Bay's head snapped up from petting Dixie. The dog's barking did not fade, nor die down. It grew even louder. Silver, an Australian Cattle dog, seemed extremely disturbed by the strange man. The fur on her back had risen, and her lips were peeled back to reveal her pearly white canines. Her ears were also pinned back. "S-sir? If you're here to pick up your dog, the front desk is out there..." Bay pointed a shaky finger back the way the odd man had come from. She did not recognize him. She took in his battered features, and wounded state. "Are you alright?" she asked bravely. "Do you need me to call the ambulance? Or would you just like to rest?" she asked, pulling up a chair from her desk. Rob, Bay's co-worker was about to enter the room, then he noticed the man. He spun around quickly, and went in a different direction. The dogs continued to bark, and Bay continued to stare in shock. |

Nouma's eyes locked onto Rob's movement for a brief moment, then flickered around. He nodded slightly and raised a hand, trying to summon the chair to him with his hellish power. It didn't work, as he anticipated. With a snort of annoyance he stepped forward and pulled the chair closer to him with his long arms. There was something about the human, but he couldn't think enough to figure it out. He slowly took a seat and examined one hand. The cuts were starting to clot but the glass was deep. He let his hand fall and head flop to his chest. He would worry about it later.. He just needed a minute to compose himself... |

Bay flinched when he flopped his head suddenly. She glanced at the door, then back at the man. She noticed his bloody hands, and the glass imbedded in his skin. "Do you want me to look at that?" she asked. She was no doctor, nor physician, but she knew how to treat wounds such as the man's, due to past experiences. She reached for the handle of a drawer on her desk, and gently opened it. Inside, she grabbed gauze, peroxide, tweezers (originally used for the dogs when they get ticks) and a towel. She set them on the desk, not willing to move toward the man unless he asked for her help. She sat on the edge of her desk, setting her hands on her lap, and patting her thighs uncomfortably. |

Nouma opened his eyes once his heart rate stopped jumping. He licked his dry lips and accepted it: he was weak. For the moment. He looked up to see the human perched on the edge of the desk. He glared and almost growled, but resisted the urge. Fear was not necessary at the moment, it would only worsen things. His hand clenched and the pain quickly reversed the action. Humans ought never to see him weak. They had no right. And yet, of the two humans here the larger stronger had fled. What did the smaller human have that he didn't? He wondered. He examined the human for a moment. A woman, with a lean yet tough tan frame, dark hair, and the green specs in the sea of brown that drew his attention. Nouma tried to pull at a glass shard and proceeded to make his other hand throb. Defeatedly he held out his hand to the woman. |

Bay looked up at the man, then gently took his hand in hers. She placed the towel in her left hand, and set the man's on her's and the towel. She then grabbed the tweezers, and proceeded to gently ease the glass shards from their embedded area. Blood gushed out of the holes that the glass left. She used the edge of the towel beneath the man's hand to dab the blood gently. The glass shards were tossed into a garbage can by Bay's leg. After she removed the glass and got the bleeding to stop, she set the tweezers down and proceeded to grabe the hydrogen peroxide. "This may sting a little," Bay warned, before pouring a little bit of the bottle onto the wounds. They sizzled and spat, the liquid burning away the germs. She dabbed them once more with the towel. Finally, she wrapped the man's hand up with the guaze. It stuck to itself. She then began to clean up her desk and place the tools she used for the man back in her desk. |

Nouma watched the process in caustic acceptance. He sniffed, green eyes roving past the woman into places unseen. Humans, he mused. So weak and fleshy. He felt better once the bleeding was stopped. If only he hadn't been weakened before. The cuts would have been nothing. He brushed at the bits in his leg. They would come out once his fiery blood coursed without resistence. In the meantime he worked at the bigger bits, more out of boredom and annoyance than pain. His nostrils flared angrily. He heard the clatter of the human next to him. Starting slightly, he turned his piercing gaze on her. He frowned as he remembered what he had been trying to pinpoint. This human, this woman, had been rattled by his appearance. He recalled it in the mirror. He was a sight even a weak demon would be leery of. Yet, despite that, this strange human had immediately wanted to help. Why? He recalled the man. A sudden anger came over him. He did not know its source. He narrowed his eyes at the woman. "Who are you?" he said at length. |

Bay's head snapped up at the man's sudden question. She finished cleaning up her area, then walked over to a kennel occupying a shy-looking silver lab puppy. Her gray eyes looked up at Bay's uncertainly, then darted in the direction of the man. "I'm Bay. I work here." Bay answered. A brief wave of anger flowed through her. Why did I feel the need to tell him that? I should be the one asking him why he's here, she thought. "Who are you?" she asked suspiciously, glancing at him, then the lab. |

Nouma felt slightly insulted, but of course humans would not recognize a sly demon such as himself. He was affirming himself and he knew it. He licked his lips and grimaced. "I work for the second most powerful person on this earth." he announced. He wished it was first, but there was no point denying it. Some things were more powerful than he. He felt rage turn his blood to ice and bones to steel. If he had his demonic powers he could spread his terrifying wings and stretch his maw of fangs to grotesque proportions. She would shake in fear at his hideous red form and cower in the gaze of his acidic eyes. |

The man's response sent a chill through Bay. She shivered visibly, but kept her head held up high. She reached into the kennel and gently grabbed the puppy. She didn't fuss or protest when she was out, and sat perfectly still in Bay's arms. "Who might that be?" Bay wanted to ask, but her mouth refused to open. She was unsure whether to be concerned about the man and call the police, or just wave it off. It's just the wounds. He lost some blood and now he's saying weird things. He probably just needs to go home, Bay hoped. The puppy buried her head into Bay's arm. She stroked her soft fur gently. "Do you think that maybe you should go home and rest- sir?" Bay asked, frustrated because he didn't state his name. She chose to address him formally, even though formality wasn't Bay's specialty. |

Nouma snorted internally. Home? Of couse he wanted to go home. A thousand degree furnace of peace and agony. Where he was powerful and bullied the weak demons with his massive wings. At least he was still tall. He leaned forward and stood up. He glared at the puppy. How had he mistaken that for the massive, murderous hounds of hell? He clenched his hand. Focus. He needed a plan. His green eyes roved agitatedly as he formed one. He needed somewhere to lie low for a few days. Let his strength come back. A grin tugged at the corners of Nouma's mouth as he found an oppurtunity. "Where did your friend go? The one who ran off earlier. Maybe he can take me where I need to go." he said. |
