It's hard to grind like a normal pack and still make a good profit from explore because I have to constantly spend mush to make my explore wolves better at exploring. On top of that, I have the added risk that I'm forced to retire any wolf who gets gravely injured in battle and I'm on a hot spring timeout for 2 weeks so I'm in a tough spot

Blood of The Forgotten

---

Decades ago, the elven ancestors of the Yloriax Clan made a sacred pact with the dragons, beings they revered as Gods from another time. In ancient writings on the walls, the pact is hard to make out. Broken variations of glamour protection of these Gods in exchange for their own dragon forms. This pact allowed them to fully transform into majestic creatures, embracing their power. As a result, they became a new species known as Drakoria; elves with dragon blood in their veins. However, over time, the Drakoria grew complacent, neglecting their deep connection to the ceremonial rites that sustained their transformation abilities.

As the years passed, the dragons vanished, possibly driven to extinction. This disappearance severed the bond that fueled their magic, leaving the elves unable to achieve their dragon forms. The once proud tradition became a mere legend, with tales of ancestors who could transform completely into dragons. Now, the Clan members can only manage a "half shift," taking on partial dragon features but never the full transformation.

Eventually, a partial prophecy came to the three elder sisters, speaking of sacrifice. The Sisters shared this with the Shaman, who took it upon themselves to be the sacrifice. The prophecy foretold that a selfless act of sacrifice was crucial for rekindling the lost magic and restoring the Clan’s connection to their dragon heritage, though it did not specify what sacrifice must be made. When the power did not restore after the Shaman’s death, it became clear that the prophecy's true meaning was yet to be fully understood or fulfilled.

For centuries after their Shaman’s death, the Clan has persisted with their ancient trials, striving to evoke the lost magic and reconnect with their roots. Each year, they send groups of new apprentices to undergo these rigorous trials, hoping to regain their dragon forms. Despite their efforts, the trials have become more of an initiation into becoming warriors of the Clan, rather than a true path to transformation. Many have lost hope, viewing the trials as symbolic rather than transformative, as none have succeeded.

Note: Bee and I will decide what species of dragon you get within the RP. There are no choices, nor reservations. It is entirely picked for you to make things more interesting. Each dragon has their own specific outline that determines who will obtain which one. Good luck.

The Trials

---

Artifacts are hidden by The Elders, Chief(tess), and Lieutenant. Unbeknownst to the apprentices, inside each artifact found, there will be a piece of that dragon inside. These items are glamoured to appear as normal objects.

The apprentices must obtain these items and return them to The Elders.

The Apprentices will be given a map with the Location, Artifact Names, and Trials. They all must pass. Apprentices will feel a "pull" towards these items, to help with direction and identifying them.

Apprentices will be taken to the The Scalding Flats to begin the trials,

1. Fire Dragon Trial:
Location: The Scalding Flats
The apprentice must traverse a scorching desert biome, where temperatures soar to unbearable levels. They are given limited resources, such as a small amount of water and minimal supplies, and must find the Volcanic Heart before navigating their way to an ancient, hidden oasis.

From here, the apprentices must swim through the oasis and it will lead to the underwater labyrinth - The Depths of Nereus.

2. Water Dragon Trial:
Location: Depths of Nereus
The apprentice is tasked with swimming through an underwater labyrinth filled with strong currents and hidden traps. They must retrieve a Mother of Pearl from the depths of the labyrinth and bring it back to the surface.

When the apprentices find the pearl, a tunnel near the oyster will lead them to the Hollowed Veins for the Earth trial.

3. Earth Dragon Trial:
Location: Hollowed Veins
The apprentice must navigate through an extensive underground network of tunnels and caverns. They need to find and extract a Quartz from the heart of the subterranean labyrinth.

Near the center of the tunnels will be a ladder out, they will find an opening to a cliffside with a weathered obstacle course, Zephyr’s Skywalk.

4. Air Dragon Trial:
Location: Zephyr’s Skywalk
The apprentice must navigate a high-altitude obstacle course with tightropes, swinging bridges, and wind tunnels that test their balance and agility. Upon completing the course, they will discover a hidden gryphon nest perched on a precarious ledge. They must wait for the mother gryphon to leave before carefully retrieving a feather. If the gryphon returns while they are still there, it could lead to dire consequences.

When they cross the obstacle with the feather, they must scale the storming mountain range, Tempest Peaks.

5. Ice Dragon Trial:
Location: Tempest Peaks - Winter's Edge Cave.
The apprentice must cross icy mountains filled with snowstorms and hidden crevasses. They need to locate and extract a frozen tooth fossil from Winter's Edge Cave that is deep within this landscape.

Once they extract the fossil from the Winter's Edge Cave, they will notice a hidden door has opened in the ice. The door leads to a corridor shrouded in profound blackness, an abyss of nothingness that seems to absorb the light around it leading to their next trial in Tenebrous Caverns.

6. Dark Dragon Trial:
Location: Tenebrous Caverns
The apprentice must navigate through a pitch-black cave system filled with dangerous creatures (bogge) and traps. They must rely on their other senses and intuition to find the Ebon Obelisk.

There is an upper level in Tenebrous Caverns that will be revealed once the artifact is found. Almost like a stairway to Fyrndor, shimmering golden light shines down on the steps. They must take these stairs to their next trial in the Dawn Sanctuary.

7. Light Dragon Trial:
Location: Dawn Sanctuary.
The apprentice must pass through a dazzling maze of mirrors and light beams. They must solve puzzles that involve manipulating light and shadows to progress through the maze. The light reflecting off the mirrors points to the Halo Pendant.

After succeeding in the Dawn Sanctuary, they can finally make their way back to the Clan. However, an unknown trial awaits them, erased from the memories of previous apprentices. Upon arrival, the Shaman gives them a milky tea with a delicate, floral aroma, sweetened with honey and hints of chamomile and lavender. As soon as they drink it, a warm, calming sensation spreads through their bodies, and they slip into unconsciousness.

8. Dream Dragon Trial
Location: Astral Plane

The apprentice must navigate through a surreal landscape filled with shifting visions and mystical beings, created from their deepest fears. They all must retrieve a Soul Shard from the heart of their subconscious mind. Once touched, the Apprentices awake with their first Tribal Mark.

---

Artifact Names:

---

Fire: Volcanic Heart: A blazing Fire Opal that is hot to the touch
Water: Mother of Pearl: A lustrous, iridescent pearl
Earth: Quartz: A massive, rugged clear gem
Air: Gryphon Feather: white and brown, almost golden color with white veins running through it.
Ice: Frozen Tooth Fossil: A crystalline relic resembling a large, jagged tooth encased in a thick layer of clear ice
Dark: Ebon Obelisk: a black box etched with ancient runes
Light: Halo Pendant: A golden delicate pendant with a sunstone at its center, seemingly surrounded by a ring of light.
Dream: Soul Shard: a small, translucent gem that seems to pulse with the rhythm of a heartbeat - the Apprentice’s heartbeat.

Rules

---

1. Follow all of Eve's rules.

2. Be active. I would like to see a minimum of 2-3 posts every week-- if you go inactive for more than five days, your character(s) will be removed from this RP.

3. No godmodding or having perfect characters. Your characters should not be perfect and unrealistic. i.e - they cannot have no scars on them if they have a past of battling others.

4. This is semi-literate, meaning that you should be posting at least 2-3 paragraphs for every character, for every post. Writers block is understandable, but the rest of us need something long enough to reply to.

5. Ask before seriously killing or injuring another character not your own. They are not yours to control, and you need to ask permission. If you’ve read everything, put Highborn in other section.

6. LGBTQ+ characters are welcome!

7. Properly credit your images.

8. You are given three strikes. You will get warnings, and if you continue breaking rules, then you will be kicked out of this RP.

9. 2 characters minimum. Must have a non-shifter and an apprentice (eventual shifter). After, you may claim any other non-shifter roles. There are no limits on characters per person.

10. Reservations last 48 hours. If you do not complete your form when your time is up, the spot will go to somebody else. However, I can allow an extension if requested.

11. If you are told to fix your form more than three times, then we have the ability to kick you out.

12. Finally, and most important, have fun and enjoy!

Introduction

Despite the late hour, the heat of the day lingers, and the heavy humidity clings to the air, making every breath thick and warm. The celebration, centered around the apprentices and their impending trials, fills every corner of the camp with life and excitement as the sun sinks lower.

In the heart of the camp, the celebration is at its peak. The apprentices, the evening’s honored figures, are being celebrated with cheers and songs. They stand proudly, adorned in flowers and colorful body decorations. The rhythmic beating of drums pulses through the crowd, accompanied by the crackling of towering fires that send sparks swirling into the air.

Tables laden with food and cups overflowing with strong, intoxicating drinks are passed around the gathering. The scent of roasted meats and freshly baked bread mingles with the fragrant flowers worn by the clan members, creating a rich, heady atmosphere. Despite the hardships the Clan has faced, including the loss of both the Shaman and Chief, there is a sense of relief in the air, as if this celebration is a long-awaited release of tension.

---

For your starters:

We're starting at the celebration—an outdoor party in the heart of the camp with large pyres, music, a feast, and socializing. It's sunset, early evening, with temperatures still in the high 70s.

Everyone is gathered in the camp’s center, where the Clan is focused on honoring the Apprentices, offering blessings, presenting small tokens to the Gods at the altar for protection during the trials, and overall enjoying a bit of fun!

Esen Eradia || Apprentice || M: Other Apprentices, Open

The deep, rhythmic pounding of the drums shook Esen to her core. It almost seemed as though her heart was changing its beat to match that set by the instruments, stirring some primal part of her that pushed away the soft-spoken girl and took over as a more driven, confident woman. It was a strange feeling, though she couldn't say she didn't like it. The fires reflecting in her purple eyes produced a clashing dance of the colors therein, and her light hair took on a warm tone on the outside that made the shadows all the more blue. She stood with her hands wringing themselves behind her back.

As Esen looked around her at the joyful clan members and the strong, stoic apprentices alongside her, she couldn't help but wonder if she was a fraud. She was tiny compared to almost all of them, and she certainly wasn't bulky. How on earth would she be of any use to this team? The chants of the drums seemed to chide her for such thoughts; the ancestors were dancing in the skies and the souls of the dragons were twisting and turning among the stars. She was a descendant of warriors blessed by the gods; how dare she question their lineage? Doubting herself meant doubting at least half the clan, and an unsure partner was a weak link. She refused to be the reason the chain of apprentices snapped.

She inhaled sharply, taking in all the scents of food and flames, and then released the breath at the same time as her hands dropped to her sides. It wasn't long before she was fidgeting again, though, as one of the flowers adorning her hair found itself trapped and rolling between her thumb and forefinger. Esen glanced around once more and clenched her jaw. If she wanted to succeed as a warrior instead of a gatherer, then she needed to suck it up and start acting like one. She forced herself to relax and broke away from the group to haunt one of the food tables. The damp, warm air swirled around her more forcefully now that the fires weren't sucking it all into themselves, but the temperature was still bearable.

Esen moved from the meats to the fruit and ended up at the bread, pulling apart pieces of a fresh loaf and watching the festivities from the comfortable position of wallflower. She began searching for any of her closer family members, hoping to find one to drag into the shadows to lurk alongside her. What fun was hoarding carbs by yourself? Besides, it was a party; she had to at least try to be social.

Elariel Quercus

Warrior aka Mother Hen | Mentions:

Indirectly: Althaea, Astraea, Ivan, Kethryll'ia, Aelion, and Aktith'ki

As the sun began to set, casting a warm, amber glow over the camp, Elariel's brown skin gleamed, the red markings on his face pulsing with a faint, eerie light, as if freshly drawn from a deep wound. Seated near one of the towering fires, his broad fingers tapped steadily on a drum, his movements precise and controlled, effortlessly merging with the rhythm that echoed through the gathering.

Elariel scanned the crowd, observing the festivities with a calm intensity. The apprentices, covered in vibrant flowers and ceremonial paint, danced nearby with the rest of the Clan, their excitement palpable as they prepared for the trials ahead. Elariel watched them with a mixture of pride and silent reflection, knowing the challenges they would soon face and the crucible that would shape them into the warriors they were destined to become.

Amidst the celebration, Elariel's thoughts drifted to his mate, Althaea, who was carrying their twins. He searched the crowd for a glimpse of her, hoping to catch sight of her radiant presence. His heart softened at the thought of their growing family, a rare, tender joy amidst the trials that lay ahead. A ghost of a smile touched Elariel's face as he allowed himself to relax for a moment.

His gaze then shifted to his sister, Astraea. She had lost her mate—the Chief—years ago, and since then, Elariel had taken on the role of a father figure to her two sons, Ivan and Kethryll'ia. The weight of responsibility for these young men, along with Aelion and Aktith'ki—two more who viewed him as a stand-in father—rested heavily on his shoulders. Aelion’s father had been like a brother to Elariel before his untimely death, and the bond they shared now extended to the next generation.

Aktith'ki’s situation was more complicated; his father, Cyrus, was still alive, though their once-close friendship had been fractured by the loss of Cyrus’s wife, the old Shaman, who had sacrificed herself alongside the Chief. Now, Elariel had collected these young men around him, hoping to act as a mentor. He felt his nerves prickle at the thought of Aelion, Kethryll'ia, and Aktith'ki all facing the trials. While not his by blood, Elariel had sworn to protect them as if they were.

His body tensed as he slowly dropped the drumming. Elariel shut his eyes and breathed deeply for a few moments. The scents of fresh food wafted through the air, and he savored the taste of mead in his cup—not enough to dull his senses, but just enough to ease the tension in his body. Tonight was a night for celebration before the Apprentices were whisked away. He remembered the trials as if they were yesterday, recalling how many of his scars had been earned during those harrowing days. The memory of those who hadn't made it back weighed heavily on his mind.

Elariel’s face tightened briefly as those memories surfaced, before he threw back the rest of his mead. The warmth of the honeyed liquid pooled in his stomach, causing his expression to shift into a grimace at the burning aftertaste. He looked back to his wife, his fingers resuming the rhythm on the drum as he let himself relax into the soothing embrace of the mead, quickly feeling the effects of the drink taking hold.

Akith’ki Terosh | Apprentice | Mentions:

Indirectly: Elariel, Althaea, Sarolta, Kethryll’ia, and Astraea

The bright orange flames glowed in Akith’ki’s eyes, making the yellow of his sclera endlessly vibrant. His pupils barely wider than a slit, he stared out at the festivities around him. His fellow apprentices were decorated in a similar fashion to himself, strikes of paint blazoned across their bodies, flowered strewn across them and the floor. A singular stripe of a white brush stroke was swiped across his cheeks and the bridge of his nose, other small splatterings of earth tones covered his bare chest and arms. The heat had brought a light sheen of sweat across his bare skin, blurring some of the markings. A particularly detailed depiction of a spiraled sun between his shoulders in a deep red was the only cohesive piece on his body, placed upon him by Elariel and his mate.

The events in the main camp were filled with a loud bellowing of drums and voices that mixed together like a beautiful melody fit to induce a spike of adrenaline. Yet, Akith’ki did not participate in the drinking or dancing. Tomorrow would be the start of what he trained for since before he could walk. His red stained purple eyes strayed across the clearing to where his father sat alone, hoarding two mugs of mead, finding his father’s eyes were already boring into him. Akith held eye contact for a simmering moment, the emotions conveying to him quickly, he did not need to see anymore. He twisted his body away, leaning his weight onto his heels. A flower toppled from the mullet on his head, plopping at his feet silently.

Akith’ki knew what his father was thinking, that his son would disappoint him, be useless in these trials and come back broken or even dead. His teeth gritted forcefully, causing a muscle on his jaw to pop, eyes narrowed as he stared at the flames. Just beyond sat Elariel, hands striking a drum with a steady accuracy. The sight eased his tense jaw and shoulders, letting them drop just a little. His father’s opinion mattered greatly to the young man, but he could prove him wrong, he had to. Pushing away from the wall he was hovering near, he strode towards the table laden with meats. He needed to eat well tonight, overload his body, who knew when and what they would be able to eat in these coming months. Lifting the leg of a bird to his mouth, he bit into it, the delicious flavours melting over his tongue. Akith’ki looked back out across the clearing to where the majority of the apprentices were scattered about. His eyes locked first onto Sarolta, watching her carefully as she enjoyed her evening. His pupils expanded slightly, would she talk to him tonight? His chest felt funny at the thought, Akith’ki shook his head and took another bite. Of course she wouldn’t, he’s not particularly inviting people to approach at that moment in time.

Distracting himself, the man looked to where Catori and the Chieftess stood at the heart of the activity. The heirs not too far away, he focused his attention on the younger, he looked small in comparison to his kin. Akith’ki wasn’t sure how Kethryll’a would cope on these trials, during training he very rarely was posed against the heir. The true reasoning behind that he was unsure, nevertheless, Akith’ki observed the group from afar. Picking another serving of meat from the table to satiate himself.

Cyrus Terosh | Warrior | Mentions:

Indirectly Elariel, Apprentices, Astraea

The constant banging of the drums struck into Cyrus’s brain like an iron hammer, slamming over and over again. He sat near the long table spread with mead, his hand grasping one to his lips, another mug sat on the table next to him ready for its turn. He was staring across the clearing, his golden eyes set alight by the flames from the pyre in front of him, flames dancing in his eyes. Akith’ki. His son stood alone, no drink to be seen across the fire from his father. Other apprentices were talking to their family, enjoying their evening before their trials. But his son stood alone, with Elariel occupied he supposed his son had no one to talk to. Good. A strong warrior must know that connections are a weakness to be exploited and used.

Akith’ki’s eyes found his own, the amethyst purple struck a chord in Cyrus. The crystalline colour cut him as deeply as a sharpened blade, his mother’s eyes. Cyrus felt a bubble of disdain rise into his chest, creating a terrible cocktail of emotions. Why did she leave them? She proclaimed for the good of the tribe, but she could have found another way. What if the chief was enough of a sacrifice? They did not wait to find out. Cyrus ripped his eyes away from his son as he moved across the clearing, leaving his father behind.

The warrior rose his mug to his lips and downed the remaining liquid, slamming the empty cup down and immediately grasping another. These celebrations were pointless, a simple and respectful offering to the ancestors should be given and the apprentices well rested before the biggest endeavour of their lives. It would not culminate in the return of dragon shifting, but to bolster and harden the newest warriors of the tribe. Toughen them up.

Cyrus’s gaze travelled around the clearing, he could pick out more than one apprentice that he did not think would survive the first trial. Too many of them were weak, coddled in their youth. Their parents did not prepare them as he had Akith’ki. He made Akith’ki a living weapon but he was still not strong enough. His son could still be bested by his peers and other warriors, it was unacceptable and embarrassing.

Rising to his feet, Cyrus walked across the clearing, only claiming a single look at Elariel as he walked past the warrior, his face hardened into irritability. Even his old companion had turned soft over the past years, clicking his tongue he whipped his head away. Stalking to a shadowed corner of the main clearing, where he could watch the comings and goings of those he wanted to keep tabs on. Most pointedly, the Chieftess, Catori and the Elders. All of them acted like children. Playing around and causing mess rather than battle seasoned leaders, they did not know how to run this group. His eyes bore towards the Chieftess, he should be where she is. He knew how to rile these apprentices up, train them to be warriors worthy of their heritage.

Catori Thirle | Lieutenant | Mentions:

Directly Astraea and Warriors (place who you like in the group she approaches). Indirectly Syllivanna.

The young lieutenant stood strong beside the Chieftess, watching as the apprentices broke away from their formal introduction to the celebrations and began mingling amongst the tribe members. A smile graced her lips as she watched the new generation prepare for the next step in their lives. A momentous occasion that she was proud to be a part of. Catori turned her head to look as Astraea, offering that smile to her leader.

“They look well. I am confident they will do well this time.” She beamed to the older woman, her eyes squishing at the movement. “They look strong.” She nodded towards the group as they disappeared into the festivities. “Your son will be fine.” Catori lowered her voice, giving Astraea a softened look. Any parent would be concerned about their children enduring the trials, Catori knew her parents were worried out of their minds until she returned home. They were long gone now, having produced Catori towards the end of their lives. They lived long enough to see her rise to power as lieutenant but shortly after succumbed to sicknesses brought on by cold weather, they simply were not strong enough to endure it. Both of them gatherers, they did not have the bodily strength to fight off such a strong infection and with their shaman gone, they didn’t stand a chance.

Catori dipped her head in respect to her leader and descended into the blinding light of the pyres, the warmth spreading across her skin like an embrace. Her black and green eyes glinting in the light as she passed them by, a little closer and she would have singed her clothes. The trails of her mottled black dress billowing in the air as she walked, slightly ripped by age the ribbons of fabric almost flicked into the flames. Unusual attire for the lieutenant, but tonight was meant to be enjoyed to their most natural states. In a similar fashion, her usually pinned back hair was falling free down between her shoulder blades. The red of the fire only enhancing her hairs natural fiery colour.

Her destination was a group of warriors chatting amongst themselves, enjoying the feast. Her heart swelled at the sight of her warriors laughing with each other. It was a sight to behold, a time of celebration. Upon her approach, she caught a glimpse of Syllivanna, her heart only felt fuller at the vision of the young woman. She looked strong in her paint, Catori’s own hands printing in blue on Syllivanna’s shoulders like protective coverings. Despite her confidence in Syl, Catori could not help the small twinge of panic at the idea that her young apprentice may succumb to the trials. The lieutenant shook her head free of the feeling, that was a ridiculous thing to worry about. She knew she had trained her well and she will do just fine.

As Catori made it to the group of warriors, she spoke, a lilting joy to her voice. “I hope you’re all behaving yourselves over here.” She quipped, smiling brightly at them. She leaned into the group to clasp a mug for herself, tipping her head to drink the sweet liquid.
