They'll get it for three days starting on the 1st of a month if their alliance has more PvP wins by the end of the previous month.

Explore Upgrade is a free upgrade given to any faction who has the most Pack versus Pack wins at the end of the month. Unlike Premuim upgrade, you do not need to buy it. It will automatically show up on your page. Meaning for the first three days of the month, if you faction won, you will have the upgrade. It isn’t much, as all it does is make it so you can explore every half hour instead of an hour(correct me if I’m wrong).

You can’t claim it, as once you faction has been deemed winner it is automatically given to you.
