You stroll towards the local park to see if you have any luck in finding a stray. When you get there, there are already some people taking walks and walking their companions. Towards the center of the area you can spot some people throwing balls for their dogs, and the further areas of the park is lined with fences and bushes

You have decided today is the day to get a dog or two! You gently push the doors of the pet shop open with a little ding of the golden bell overhead and purchase your desired items. The cashier is nice enough to give you a tote bag for all of your items, and you set out east

You decide to head towards one section of the city you remember having quite a few abandoned buildings and run down shops. It takes a while to get there, and when you do you recognize the area almost immediately due to the chipping paint on an apartment complex and the boarded windows of an old pizza kitchen. You can't hear anything, and the street looks relatively empty

At first glance inside, you can't really see any movement. Yet, you enter anyways. The dining area is empty save for the leftover furniture yet to be removed if at all. Having no luck, you move further in. A startled bark greets you, and sitting right by the old brick oven is a German shepherd covered in what you assume is soot. They eye you distrustfully, stance rather tense

A. Speak softly to them to see if that will calm them down

You crouch down slowly as to not startle the canine further and stretch your hand out to see if they'll sniff it. The dog eyes you warily, not moving before finally, when they deem it safe, slowly inch towards you. They sniff your hand a few centimeters away from actually touching it, before backing up a few steps when they're done. They don't seem as wary, as the dog is closer than they used to be, but still don't seem very keen on letting you touch them
