etc. you will see in the bottom-right 'Friends'. Click 'Friends', then scroll on the 'Friends' page to the small white box next to 'Add Friend.' Click the box, a check should appear. Then 'Submit'.

You will not be able to send friends requests to packs with their friend requests disabled, or to a pack you have sent one to in the past four days or so.
