Akira, gritting their teeth with tears in their eyes: "Everything I hate about myself, I learned from you."

Kronos, smiling, fully unbothered: "And in doing so, I made you the fiercest warrior in the galaxy."

Briar, to Stellan and Aries after a breakdown: "I don't... I don't even know what I'm looking for anymore. I don't even know who I am."

Revan, to Ingall, having spent the day with him and helping him stay calm after recognizing he was triggered, after the polycule’s been together for a while: “What is it, what's wrong?”

Ingall, looking at Revan with a mixture of awe, confusion, and gratitude, still unable to process how the others actually care for him, especially when he's triggered over things he deems unreasonable: “I didn't think anyone would notice me…”

Akira, to Nico, in an argument after the polyship is finally starting to get close again, struggling to process why Nico is still acting distant despite claiming to love them: “I saved your life, twice!”

Nico, feeling all the emotion they kept bottled up come to the surface, finally starting to let it out as the others watch: “Because you put my life in danger twice. Why can't you do something decent for once?"

Akira, confused, frustrated (mostly at themself), and lashing out because they don't know what else to do: "Because my mentor, Kronos, tried to kill me!"

Nico, who's been struggling with maintaining emotions since their breakdown, almost completely flat, making eye-contact for the first time in ages: "Of course he tried to kill you, and you tried to kill... most of us. "

Akira, going on the defensive without really thinking, currently oblivious to the fact that they are very clearly triggering Nico: "I will not be spoken to like this by you or anyone else!"

Nico, taking a step back and starting to turn away, wide-eyed and afraid, but still speaking up before the others can step in: "What is wrong with you?! I am reaching out to you, despite everything you have done, and you still can't get out of your own way! God! I feel sorry for you."

Akira, reaching out to grab Nico without thinking: "Don't turn your back on me!"

Nico, fully starting to panic, going into fight or flight and shoving Akira away, shouting over their shoulder and automatically going toward Garvin for familiarity: "I should have turned my back on you ages ago!"

*A bit of context for this next one. So, when the Misfits were originally banding together, there's another member who I haven't mentioned yet, mostly because they aren't there for very long (and also because lore, but at this point it's whatever, lmao. I'll give ya a Neka later), Comet, who ends up dying in the same fight that'll pull Aries away from the group. Comet joins much later than everyone else and is only actually around for a couple of weeks or so before dying. However, her and Vee got very close very quickly, and Vee sees it all as kind of a betrayal from Bri at first because they promised family and relative safety. This is resolved somewhat quickly because Stellan's helpful and all that, but, yeah- This would happen the night or two after everything*

Vee, absolutely pissed, shoving past Stellan and Lux toward Bri, gesturing toward (well, in the general direction, 'cause, you know, blind-) Aries, who's been treated for his wounds after the fight and is sitting quietly next to Stellan: "Aries almost died."

Bri, slightly taken aback at the sudden outburst: "I-"

Vee, continuing, hand wrapped tightly around her cane: "Comet got killed."

Bri, tensing, dealing with their own grief and getting defensive to keep from having a full breakdown, almost failing as they speak: "You think I don't know? I'm the one who buried her body, I'm the one who was supposed to protect them! I watch her die... every night."

Vee, straightening a little, expression dark: "Good."

Akira, balling their hands into fists and looking at the ground: "My friends think I like to fight, but it's just not true... Sometimes I lose my temper and blow off a little steam, but I've never enjoyed it! I'm not a violent person, I don't know why I fight..."

Ingall, sitting beside them, smiling slightly before reaching out to grab their hand: "I'm not attracted to monsters."

Akira, looking up in surprise before softening: "Thank you..."

Nico, shortly after the polycule starts talking again and Nico starts actually speaking more, sitting against her bed frame, knees pulled to her chest: "I'm scared..."

Akira, looking up from the book they were reading to look over at Nico, concerned and fully ready to destroy whatever Nico's scared of: "Scared? Of what?"

Nico, hesitating and refusing to make eye-contact, clenching his fists: "You."

*Nico knocks over a drink earlier on in the polycule’s relationship, one of the first obvious glimpses into the abuse she faced*

Akira, concerned, reaching out to help clean up: “Hey, don’t worry about it!”

Nico, looking even more freaked out when Akira stands, shaking their head a little: “I- no, I-”

Revan, standing slowly and placing a hand on Nico’s shoulder to help ground him: “Okay, seriously, it’s just a drink.”

Nico, taking a breath and trying to ignore the image of Adiar yelling and hitting them for this exact reason: “Yeah…”

*Nico, before the polycule is officially together in AFCS, runs into Garvin and Akira after one of Adiar’s… friends… was given the opportunity to “watch over” Nico for a bit (something Adiar allowed on occasion), walking into the room, dissociating slightly with a bandaged face*

Akira, glancing at Garvin, both having been suspicious of Adiar for a while: “Hey buddy… What happened to your face?”

Nico, smiling a little, acting just as cheerful as usual, if not a little distant: “I’m not supposed to tell!”

Garvin, tensing a little: “What do you mean?”

Nico, shrugging casually: “My ‘friend’ said I’m not supposed to tell.”

Akira, trying hard to remain calm: “Well, if something happened, you have to tell somebody…”
