Ruina resist the urge to make any face or say anything under her breath. Milano would kill her if she dared to make a scene here... Then he'd send her home to her parents, where her parents would rip her apart there. There was never satisfying the headmaster, nor the royalty of Truhan.
Ruina settles for a gentle sigh, watching as the assignment scrolls drop into the elves' hands. The students of Storm Coast Academy had already been informed of the scrolls, and had been instructed that no complaints should be made. That the pairs were set and would not be changed, no matter what.
Ruina couldn't help but wonder if somehow she had managed to get paired with an elf? Or someone from her own Academy? She was already shunned but her own kind, how would she be treated when the elves found out she couldn't harness her magical abilities.
Ruina watches as Milano dismisses the elves, and suddenly the courtyard was filled with the humans as well. Ruina remains on the edge, her sharp grey eyes scanning the crowd. Thaola and Tarron were sort of on the edge, however, were talking with elves. No doubt the ones they had been paired with. A bout of sadness hit Ruina, during this tournament, she was unsure of how much she would get to spend time with her cousin and best friend.
Would she be reduced to solitude yet again? Every day, all day. Reduced to watching as everyone else trained and got ready. After all, there was no way Milano was having her participate in the tournament. Right? That would be humiliating, and even if her father practically disowned her, he would not do well with hearing how his daughter had been humiliated in a school tournament. Milano would be screwed.
Ruina straights up from her spot leaning against the wall, there was no point in dwelling on it now. That would do her no good. There was only one thing to do now. Go for a run in the woods, or get Corporal or take to the skies.
The princess slipped away undetected away from the courtyard and into the school. Though much of the school was in the courtyard, mingling and talking to the elves. There was still a decent amount of students within the school. However, none paid any attention to Ruina as she and her wolves moved swiftly through the halls.
Ruina glances down at her companions, the two wolves trotting along. Tails wagging slowly and ears up. The wolves were happy and content, as they always were when they were roaming the halls. They hated being confined to Ruina's room, which happened a lot more then Ruina liked. However, Milano often threw a fit if the wolves were out and he thought it wrong and disrespectful to have them there.

Chrysanthos: Slowly and deliberatly, Chrys takes his time trying to interpret the restless arrow on the magical scroll. Every step he took it seemed like the arrow would always move to another position. Ugh. Maybe I'll just let them find me. Standing still, he dropped his arms to his side and noticed the girl with wolves slip inside with meekness. The wolves followed her easily, even though they were almost twice the size of her they stepped with decision. She had a power with the way she walked but seemed that she wasnt too sure of herself. "Hey... Hey there?" Chrys was startled by a small voice that belonged to a short redhead human. His eyes focused on the being and his form was skinnier than most. He had a pointy chin, short spiky red hair, and skinny elbows that seemed to stick out. "I'm Jeeter. You can call me Jeet." The boy quipped. "Ah, I'm Chrys. Nice to meet you." Chrys blinked in surprise at the speed the boy talked with. Jeeter flicked a finger and out of no where 2 birds flew down carrying a bag of crackers. He ripped into it and offered the bag to Chrysanthos. "Want some?" Animal maipulation. Convienient. He seems small and smart I would have thought it to be Air manipulation. Chrys warily took some of the peace offering. "Thanks man. I still need to hone in my skills not gonna lie." With that, Chrys thought about his connection to the ground and in front of him in a small circle grew a small patch of clovers. Jeeter leaned down to touch them and instantly they grew mouths and began to snap at his fingers. "Oh shit! Thats kind of dope man!" Chrys nodded. Little did Jeeter know, it was only clovers he could manipulate to become somewhat dangerous. Nothing else could grow a mouth at this point in his training. "Cmon, lets show you inside. We got a room to share and I'm getting the bottom bunk." Chrys turned and followed Jeeter inside as the group continued making training matches and slowly started to dissapate. Ruina finally gets bored of roaming the halls and chose to head for the main hall. It was the largest room in the school, it was where meals were held and where any large activities were held. No doubt, many of the students would be there. Probably even some elves. Her wolves trail after her, still completely content and happy. They had been cooped up in her room for a while.
Was it a smart idea bringing the wolves into such a public place? Only if Milano saw the wolves, after all, he'd be about the only one to throw a fit. Which, most of the time Ruina could calm them. But sometimes, the headmaster just flew into a rage, and the only way to make him stop was to agree to send the wolves back to her room. Which she hated doing, but usually she got away with it.
Ruina pauses outside the main hall, the doors were open, and she could hear the students inside. Oh yeah, it was packed. With a final sigh, she steps inside, her wolves moving a little closer to her. Ruina clears a path, without ever saying a word. The students just automatically shifted out of her way, only to fade back to where they were once she was past.
It was something she was use to, after all, it had happened in the castle all the time. Mainly at the crowded events, even if she wasn't being talked to. The people just parted for her, but she did suppose that was one perk of royalty. Everyone moved out of the way, and she didn't have to try and awkwardly get around them.
Ruina's grey eyes scan the room, no sign of Thaola or Tarron. There was no telling where those two were. Either showing the elves the campus, or just having fun. Ruina sighs, which prompted a quiet growl from Zephyr. Beside him, Kehlani bares her teeth. And the students around Ruina look nervously at the wolves.
Ruina shushes them with a quiet murmur, she was just bored and tired of doing absolutely noting.

Chrysanthos: After getting settled into his bunk, he had spoken with Jeeter for a while, learning that Storm Coast was in Truhan and all meaning that he needed to act on his best behavior being around kin of higher demeanor. Chrys began to wander the halls, taking note of the gorgeous scenery, almost every wall seemed to be intricately designed with careful handiwork so much so that the walls seemed to move when glanced at. Chrysanthos made his way to the main hall with the guidance of Jeeter. They both made their way inside, taking a corner to liking with a shrug of their shoulders, the boys agreed to stay where they were. For some reason, today more than normal, Chrys was feeling energetic but weak. The normal energy he could pull from did not feel present around Jeeter and it made him feel lesser than that of his peers. Standing in the Main Hall awaiting the next command for training for Elves and Humans alike, Chrys noticed the girl with the wolves. She seemed to spark something in him. He felt powerless but looking at her seemed to give him a spark of hope. She always seemed to clear the room being that Humans disliked the wolves by her side. Chrys thought it to be very sexy. She was able to walk side by side with such powerful creatures so that everyone around her had to take steps back. Her demeanor was very kept and she seemed to keep by herself. He made sure to try and maintain a strong line of eye contact with the beautiful girl with a slender body. It seemed like she would notice and shy away, which would contradict the fact of the beautiful creatures at her side. "ATTENTION" Organized clapping was heard from a small orc-like woman with a purple dress and lots of peircings from the center of the room. "I am Magdalaine Defauw. NO need to remember my name i can go by MADAME. My whole job is to get you ..... CHILDREN into order for training before the Association tries to test us and make ME seem like a fool." Magdalaine seemed severly stressed out to Chrys, being that she was an orc she seemed to have a lot on her plate trying to help in a wizarding school. But, Nonetheless, it was a Scholar figure and he knew he needed to listen. Magdalaine began to drawl on about the importance of elves and humans coming together and Chrys began to tune out, focusing on the slender girl with the wolves. Mental note: I need to talk to her. Shes such an enthralling figure. He couldnt conatin the feelings he had while looking at her and began vigorously tapping his left foot. Jeeter moved in towards Chrys's ear, "Man i can feel your stare just by looking at you. That's Ruina, she is a prodigy over here, butttt she just cant seem to unlock herself. I know she has those wolves but dont get close she doesnt seem to like people." Chrys felt a pang of sympathy. He was an esteemed prodigy among elves, but among humans? Thats a different story. Proving himself to Ruina was going to be a task. Edited at February 17, 2023 01:13 AM by Gnashtooth

Ruina finally found a spot to relax, and she just stands there. Sort of lost in her own world, although occasionally she'd tune into people's conversations. Though she never said anything, just preferring to remain to herself. The doors open again, and more people come flooding in. However, none were Thaola or Tarron, and so Ruina doesn't even move a muscle. Falling back into her own world, as her wolves start to mess with each other. Snapping their teeth at each other and playing with each other. Well, as much as they could without messing with anyone else.
Suddenly Ruina felt someone's gaze on her, and her grey gaze was on the move at once. Her lips thinning, she didn't like being stared at. It made her uncomfortable, made her feel like she was being studied like prey. It didn't take her long to figure out who was staring at her. An elf. One that sort of stuck out different from the rest, though Ruina wasn't sure why. But, as someone who was not afraid of a stare down, her grey eyes meet his brown ones. Her grey gaze cool and calm, she wasn't going to look away first. Not unless she absolutely had, although she was trying to communicate that she didn't like being stared at. She wanted the elf to look away, although she wasn't sure he would. "ATTENTION!" A small sneer curls across Ruina's face, great. She was caught in the training speech, one of the many that would no doubt be spoken. She reluctantly allows her grey eyes to slide away from the elf, to rest on a orc woman with a purple dress. "I am Magdalaine Defauw. NO need to remember my name I can go by MADAME. My whole job is to get you.... CHILDREN into order for training before the Association tries to test us and make ME seem like a fool." At that, Ruina couldn't help but smirk slightly, though she didn't listen to much more of it. She just started to rant on about something of elves and humans working together.
"Come." She mutters to her wolves as she begins her trek to the door. She wasn't going to stay around and listen, after all, she couldn't compete in the tournament. At most, she would have to be there to represent the royal family of Truhan. But, since her powers were still locked away, she wouldn't be able to compete. The crowd parts before her and her wolves, almost subconsciously as they focus on the orc. Which made the way to the door very easy, it took barely two minutes. Ruina opens the doors, and her wolves exit first. She slips out after, as the doors clank shut behind her. Ruina sighs,"Why am I still here?"
Oh yeah, her father was hoping that by being immersed in so much magic, that her own would be unlocked. It had been two years, and that still hadn't happened. Yeah, you could probably say that Ruina was salty about it. She wished to return to the palace and help her siblings, as well as return to the army. Where she had always excelled. She was a master in swordsmanship, and one of the best. She had trained many of Truhan's soldiers, and she would continue to do so, as soon as her father allowed her to return home. Which, she was sending letters everyday. Ruina sighs again as she and her wolves move through the halls.

Chrysanthos: His eyes followed the young girl trod without care to the door and exit the room as Defauw gave instructions. Ruina seemed to not care about anything going on... ever. Maybe shes just a rebellious kid. I feel like if I couldnt show my full potential I would try my hardest to succeed. Chrys rolled his eyes to himself. What use was this little sermon by Defauw anyways? He turned to Jeeter, slightly hunched over in the mass of students, "dont follow me." "Okay man. I'll keep you updated though. This seems important." Shuffling through the last few students, Chrys made it outside the heavy double doors. ************************** The hallway was decently tall, maybe around 8ft. Some tall lizardfolk would have to bend down around the openings due to the intricate arches that were decorated with the schools emblem. Small candles lined the upper walls held by simple brass pillars attatched by what looked like magical rope with a purple glow. Chrys hoped he could find Ruina, there was a feeling that he needed to get closer to her for. He had no clue what he would say when he found her, but maybe play it off like he needed to find the restroom. Turning corners and ultimately walking aimlessly, he had no clue where she had gone. Glancing around the corridor, he saw a room without a door. Just a single frame, the room seemed to be dark inside, shrouded by a black mist. There were 2 different voices Chrys could hear. He stood afar, hopefully to not be seen from a vantage point inside in case the shroud was one way vision. Voice 1: ...glad Defauw has the students in the conference room, we can deduct it shouldnt be any of them. Voice 2: I just cannot begin to understand how we would find a dead body on the campus of our school. This is unsettling. Have we had a cleaning gremlin come pick it up yet? Voice 1: Yes, Mimi the head of staff organized a cleaning crew to pickup all evidence as well. She even reported to me there was a large pouch of gold still attatched to the human who passed. Chrys was startled. A dead human body on the campus grounds? Nonetheless, it seemed like they havent identified it yet so it couldnt have been a student's lifeless form. There was a murderer loose and it definately wasnt safe to be roaming around solo. He was pretty sure the female voice had to be the headmaster, yet he couldn't place an acknowledgement on the male one. Voice 2/ Milano: I will keep this information on a tight leash, thank you Jarim. Whether or not we take this to the king we should discuss later. Papers were heard rustling and the black shroud vanished. Milano let out a gasp of surprise, "In my haste I forgot to put the silence spell up." She quickly peeked around the edges of the door frame. Chrys sunk back behind a corner and started to walk in the opposite way. Making distance between the administrators, he found another door slightly open and saw a swish of a furry tail. Finally, there were Ruina's wolves, if he found them, he found Ruina. Edited at March 5, 2023 11:29 AM by Gnashtooth

Suddenly Ruina's wolves go still, their hackles rising. Ruina turns,"What, what?" She murmurs, turning in a circle. Yet, she saw nothing. So what had her wolves freaked out? "Come, I will keep an eye out." The two let out a low growl, but follow after Ruina as she continues through the castle. A few students were still lingering, but for the most part everyone was in the Great Hall listening to the lecture. After all, they got to compete in the tournament, and they were excited. Why wouldn't they be? They got to fight and use their magic against others. And although seriously harming and killing was not allowed, that still left a lot of room for violence and showing off. That was perfect for a lot of the Storm Coast Academy students.
After a moment, she turns on her heels, heading for her dorm. She would get her sword and change into her sparring clothes. Then she'd head to the training room, which should be empty. She could practice her swordsmanship, as well as her hand to hand combat. That was one of the best ways to release tension and that is often what Ruina did. While everyone else was in classrooms or outside learning magic, Ruina was in the training room. Beating the shit out of the training dummies, keeping in shape and making sure that she lost none of her physical training. Her mentor, Riden, would be proud of her. For remembering to keep in shape and not sulk.
Ruina opens her door, allowing her wolves inside first before stepping into her room. It was pretty bland, which was exactly how Ruina liked it. The ways were painted an ocean blue, and very little hung on the wall. She used to have her sword mounted on the wall, but when it became increasingly clear that she would not be focusing on magic, she brought her sword down. A sleek silver steel while the scabbard was black with the Truhan royal sigil on it. The sword had been named Narcoleptic, the sword of Eternal Damnation, and had been passed down throughout her family for generations. According to the stories, the sword had been to hell and back. It was incredibly balanced and easy to wield, and magicked so the blade remains constantly sharp. Ruina had witnessed someone being cut by Narcoleptic, and damn, they had bled. It was her favorite weapon.
Ruina moves towards her dresser, changing into what she called her sparring clothes. Clothes that were tight enough on her that no loose fabric could get caught on anything during sparring, but loose enough she wasn't choking. It was incredibly comfortable and it wasn't thin material, so she wasn't freezing or revealing too much of anything. Ruina then ties her hair up, so that it wouldn't be in the way. Then she reaches for the scabbard, pulling out the sword to check on it, before returning the blade to the scabbard. "Ready?" She asks her wolves as she attaches the scabbard to her waist. Zephyr and Kehlani leaping up.
Ruina laughs as she leads the way out, shutting and securing the door behind her. It was a short and easy trip to the training room and within minutes, Ruina had warmed up and was now beating the shit out of a training dummy. Her sword remained in the scabbard at her waist, and her fists were slamming into the dummy again and again. She wasn't holding back, and she was coated in sweat. But she didn't care. While she was sparring, Zephyr and Kehlani were wrestling. Playing and tackling each other, but staying on the edge so they didn't get in the way or distract Ruina. In fact, they were doing their own sort of training.

Chrysanthos: Pushing the door fully open to reveal Ruina with hair up and practicing her sparring, Chrysanthos warily padded into the room passing her wolves who were cautious to this newcomer. "Hey, uh you look like your training really hard. Sorry to interrupt, uhm, this is a really busy first day. Do you know where the bathroom might be?" He finished the sentence with a smile to not come off as weird being it just the two of them in the training room together who both seemingly snuck out during an information meeting. Glancing around the room he noticed her infatuating blade. It was quite the piece of metalwork. Being made of steel and having such a sharp blade certainly brought attention to the weapon. This chick sure can do some work with a sword. Maybe its her compensation for being powerless. He thought to himself while midlessly staring at the blade waiting for a response from the sweaty human.

Suddenly Ruina hears the door open, and after she finishes her attack, she stops. She warily turns around, who could be bothering her now? Even her wolves had stopped, sitting up to stare intently at the intruder, ready for anything. Ruina raises an eyebrow, an elf, was he lost? What was he doing here? Shouldn't he be at the meeting? "Hey, uh you look like your training really hard. Sorry to interrupt, uhm, this is a really busy first day. Do you know where the bathroom might be?" Ruina spins her blade around, which made a satisfying swish through the air as she goes to answer.
Suddenly, it felt like some kind of dam had broken inside of Ruina. Her body started to hum with power, and Ruina's eyes widen in shock. Then it happened. In an explosion of fiery heat. Her body suddenly lit itself on fire, and Ruina found herself covered in flames. "What the...?" She mutters, examining herself. The flames didn't hurt, in fact, she barely felt them. Though what she found was cool was the fact the flames had spread to her sword and were licking up and down the blade. Ruina's eyes move back to the elf. Had he caused this? Had him coming here activated her unlocked magical potential.
Just as fast as it had come on, the flames disappear, and Ruina was back to normal. Not on fire. Her eyes gleamed as she examined her hands. While her wolves had come closer, curiosity in their eyes. She had now completely forgot about the elf, to entranced by the sudden show of magic. Ruina focuses on her hand, willing a flame to appear, and it did. A small ball of fire appeared over her hand, also covering her hand. Ruina grins,"Awesome." Ruina lets the fire die out and she remembers the elf. Her grey eyes flicker to him,"Oh, the bathroom. There's one down the hall." She nods in the direction,"Just follow the hall and you should see it off to the right."

Chrysanthos: HOLY SHIT.. Chrys thought to himself as a fiery pillar ignited in front of his face. The heat from the fire was not unbearable, but yet uncomfortable since it was crafted from magic. Ruina's sword had formed a sizzling path of fire up and down the shaft of the sharp weapon. This girl makes me feel like im alive on another level. Theres no way the fire started out of surprise. Jeeter told me she's been struggling with magick. Chrysanthos stepped back. "Yeah I partially needed to use the restroom but I also need to confide in someone. Can I confide in you?" His brown and green speckled eyes meet hers with the question. Waiting her reply, he itched around his front-facing horns that seemed to curve around in a perfect spiral awaiting her response.
