You follow the tracks by the rock pile. They lead to more rock piles and several ringed tails vanishing into various hiding places. Looks like it is just some foraging raccoons.

b~ Look around for more clues

You pull out a couple of melon slices and a chunk of meat and toss them down at the creature in the foliage below you. The wolf yelps in alarm and looks up at you. After a lot of staring and sniffing, it finally grabs the meat chunk and drags it a few feet away before starting to gnaw on it.

You stay where you are and watch the wolf eat. It doesn't do much other than eat and look around. The wolf seems pretty content to take its time.
