Thoughts on the Wild Horses:
To say she isn't fond of the stallions who want them, or her, only because it'll make them look good, is an understatement. She nor the rest of her herd are not trophies to be paraded around. She has a more favorable opinion on the nicer stallions; the ones that would want to help, or wants her because he likes who she is.
Appearance:
This mare is quite distinctive in appearance. Her slender build and lightly muscled body give the impression of elegance and speed; indeed, she is more suited for speed and agility, with her sleek, thinner build than most other horses. With thin skin, fine hair and coat, and slender frame, one would think it gives her the impression of something delicate, fragile, but it doesn't. Like her breed, she gives the impression of length without weakness; the impression of grace with power; the impression of lithe athleticism without excessive musculature.
But while her figure is by itself distinctive, perhaps it is her coat that lends itself to this aspect of her appearance. She is a bay; her base coat a lovely rich reddish-brown that leans more on red than brown. Like most bays, she has black points on her legs and edges of her long ears, dark as night. The black on her front legs comes above the knees, and fades at the forearms to the reddish-brown of her coat; and the black on her hind legs creeps up above the hocks and fades in the same manner roughly at the gaskin, though the part on the back of the legs comes up a little bit farther than the bulk of the leg points. Interestingly, she also has white markings on all of her legs; they are from the hoof to roughly midway up the cannon. Another marking she has is a irregular stripe on her face; it starts at her forehead with a larger splotch, down the bridge of her nose, lower down, the white widens into a long shape that is a vague, rounded diamond shape, and it continues to her nose in a thin strip. And her small, round and very hard hooves are the lighter blonde color that a good amount of horses have,
As mentioned before, her coat is distinctive; but it isn't the color of it. No, instead it is the quality of it. Instead of the duller hair that isn't too shiny some horses have; or even the shining coats that some, usually seen in darker individuals, have; this mare's coat has a metallic sheen to it. The metallic shine of her hide is best seen in bright sunlight; the reddish-brown of her coat is lit aflame by the light, the metallic gleam taking on an orange tint over the reddish-brown. The effect is that she looks like a tongue of flame, bright and fiery, either standing still with the sun's rays reflecting off her fine coat, or a streak of flame swiftly moving across the ground; with a sparse black tail streaming behind her and a similiarly sparse mane flowing from her long neck like black ribbons. Her eyes, 'hooded' or 'oriental' in shape, are a dark brown color, but when the sun hits them, the brown seems to light up with a warmer, brighter shade that is strikingly similiar to her hide in the light. Something to note is that the black points on her legs, they don't gleam with that metallic shine like the rest of her body, they still reflect a bit of light, but not excessively so, in comparison, they'd be quite dull in terms of shine if not for the fact that it somehow looks good with the bright contrast of the white.
She is not the tallest horse, being of a breed that is meant to be medium in size, she stands at 15.2hh, which is a decent height in terms of a mare. But she often appears taller, in part from her more lanky appearance, and also because of the way that she stands; with her head up, neck higher in position than what most horses default to. Her gait, like most Akhal-Tekes, is best described as a smooth, elastic one. There is grace and power, especially evident when she is moving at a faster pace, such as a gallop or even a trot; her trot is a more high-stepping one, more defined arch in the knees and hocks, but the way she trots makes the movements less jarring. Again, smooth and elastic gaits; and while most horses in motion have the appearance of power, her kind infuses an elegance into it as well.
Personality:
First off, this mare is quite the intelligent creature. She is probably many things, but stupid is not one of them. She learns things pretty quick, just give her an opportunity to make a mistake once or twice and she'll pick it up, as she does well with instructions but she seems to do best with learning by trial and error by herself. Despite her youth and inexperience to older, seasoned horses, she has a good head on her shoulders. Can be a bit impulsive or quick to act because of said youth, but that'll be addressed later on.
Another thing is that Electra is an alert creature. Even though she has never wanted for shelter and safety in her known life, she still watches out for things; even when relaxing she will pop her head up and take a cursory glance around her surroundings. And it is not uncommon to see her looking around with all the vigilance of a sentry. It is both an act of instinct and conscious mind; it is the nature of creatures to have an eye on their surroundings, for in the wild, it is a matter or life or death to spot a predator, and react accordingly opposed to being taken by surprise. And she has always been an alert creature; not by pure instinct, nor because of her breed, but just because she herself was alert.
She is a spirited animal, while not one to make a fool of herself, she is clearly a lively horse. As all younger things are, she is full of energy, and thanks to her heritage which among other things, developed endurance, she could go for miles if she wished before reaching her limit for the day. Sometimes there are times where she just seems to be bursting with energy, a barely contained force vibrated just beneath her hide; and those are times where she will bolt out into the pasture and have to run off her extra energy. She definitely isn't the type to quietly exist in a stall for long periods of time; she can easily get restless if not allowed to move around outside.
As a counter to this energetic part of her, most of the time she is a confident young thing; dignified. She is sure of herself, and has a degree of confidence not often seen in younger things; quiet, solid. And the dignity, also, is often seen in those older than herself, it is an uncommon but not unwelcome thing to see. A good part of this is also because of her mother's influence while growing up. She had been told to try and keep a dignified air, unlike so many other youngsters, to be poised, calm, and composed. To keep her head up high, and her bearing calmly confident. For their lineage was an ancient one, one to be proud of and that they should uphold that dignity of their ancestors; for her mother could already tell she would grow up to be a beautiful mare, and it would be befitting of any to have that confidence; and it made a better impression on others; besides, in a way, it was kind of fun. And it wasn't like she was taught to be stuffy or stuck-up, she had witnessed her mother burst into a sudden gallop or even engage in a bit of rough play with the other mares as she was growing up. So to match the elegance of her natural movements, she has the self-confidence and dignity befitting an older horse. Most of the time.
Something else is that this mare is not afraid to speak her mind. She will say what she thinks of something, maybe an idea or plan, and sometimes it is not phrased in the most delicate manner. More relating to something she regards to foolish, because sometimes idiots need to have a few sterner words in order to get them to see sense. Or maybe a sharp nip. But she is not one to silently disagree, even if it gets her in trouble with the rest of the group, she will put her opinion in there, everyone else be damned. Sometimes, she will make an effort to phrase something in a more tactful way, or sometimes she won't. It really depends on her. But anyone can count on her to voice a problem or disagreement.
Electra is actually pretty mature, which fits in nicely with the dignity. She is of a more serious and pragmatic mindset, it's just who she always has been. There's not much to say for this part, as it is more self-explainatory.
She is a more cautious animal, not the type to trust too easily, it takes a little bit for her to warm up to a stranger, fellow horse or human or anything really. The cautious nature may also be linked to her alertness, for they are things closely tied with each other. But when she trusts, then she is a good friend or ally to have; she's loyal to those who have earned her trust, and she will stay by their side until the end.
Now, Electra can be persistent when she wants to be. Often bordering and even crossing the line to stubborn; you have to give it her, when she wants to do something, she sticks to it. When she has a belief of hers, she will stand by it. But it could be annoying or irritating to some, especially a leader if she doesn't want to go along with something. And there will be times where she decides to back off, and then broach the topic again. Stubborn. Sometimes it can be good, sometimes it can be bad; and it can swing either way really. But, again, she can be stubborn when she wants or needs to be.
While she maintains a mature, dignified front, and is truly much like that, at her core, she is a fighter. Fierce when provoked, she may not engage in a physical fight, but she will show that she is not to be pushed around. She will not stand to be bullied or messed with, or disrespected; and she will stand up for herself. She does have a bit of a temper on her, usually hidden behind the calmer bits of her personality, but she does get annoyed a bit more easily inside, she can switch to aggression a bit faster. Better watch out, because you will not want to get on her bad side; and she does have a bit of a vengeful streak as well, she may not act on it but she sure will show her dislike towards whoever wronged her or those she cares about.
