I'm always a sucker for griffins! I've got two characters, and what I can do with them is just always so fascinating. A close second is the hippocampus I also really like exploring "lore"/beliefs from other cultures; Inuit, Mayan, and Aztec figures were my hyper fixation for a good few years. But Mesopotamian scorpion men are also very interesting . . I almost used a variant of fairy and put some twists on it instead of the Dryad, but I feel like Dryads make less of an appearance in popular stories, so it felt like more of a challenge |

That is true, rarely do you see dryads as heroes. usually they're side characters. Griffins are cool, and hippocampus' are great. I re-looked them up to make sure that I was thinking of the right thing and a lot of brains first came up. Stupid school invading mythology. I haven't gone deep into other culture's beliefs, only greek. If you have the time, I'd be glad to hear about the scorpion men. |

It's such a bummer, because they're just so cool and there's so much you can do with them! I'm gonna throw in little places while they explore where y'all can find stuff to learn more about each species because adding everything in the main thread would've been super overwhelming, but the Elves and Dryads especially are going to have some nice little secrets that vanished with the dragons the current dragons descended from the basic earth dragon and all that, so I promise I didn't mention those in the lore for no reason heh . . so basically; scorpion men have the head, torso & arms of a man, but the body of a scorpion. super freaky to look at they're sort of a force of chaos, and serve/protect the sun god Shamash, plus fighting off demons they actually make an appearance in Epic of Gigamesh iirc? I could be remembering wrong it's going on 5 years now lol I had to read it in honors English back in freshman year, idk if other English courses made it mandatory reading or not |

I figured we would start with the humanoids together in camp and then go to them finding each of their dragons. Yeah this means dragon characters such as myself have to wait a bit to post but I think it would be more interesting to write those encounters as they happen rather then sort of narrating them to ourselves, if that makes any sense |

Ooo!! Gilgamesh! I just got that from a closing school who was giving away books. I'll have to start reading that. Hopefully it'll have the scorpiomen in it, because I'd love to see these dudes in action. Have you watched the second Mummy? There was this really bad CGI scorpioman in it. |

I dunno, early 2000s also produced the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy. While sometimes you could really see the CGI in some actions, Gollum was incredible. Mummy 2 came out in 2001. Fellowship of the Ring did too, and I know that Gollum didn't get a lot of screen time then, he still looked great during the mines. |
