Dust Fern bounded through the tall grass towards the den. She shrunk as she neared and crawled in. "You need to stop trying so hard. I could've ended it if I didn't have to worry about you," she told her human companion as she slid off her back.

Alyssa led the others back to the clearing.

Fern curled up and allowed her human to crawl closer. They curled up together to sleep away their worries.
