Celeste was beside herself. " Why am I actting like this to a perfect stranger?" She thought her question though as she crossed over to the window. It was getting to the point of the moon coming over the tree line. almost not a star in sight. " Huh... weird.. no stars mean something... oh why does that matter?" she laughed. " the day is at least over and I can sleep my nerves off" She then crossed over to her bed and layed on it before closing her eyes. She slept like a human even though she didnt have to. Her mind was filled with the blood of war and most of her side perishing, while the other side only had a few caualties. She would wake up and think over the war in her mind, even in the face of her new stranger. The truth about who she was, had to come out sooner or later. After a few minutes of running as a blur he made it back to his room the same way he left. Up the tree, on the wall, threw the window. He walked over to his door and opened and closed it thoughjust in case. Then he proceeded to throw his vintage chair to the other side of the room. Who does she think she is. Interrupting my dinner to take me to the middle of nowhere, have me eat dear like a mortal and walk myself home. "GOD DAMNIT!" Walking over to the bathroom sink he turned on the water and splashed himself in the face and looked in the mirror to see nothing. He slammed the bathroom door and fell to the floor knowing that if he could cry he probably would. Instead he sat in silence. He didn't recognize her, so he knew he didn't fight with her. He had never heard that name so he knew she wasn't on the same side as him. That means she was an enemy. He got up and dried of his face as he got his act together, knowing he couldn't just be seen as a mess. As he looked in that moment. Leaving the bathroom he picked up the chair like a child would a ragdoll. Like it was nothing and put it back in its spot. He changed into a t-shirt that was about 30 years old and some faded washed out jeans. He left his apartment and took the stairs to the roof. He didn't sleep at night. Yes he could amd then be fine during the day and walk in the sun as it was a myth that vampires couldn't. The only true stories where they aye blood, and didn't have a reflection. Other then that it was all lies. He looked over the railing and remembered the days when houses where only 7 feet tall instead of 70. How much cleaner the air was. Gazing up he grimaced at the sky, no longer being able to see stars. He flopped on his back and laid down on the concrete roof. He already ate, and even though it was unsatisfactory he was full. He didn't feel like moving. Closing his eyes only showed him misery, and since he didn't have to sleep or blink he kept them open. Staring at the starless gray haze that set over the city skyline. Celeste couldnt sleep that night. So, she got off her bed and grabbed her shorts asnd a short sleeve shirt before grabbing her key and locked the door behind her. " I have to go and taslk to him" He may be an enemy, but how could he be? He looks so neat and kind" Celest thought as she headed to the roof, like old times. But then she thought of seeing him on the roof and then stopped before reaching the door. " No Celeste... you must go up there and talk to him about what happened in the alley" And she did just that. She opened the door and immediately saw him, sitting there lookng at the sky. " Hey.. I thought I would be the only one up here" she teased as she slowly walked up to him " Hey... look im sorry about your late snack back ther ein the alley. I shouldnt have done that. Anything I can do to make up for that?" She looked at him after she sat beside him.

His body temperature was beginning to match the air around him and the concrete as it always did when he heard the door open. He didn't bother lifting to see who it was as he knew who it was. The one with no pulse, Celeste. He chuckled at what she said. "I think you knew ide be up here." He looked at his cloths and wished he hadn't changed into this. It looked so trashy. Whatever, to late to fix it. He knew he had good taste in fashion and really wasn't one for the average look. "Apologies are all mine. Both for this crime of an outfit and my unchecked behavior. One would think after 170 odd years plus a human life of 25 I could keep my temper." He joked back at her as she sat down besides him. At her next offer though he couldn't help but sit up straight and delay speaking. It would be wrong to ask of something out of guilt. Right?... He rubbed his hands threw his hair and met her eyes calmly. "You owe no one anything." He got closer and threw an arm around her. "Just answer me this. You mentioned the dark makes you unsettled. Why is that?" He knew that would get something out of her. He tilted his heard and rested it on his leg which he brought up to his chest and removed that arm. Not wanting to overstep for to long.

Celeste chuckled lightly at his thoughts " You know I can hear your thoughts, right?" she said looking up at him before looking away back at the night sky, shivering a little. " Who cares what we wear. All that matters is what is inside you." Celeste didnt even flinch when the strange vampire's arm was around her for a few seconds. She actually didnt mind a warm arm around her. In her oppionion, having an arm around her, wasnt a problem at all." Do you really wanna know about my not likeing the dark? Well, its the war... thats why I cant handle the dark. I dont know how else I can say it. It just... lasted too long...into the night and into the next day... and on and on." She stayed quiet after that, hearing the sound of crickets and the wind. " And you never said what your name was. I told you mine, did I not?" Her eyes then locked back onto his and a tiny smile left her lips. Edited at August 31, 2021 09:39 AM by LunarOrbitPack

He stood up and shook his head, taking a moment to fully obsorb what she said. Yes he knew different Vampires had different abilities, he'll he could fly, it just took a lot of energy and he was lazy. But that. That is power. "Well I'll be damned." He went over the edge of the balcony and jumped to stand on the ledge, teetering back and forth. "I highly doubt there's anything inside me worth looking at." He laughed a little though it faded as he could feel her pain. His body suddenly got tense and his mind raced. He felt like he was shrinking, being surrounded. "I know precisely the feeling." In that final sentence he let himself be vulnerable, like someone could drive a stake threw him. Even his original Scottish accent shone threw slightly. "I. I. I can hear their screams. The fallen." He didn't pay attention to her follow up. Just the images. A white haze fell over his eyes as he went to his knees and stared at the moon. "You know it wasn't fair to take him. He wasn't even 18!" He seemed to be yelling at someone who wasn't there. But to him it was his commander who deemed his brother fit for war, and later died. Edited at August 31, 2021 09:32 PM by AppleBottomJeans

" You know what.. I dont need to know your name I prolly would have to guess. These dreams have a way of telling me the names of the ones in the war. Thatw ar was too hard and too deadly" Celeste said standing up a while later. She didnt even know what he was talking about when he mentioned the one who someone took away from him. She knew it wasnt her place to interveen. She put an arm around him to try and make him feel better. " What do you mean you dont have anything worth looking at" she chuckled looking at him with a side ways glance. " You are way better lookin than the guys I used to go out with. But you wouldnt care about that." She waited for a short while before speaking again. " I guess you arent the only one who lost someone special in your life, huh? I did too. But I got past that a hundred years ago. I have to get through life like it would be my last. And make the most of it. " She hoped that what she just said would go deep into him and speak to him somehow. She was glad she had brough a shawl just in case she stayed on the roof longer than planned. She wrapped it around herself before sitting back down a little bit farther away form him to give him some space. " If you want to talk about it, you are always welcome over to my..p-place." And that was the last thing she said to him that night. Edited at September 1, 2021 09:37 AM by LunarOrbitPack

He struggled to get it back together. His brother was the only family he had cared about. Not his human family, not his maker, but his makers youngest projony. But it didn't mater. He was gone. Nothing to do about it now. The haze left as his mind was cear from his brothers bloody and battered face and he stood up. Regaining his posture like nothing happened, like a switch when she put an arm around him in return. "O really. And who's to say I'm not?" He gave an amused smirk as he tilted his dead down at the smaller vampire before him and laughed a little. But it went quite and she spoke next. "My brother, he was turned when he was 18 in his human life, then he had just turned five in this life when he was taken." He saw how she dealt with it. More of an ignore it till it went away approach. Not to bad of an idea. . When she sat down and further away he took it as a cue to back off and went closer to the greenhouse and laid down on the cement again. He glanced over to see she had put on the shawl. I though we couldn't get cold? He had never been cold, just the temperature around him. Like a reptile. "I may need to take you up on that offer." She went to get up and leave and somehow he didn't want her to. "Its Marshall Black. My name mean." Then he heard the door close and he was alone again. Marshal Black is it? Celest thought as she unlocked her door before walking inside. She sat on her bed for a long time, thinking about the war, Marshal's brother, her own family, and soon to be mate, who she would never mention to anyone She gave a smile at his acceptance to her place. It would be good to hang out and get to know each other better. She knew she didnt want to leave his side that time on the roof either, but it had to be done so she could think things through. Celeste chuckled at her thinking of needing and wanting Marshal now. Morre than ever. Since tears began to fall from her golden eyes. At her anger , she tossed her pillow against the wall before falling asleep, dreaming of the war and the family she could have had.

He stayed on that roof all night. Motionless, like he was only a corpse. He had heard some people say keeping ur mind clear was impossible. He was starting to believe them. Normally there wasn't any thought that went on. Now he seemed almost restless. All he could think about was Celeste. How she was so kind, her eyes that where so full of... something. He couldn't figure out what it was. But it was definitely there. He put his arms under his head as he began to see just a bit of the sun. All it reminded him of was her golden eyes. "I should probably be headed down now." He kept his voice low, knowing others where still asleep as he got up and went over to the staircass, quickly opening the door so it wouldn't creek open. Down the sators he went slowly till he got to her floor. He paused for a moment in front of it. He didn't want to wake her up, but still for some reason wanted her to know he was okay. He tapped it three times, soft enough to not disturb anyone, but loud enough for any vampire with good hearing to hear. He looked at the door smiled and kept moving till he got to his room. He closed the door slowly and sat in his chair, the one he threw and turned on the TV. Edited at September 3, 2021 10:16 PM by AppleBottomJeans
